Another sad night for TV viewing. So flipping though the channels and the best they had to offer tonight was reruns of the "Good Times" starring a future R&B diva Janet Jackson. To this day, I still don't like Chip Fields, mother of this actress (hint, look for the little black girl).
These episodes were the first time I actually learned about child abuse and what that was. Say what you want about Janet now, she acted her you-know-what off in this episode.

Warning, lava lamps ahead
Flipping through the channels tonight, I settled on the most guiltiest of pleasures. VH-'s "40 Most Softsational Songs Ever"and I enjoyed every second of the two hours.
Although I disagree with what they chose as No. 1. (No, I'm not going to tell you what it was, you'll just have to watch." I will say though, it reignited my mancrush on Darryl Hall. And yes, I admit I have a BUNCH of their songs on my Ipod.
But why wasn't there MORE Lionel Richie and Kenny Rogers on this list? And where the heck is "Islands in the Stream?" Discuss. And of course this song should have been higher on the list. And this one should have been included. And let's not forget this one either.

Black dolls, white dolls
After a relaxing three day weekend, I decided to catch today's "Oprah." I'm so glad I did.
She had a teen-age filmmaker on who did a documentary on black kids and what kind of doll they desired if they had to choose between a white doll and a black doll. I was stunned to see ALL of the children chose the WHITE dolls. This test isn't anything new because Kenneth Clark did the same test back in the 1940s as part of the Brown v Board of Education.
It's shocking this behavior still exists in 2007. But, I'm guilty too because when I was a boy, I used to fantasize about being Superman, Wonder Woman, The Bionic Woman (she was cooler) but no black ones. Although, there weren't that many and still aren't, although DC Comics did try.
"Oprah" is usually full of fluff but today, she's full of substance and thank goodness for that.

And so begins, the summer TV season
Are you ready for some re-runs? I'm not. This Memorial Day weekend, I was hoping that some new programming would start so that we could have more to blog about. The best I could find is National Bingo Night and the directions to that show was sooo confusing, I can't even BEGIN to describe it. Needless to say, I've decided to skip that all together.
Scrolling through the channels tonight, the best I could find is a two-hour "Dateline" which looked bor-ing. Or I could be bummed that my guy Stone Phillips has been given the boot.
I'm debating on whether or not to try "So You Think You Can Dance?" or "America's Got Talent" but neither of them make my freak-flag want to fly high.
Needless to say, Netflix might be my friend this summer....

Heroes! 24 and American Idol
My LORD What a finale last night! It was just beyond awesome. In case you don't know, Peter AND Nathan sacrified themselves so others could live. But a few lingering questions remain: Why didn't Peter just fly himself away from danger? He's used two powers at once before: remember the episode where he turned invisible and was using TK to fling stuff at Isaac? So when he went nuclear, all he had to do is swoop out of there to some place where he couldn't do any harm. What's up with Candice keeping the illusion on when she was knocked out? I still don't get Nikki/Jessica but oh well.
24
While the season was disappointing I loved the finale! I can't wait to see where they take Jack next season.
American Idol
Jordin is so going to win this. But the Blake supporters might rally. Stay tuned.....

The finales are coming, the finales are coming!
Tonight begins a week of long goodbyes to some of my favorite (and not so favorite) shows.
Desperate Housewives
As I type this, I'm sitting here watching "Desperate Housewives" which I've had an on again-off-again-on-again love affair. This season was waaaay better than last but they lost me about six episodes ago. When I heard Marcia Cross was coming back for the finale, I knew I had to tune in. I've been spoiled about the ending so all I have to say is wooow! Who knew that one of the best characters on the show would try to off herself.
Heroes and 24
One of these shows was the bomb the whole season while the other bombed. Guess which is which? I'm counting down to the "Heroes" finale and can't wait!!! "24" I'm not so anxious about. I have no idea how either is going to end.
American Idol
I don't care who wins. Really. Melinda was robbed. That's all.
What's next?
Have you been catching the crapstatic commericals for the summer shows? There's one on ABC called "The Next Best Thing" where celebrity impersonators compete to see who's best. (YAWN)
Not to be outdone, CBS is offering "Pirate Master" about folks seeking buried treasure. Can we save "Survivor" lite.
And NBC is offering "America's Got Talent." Oh boy!
Needless to say I'm going to be Netflixing for the next few months.

I've been scammed!
Earlier this week, a friend asked me if I would go to a TV sneek peek with him. I said sure because I thought at last, someone will actually CARE what I thought about what's on TV.
Last night was the "sneek peek". Unfortunately, it was for the commericials they were showing with the TV shows. I knew something was odd about this whole scenario when before they showed the shows they had us fill out a survey asking us things like what kind of dog food we use to what kind of water/soft drink we prefer.
Then the lights dimmed and they showed us these two really OLD shows. Like, 1998 old. The reason I knew is one starred Kim Raver from "24" and she looked as if she was in her mid 20s and the guy that played T-Bag from "Prison Break"." He too looked extremely young. What really tipped me off is one of the people was using a cell phone in the preview and she had to flip it out and pull out her antenna. The show was horrid! It was called "Soul Mates" and it was about two people who were lovers in a former life. It was BAD.
Then the bad MC of the evening proceeded to ask us more questions about things we liked and then we were into the second show. It too was old. It looked like "Full House" and starred C. Thomas Howell. Only on this one, every one of the male leads had a child. GAG. I'm sure some of those kids who looked to be around 8ish at the time are probably in high school now.
Rue McClanahan was actually the bright spot of this dismal show.
After that, they had a raffle and I won a $40 gift basket which will be mailed to me in "2-4 weeks" (Yeah, right)
We also took an 80-question plus survey which asked all sorts of crapola. I'm positive most people knew this was a marketing scam but many were good sports about it. I have to go though, suddenly, I have this strong urge to eat Lay's potato chips.

Upfronts and "Idol"
ABC and NBC rolled out their new schedules yesterday and today.
I'm really excited about "The Bionic Woman" ( http://www.nbc.com/Fall_Preview/Bionic_Woman/#). It looks awesome. I pray that Lindsey Wagner will guest star as an aunt or a cousin or something. Plus, I need to see the slow-running and hear the neh-neh-neh-neh bionic sound.
Other than that, I'm not that thrilled with their schedule. And I'm shocked that they are doing a "Heroes" spinoff. But, we'll see how it goes.
I'm waiting on pins and needles about the fate of "Veronica." It sounds as if hope is gone but I need them to tell me something. It'll be a shame to see this brilliant show go away.
American Idol.
WOW! I have NO idea who's going to be the next "Idol" because all three of them kicked major booty tonight. I want Melinda to win but I suspect it will be Jordin Sparks because she's the best all-around. Blake seemed to gimmicky to me but we'll see how America votes.

"Survivor" update
Yep. My spoilers were dead on! The final three of Earl, Cassandra and Dreamz.
It was the best Tribal Council ever as Dreamz went back on his word and stabbed Yau-Man in the back. Had he not, Yau would have TOTALLY won and should have won this season. You had this skinny, older man who outwitted, outlasted and outplayed a bunch of these youn'uns. I'm hoping that Rosie O'Donnell or someone will reward him for his efforts. He was TOTALL cheated. It also goes to show you that you can't trust people.
Plus we learned that Dreamz has a child and that he went on national TV and lied. He went on and on about how it hurt him. Whatev dude. You didn't win.

Are you ready for the "Survivor" finale?
I was on the road last week and I stopped at a cousin's house to see the last 10 minutes of "The Amazing Race." I couldn't believe who won!! Tonight, my other "Can't Miss" reality show is on. We're down to the final five and with a two-hour finale, I'm betting two folks will be booted within the first hour.
I've read some spoilers and if they are true, it's going to be a doozy. I would LOVE if Earl or Yau-Man won because they've played the game the best out of everyone. If Earl wins, he'll be the first African-American male to win "Survivor." If Yau-Man wins, he'll be the second Asian following Yul from last season.
Monday
"24" was yet another dud this week. I absolutely don't care how this season ends because after a bang-up start, they just couldn't seem to get it together. R.I.P. Milo. Please tell Tony, Michelle and David Palmer that we miss them. Give a hug to Curtis for me too.
Tuesday
Workout
This week, the trainers all grieved for the loss of Doug who died unexpectedly in January. I thought he was the classiest person on the show but I was taken aback that they devoted less than FIVE minutes to his death on the show and more about the fat people who participated in Jackie's weight-loss camp. I know it's Jackie's show but really?! Couldn't Doug's death have taken up a whole episode? Next week is the reunion show and based on the previews, it's going to be ugly with Rebecca, Jackie and Jesse oh and let's not forget MIMI returns!
Veronica Mars
OY! The wait for renewal is KILLING me. Everyday new news happens. Some say it will be renewed, others say it won't. I wish that it would and I'm not to thrilled about this FBI concept. But I still want to see Kristen Bell on my TV every week so I'll take what I can get. I LOVED Paul Rudd this week. He was AWESOME beyond words. I hope they'll bring him back next season. (Yeah, I said it).
Law & Order SVU
Lordy. Did y'all see they were thisclose to showing Chris Meloni's backside? I kept yelling for the cameraman to drop the camera but alas no. Of course, I could rent copies of the greatest drama ever and watch it at will. The stories keep getting better and better and it was so cool to see Sean from "Nip/Tuck" do a turn as a bad guy. He's so goody-goody on that show that it makes me sick sometimes.
Wednesday
American Idol
America got it wrong. That's all. LaKisha goes home BEFORE Blake the human beat-box???!!
Lost
"Lost" has lost me. I'm so glad they announced an end to this show because I'm ready for it to be done. My guess, it'll be the dream of some passenger on the plane. If it's an austistic child, I'm through.

One last post before vacation....
I'm taking a few days off to make a long overdue visit to family and friends but wanted to do a quick round-up around the tube.
Tonight! The return of VERONICA MARS! I've seen the episode it and its amazing. Our girl is BACK in a big way. At first, I didn't like the fact that we're going to do solo mysteries but I think the format works. I pray that enough people will tune in so we can get a fourth season of the show.
Best things about the show: Veronica and Wallace. Keith! Mac and a possible new love interest! and the birth of ViPiz!
If you're not watching, you really are missing out on one of the best hours TV has to offer.
American Idol
Tonight the "Idols" got to rock it out with Jon Bon Jovi and let me tell you that LaKisha and Melinda were great, but Blake (with a new black 'do) stole the show! My prediction that Jordin and Chris are in danger.
The Amazing Race
Well, the final three are The Beauty Queens, Eric and Danielle and Charla and Mirna. My guess is that the Beauty Queens are going to take this thing. However, I wouldn't count Charla and Mirna out. If they can get the other teams to discount them and they work together and think they might have a shot.
Ugly Betty
This is the gem of the season. I'm totally in love (in a non creepy way) with Justin and Mark. Last week's episode when Justin told his mom to ditch the earrings was just priceless! I just pray that Henry and Betty wind up together.
And that's it. I'll pick the blog up in a few days. Until then, remember, it's not you, it's not me. It's TV!

Big Gay Sketch Show
I was flipping during the American Idol telethon last night and remembered that I saw a promo for a new comedy show on Logo called the "Big Gay Sketch Show." It's produced by Rosie O' Donnell and direct by Amanda Bearse (Remember her from "Married... with children."
I tuned in and it's not half bad! SNL has nothing to worry about but I think it's a great idea that Logo is finally doing more original programming.
The comedians are pretty funny and the best thing of all is not all of them are gay. If you missed the first episode, tune in to Logo because they'll rerun it ad nauseum.
American Idol
What the hell?! That was my comments last night after watching the telethon. They didn't boot anyone off! And I spent three hours of my life waiting. I'm worried for LaKisha so hopefully she can get it together and get it done right. Jordin needs to go!

Thank GOD for NELs!!!!!
For you "Amazing Race" watchers, Team Cha-Cha was in troooble tonight but thanks to a non-elimination leg, they were spared.
I was sad that the evil beauty queens bribed them to yield another team. But it totally backfired as the team that was yielded surged ahead and managed to come in second. But because they were already marked for elimination, they managed to come in third. Now they are the last and must be first to miss the penality.
I want them to win and I have confidence they'll be able to hold it together. If they don't win, I sooo want Charla to win. Mirna needs to be slapped for her rudeness to Charla and the other teams. It's also weird that she makes Charla do all the crappy stuff.

Apologies, it's been a crazy week....
I've had this event that I've been planning for months and now last night was the big event. I'm sorry for treating this blog like a step child.
The week in review:
American Idol
I'm going to go for the best thing EVER: Sanjaya is gone!!!!! Sanjaya is gone!!! Sanjaya is GONE!! Thank Athena. Thank Zeus, Thank whomever!! I was sooo worried that he was going to ruin "Idol." But America finally came to its senses and got rid of this loser! Although I felt sad for him when he started crying.
America's Next Top Model
Thank GAWD Jael is gone. She was tooo spacey, tooo wacky for this show. I just can't believe she even made it this far. I'm totally rooting for Jaselene who gave us this lovely quote: "I've never been nowhere except the hood and around the corner." Yep, they're supposed to be pretty, smart apparently isn't part of the package.
Oprah
The queen of "O" took on the whole Don Imus controversy and she had Russell Simmons and a few others to talk about the comment. I was soo proud of the women of Spelman College who stood up to them and said the usage of some words are inappropriate. She also took on the Virginia Tech tragedy and we ended the week going green.
Lost
Oh. MY. GOD!
"Lost" is bringing mystery back big time! The whole Desmond flashback episode wasn't the greatest but it keeps things moving. Although I want to get on the island and yell at these people for not working on a way to get everyone home or at least signal for help. Instead, these folks are just chillin'
And now...I cannot wait until Monday when we save the world with "Heroes!!!!"

America's Next Top Model
So long Whitney!
One of my favorite models from this season got the boot tonight. I'm bummed because she was pretty and smart and NOT a size 0. I wanted her to win so badly because I'm sick of stick figures being rewarded as models.
But at least she got a chance. It was also cool to see the past models Bre and Kim again who appeared during a challenge which required re-enactments of scenes from past seasons. I'm glad most of the girls got work! But some of them I had to remind myself who they were.
And now a word about Tyra. It's time for her stylist to be fired. Seriously. Why is she rocking fashions by Rhoda Morgenstern? The headwraps, the go-go boots. It's like she raided her mom's closet and decided to wear her old clothes. I know she's a retired model but my lord, can she be fashionable?????

Work out
I'm sitting here watching "Work Out" and it's kinda surreal watching it. One of the trainers, Doug Blasel died and tonight's the episode where it all goes down.
We see that it's Doug's birthday and minutes later, we find out that he's in a coma. In addition to that drama, we see that his ex partner needs a kidney transplant and there's still some feelings there.
Jackie has her own drama going on because she's juggling TWO hot babes. Oddly enough, both of the women used to be straight but Jackie's the only woman they've ever dated.
I won't go there but this show which was supposed to be about fitness has morphed into this lesbian drama. I thought I wouldn't like it, but I just can't get enough!

Catching up a bit
Last week was crazy! I managed to catch up on some neglected TV viewing such as "America's Next Top Model" and "The Amazing Race."
I'm convinced that Mirna from "TAR" and Jael from "ANTM" are cut from the same cloth. The CRAZY cloth.
I wish I could tell Mirna to stop with the fake accents! I want them to win because poor Charla has gone through so much, that it would be nice if she could get something out of her time with Mirna! Although, I laughed my behind off a few weeks ago when neither knew what a catamaran was!
Over on "Top Model" Jael make a joke and a jerk of herself when she kept harassing 50 Cent at a party. Although, I'm suprised there wasn't an uproar when 50 pushed her into a pool! What is the girl couldn't swim? He could have just got up and moved or left but pushing a woman is uncalled for. I have a feeling that that moment will come back to haunt him.
I didn't watch "Desperate Housewives" because a) why air a new show on Easter and b) it's been so long that I don't care anymore.
Meanwhile, I've been searching high and low for any morsel on "Veronica Mars" but I suspect it's a lost cause. Either way, I'll buy the show when it comes out on DVD.

Eight hours for 20 seconds?
Yep. I waited at Viejas Casino for 8 fraking (Hello BSG fans) hours yesterday to try out for "Deal or No Deal."
My girlfriend and some of her church friends waited too to try out. A co-worker of mine did the wise thing and left to play the cards games. (I hope he won).
While in line, I met the most interesting folks. One girl wanted the money to get married and adopt a baby. The another wanted the money to start a new life after having some hard times. The group I was with all wanted to donate some money to their church and then use it to send grandchildren to college or buy a house.
I don't know if any of us impressed anyone but we gave it the try.
I got there at 10 a.m. and drove around looking for a parking spot. Twenty minutes later, I was STILL looking. I noticed folks are rude when it comes to parking. I got cut off three times when clearly I was next for the spot. I was tempted to key a few cars yesterday when I saw that they purposely took up two and in one case THREE parking spots. I was shocked and appalled about it. But I thought karma might get the best of me and I let it pass.
Then the waiting began. One poor handicapped man waited so long that his walker broke. They called the ambulance but luckily he was OK. Once they found a wheelchair for him, he was ready to get back in the line.
The wait was so long, folks went shopping, went to eat and came back and the line moved very little. We were told by several people that once we made it to the big tent that we had another two hours to wait. They didn't lie. We waited and waited and waited. Then we were told another tent awaited us and then another tent and THEN we got to the casting folks.
We got asked this question"What would you do with the million dollars?" I told them that I would build my brother a new house, pay some bills and that I wanted to be on the show badly. Plus I threw this little gem in "Tomekia is so fine, she might turn me straight." The guy laughed and wrote something on my form my guess: "This queen is crazy" or a big NO!
Then they told us that we might be called a year from now. Oh joy, 364 more days to go........

To catch an identity thief
"Dateline" has been jumping all over child predators and after more than a dozen shows, they've finally moved on.
Now, the show is targeting identity thieves. We all knew how out of control this problem is, but I don't think I had any idea of the scope of this crime.
Last week, they showed how a credit card could be maxed out in seconds by identity thieves. This week, Chris Hansen travels to Africa to track down the ID thieves.
It's shocking how quickly and how methodically they work. And their No 1 target is Americans. Chris points out that ID thieves could even be your waiter (you know how you send that credit card away to get your bill paid? If the waiter is an ID thief, you've given him a ticket to your account) or even people who books your airplane tickets whomever.
It's enough to give all us pause.

Touched by an "Oprah"
I was watching Oprah today and she had people who literally changed the world, one person at a time.
Her first guest was a woman who read to kids in a shelter and then realized that they didn't have pajamas to wear when they were read bedtime stories. So she began collecting pairs from people and donating them to the shelter. She called it her Pajama Program Then the magic of Oprah came in and she had her audience bring in pairs of jammies so this woman could have. They brought in over 30,000 pairs!
Another story was about a man who wanted to change the lives of the kids in Napal and so he started a library program to help the kids. The last was a woman who cut out coupons to help the poor.
And this got me to thinking: What can I do to help the world? What can you do readers? Ideas?

The best Amazing Race EVER!!
Tonight was the best of the best of the best.
How awesome was it that the two nicest teams got to finish first on a leg? How awesome was it that Charla FINALLY stood up to shrill Myrna?
Kudos for to the producers for making the teams stop at a concentration camp and make them realize that there are much more important things in the world. Like taking your next breath or knowing where your loved ones are.....
I'm sad that Team Guido aka the OGGs (Old Gay Guys) were marked for elimination. But, to be honest, it WAS time. They were getting whiny (hello Tom, no plane is going to hear you yelling outside by the terminal) and just down right annoying.
I'm rooting for Uchenna and Joyce or Danny and Oswald to win this. The rest of the teams should just go home. Seriously.
I would love is Charla won, but I really hate, hate, HAAATTEE Myrna. She cracks me up with her fake accents and her "But I'm a young girl...." Myrna has to be at LEAST 30 and sorry sweetie that ain't a young girl.

Is Logo a letdown?
Almost two years ago, a new channel debuted on cable that was designed for GLBT community. It was to be called Logo and a lot of hope spread throughout the land.
Now, the only thing that exists is a bunch of disappointment. I've watched of and on for a while and was glad when they had original programming such as "Noah's Arc" and "Open Bar." But now, the ship has sailed for "Noah" (supposedly they are going to do a direct to theater movie and maybe a special or two).
We are subjected to endless showings of "Trick," "Tales of the City" and other bad or old gay movies.
I'm saddened by this because Logo is owned by CBS who has a TON of money to produce shows like "CSI" and they can't spare a few thou to invest in Logo?
Tonight I tried to watch for an hour and other than an interesting half hour about gays and lesbians and investment, there wasn't anything worth watching.
I would love if we had original stuff like made for TV movies or more documentaries about what it means to be gay and lesbian in the world in 2007. One could argue that something is better than nothing but when that something doesn't add up to much, then nothing IS better.

I'm sorry to tell you...you've been eliminated
I'm going to come clean on a secret. I HATE to travel. When I go on trips, I cannot wait to return home to my couch, my bed, my belongings.
With "The Amazing Race" I get to to travel without leaving the comfort of my home.
On tonight's episode the Racers spent time in Africa and I was spellbound at the wonder and beauty of the land. From the majestic mountains to the wonders of the plains, Africa spoke to me.
But back to the show, Uchenna and Joyce were marked for elimination and I have to say, I was worried for them. I shouldn't have been because of the wonders of the Race, they were safe with time to spare.
My friends and I have one nit with this show. TOO MUCH BUNCHING. What that means is that a team could have a massive lead (on tonight's show, some teams were ahead by 12 hours) and if a plane doesn't leave or a place not open, then they have to wait and usually the other teams can catch up.
Teri and Ian got elimated due to this. They were hit with a BUNCH of bad luck and they and Team Guido just couldn't catch up.
Next week, it'll be TWO whole hours. Thank goodness "Desperate Housewives" is in reruns so I can watch in peace!

I'm in love with "Dateline"
I've been bitching the last few weeks about how there's nothing to watch on Friday and Saturday nights. But a friend of mine pointed out to me that I forgot about "Dateline."
I freely admit it. 8 p.m. on Saturdays, I have a TV menage a trois with Ann Curry and Stone Phillips. I know "Dateline" has gone overboard with its "To Catch a Predator" series. (Haven't missed a one BTW).
But on Saturday nights, it's different. Usually it's a murder mystery and it's been fascinating. Tonight, we saw a case of two Mississippi teens killed another. The story was pretty twisted but it was fascinating.
Last week, we saw how a woman believed her own husband was innocent after her own niece fingered him in a horrible crime. But what's most amazing, is that Stone and Ann intro the story and then they are done!
After that, the evening goes downhill. I'm amazed that "Cops" and "America's Most Wanted" are still on TV.
I swear cops was on when I was in college back in the dark days of the 1980s. I wonder who is watching that show? But I guess those people can ask the same of me since I watch "Top Model."
Cruising through the channels, I see that NBC is trotting out those "Law & Order" reruns. Whoo-pie... (note sarcasm).
And then, finally I stumble on something good. "The Boondocks!!!!" OK, this show hasn't been on in almost a year, but who cares! The reruns beat almost anything on TV at 11:30.

Why is Friday night such a wasteland on TV?
So it's Friday night and because I'm kinda broke these days, I opted NOT to have a fabulous night out. I turned on the tube hoping to find something, anything to watch.
The best I could do is "Identity" where we saw Mary Lou Retton, one of the Boyz II Men, Billy Blanks and Craig from Craigslist. And VH1's "Top 40 Internet Stars." (yep, it was that sad!)
I posted previously about why I think programmers have given up on Saturday nights but is there really a reason why Friday is so bad?
It was just a few years ago when "Law & Order: SVU" was Friday night appointment TV. I didn't go out until I saw "Dick Wolf" on the credits. Now there's nothing. NO-THING.
I'm wondering if it's the Netflix factor where people rent movies or go out to movies and so the networks have given up.
I'm sure if there were fresh and original programming folks *might* stay home and tune in. Shows like "Lost" might work on this night. It's no secret that folks are bailing on this show because the lateness of the hour and the frustration but imagine if it aired at 8 p.m. Bars might hold "Get Lost" happy hours if a drinking game could be established (PSA here, drink responsibly).
Heck, it's worth a shot!

A coming out story....
"Ugly Betty" is one of the best shows on TV. Tonight it proved it. I laughed, I cried, I even did a happy dance.
Tonight, Mark, one of the minor characters had his mother visit town and he jumped through a LOT of hoops to try to convince this woman he was straight. He even pretended that Betty was his girlfriend so that he could make his mother happy.
But this being TV, lots of stuff came out, such as Ignacio being an illegal immigrant and Hilda being a single mom. The only person who WAS himself was little gay Justin who didn't give a damn about what this strange white lady thought of himself.
It was hysterical about how he went on and on about the "Dreamgirls" loss etc. Finally, Mark's mom went off about how tacky Betty's family was and how Justin disgusted her. Mark told her that she didn't have the right to talk about anyone especially Justin and then came out to her. She left and it broke Mark's heart but Betty being the saint she is reminded him that family really is the people you choose for yourself.
I cried, and cried because it reminded me of my coming out story. I remember blurting it out to one family member to hurt him, and then I told another one because at the time we were close. Finally, I told another and the another. Oddly enough, one of the ones I worried about the most has turned out to be the coolest ones about it. And those who I THOUGHT were going to be cool basically freaked out about it.
But I'm OK, because it's best to surround yourself with people who love and accept you NO MATTER WHAT.
I'm really glad that "Betty" has three gay characters on (Alexis the transexual, Mark and Justin) and that America has embraced this show.

Survivor: Is the like the worst season ever?
So tonight is Wednesday and "Survivor" is on. (Actually, I taped it) and they threw in another twist where they re-choose tribes. I'm yawning as I write this because for the first time while watching this show, I really don't care who wins.
I should care, but I don't. I don't know if it's the people or the game itself but I'm bored. One tribe consists sole of men. And they aren't cute either. I'm involved in a pool so I'm rooting for one guy who happens to be the old college roommate of a co-worker of mine. The all guy tribe is in the skany camp while the camp that has the sofa (I'm not kidding) and other cushy stuff gets populated by the folks who could use a few days of good food and rest.
BUT, because I was playing Nancy Drew over the weekend I stumbled across a bunch of spoilers. If the spoilers hold true, it's going to be REALLY interesting AFTER the merge.
American Idol.
I'm calling shenanigans on this show. What is up with the bad singers getting second and third chances while the good singers are slowly being shown the door. Stephanie and Sabrina deserve to still be in the contest while Sanjayuck and Hoochiefied Haley need to be loooong gone.
America's Next Top Model
Oh Tyra. I am truly our byotch because even though I know you are eeeeevvillll I am still seduced by your charms. Your stylist needs to be fired because he/she is totally seeing looks from Rhoda Morgenstern. Some of the girls are crazy (Jael, Renee) while some are just sweet (Whitney/ Britney) and others are just bitchy (Diana, Renee). That being said, I'm actually rooting for Jaslene.
Final thoughts: Yay! Prison Break is being renewed!!!!!!

Yo dawg, you're kinda pitchy...
Pitchy. Screechy. Yo factor. If these words don't make sense, then you haven't been watching "American Idol" this season.
I have no idea what the hell Randy Jackson says half the time. No one I know knows either and I know folks from all walks of life.
Clearly this season is going to be a battle between LaKisha and Melinda (that is if America doesn't screw it up) and then there's the Sanjaya factor.
Sanjaya clearly is gay and I want to root for him but the boy cannot sing. AT all. Seriously. He can't sing. He's cute but he's a baaad singer. The thing is, his hair is rocking. Pantene should call right now and book him before it's too late.
Besides Kisha and Melindy Doo, I am falling in love with Jordin. The girl has star potential all over her. It wouldn't surprise me if she wins this thing. She has everything, the looks, the youth and the voice. As the signs of tonight's show says, she sparkles. She may not be a size 2 but that's OK. I'm looking forward to seeing how this progresses.
And WTF is up with the girl who kept crying??????!!! What IS her deal????!! Look for her on YouTube or VH1's Best Week Ever. They totally are going to be all over this. Trust me. For real. And that's who been voting for him.
The Amazing Race
I'm worried about Uchenna and Joyce. They really did a rookie move this week and they came in dead last. Luckily it was a NEL thank goodness. I like Charla and Myrna but Myrna annoys me when she keeps referring to Charla's height.
And Charla clearly is the engine that keeps this team going. And Team Guido aka the OGGs (Old Gay Guys) revealed this week that they wore thongs. It's bad that one of them either has a bad toupee or a bad die job but also they wear thongs! At 58 years old, they are walking around wearing thongs???!! GAG (Sorry, I just threw up in my mouth a little).
The YGGs (young gay guys) Danny and Oswald are my favorites and not because Oswald was wearing a T-shirt that said Hamme(red). But because they were so cute chasing Phil around the Pitstop after they hauled a load of coal.
And before I forget, I'm kinda watching "Dancing With the Stars" but only to see if we can see Heather Mills and her fake leg come off!

Deal or No Deal
So I'm sitting here on the couch watching "Deal or No Deal" and they just did a crawl saying they were going to do a casting for the game show in my area in a few weeks. Wait, this just in, I'm now watching a commerical for it. I'm debating on whether or not I should go to try out: AGAIN.
Confession: I've tried out for this show and it's cousin "Identity." I know they are looking for crazy and whacked out people based on what I see on the show, but heck, it's nothing but time right?
You'll notice the posting is a little light right now because a lot of the good shows are in repeats or on hiatus.
The big news is whether or not "Veronica Mars" is cancelled. Today I watched the pilot and the Paris Hilton episode. Good times.
I keep going back and forth on whether I want the show back or not. I think the CW really, really did this show an injustice by meddling. Imagine how different the season would have been if the rape mystery had been THE mystery of the season. And of course LoVe took up waaay too much time.
I'd be curious to see Special Agent Mars but as long as Wallace, Weevil and Keith could come along. I like Mac a LOT but I could lose her if it meant more Wallace time.
Keep your fingers crossed on May 17 because that's when the "official" announcement will be made. Various Web sites are posting various plans to send to the CW chief to keep the show on the air. I think the thing that would speak volumes besides viewers is to get folks to buy the DVDs. If enough folks would do that, I think people there would take notice.
Looking at TWOP message boards folks are livvid. And looking at E!online's page, people are up in arms. And I can't say I blame this, the network too a smart, funny show and turned it into a pale imitation of itself.
Now I hope, to continue my charge to get this show saved.

Is "Veronica" really gone?
Today at work, a colleague came up to me and offered her condolences. I was like "What for?" and she said, "I know you're a fan of that show "Veronica" something and I just read that it got cancelled.
I almost wet my pants right then and there. I think I owe my employer a few dollars because for the next 20 minutes, I was all over the Internet trying to find a definitive answer about what was going on.
USA Today's "Pop Candy" blog was saying it wasn't a done deal. "Entertainment Weekly" didn't have a peep about it. Then I checked E!'s Kristin Veitch and she was all over it. She reported that the show would spring forward a few years and have Veronica coming out of the FBI Academy. (In my real life, a good friend of mine literally is a few weeks from completing her time over at Quantico so I'm going to be curious of how accurate they will be). I e-mailed my friend Jump the Snark and let him know the news along with a few other folks who follow the Neptune gang.
The rest of my day was just horrible because my thoughts kept drifting back to Veronica. Will they keep Wallace? Keith? Logan? Mac? Backup??? Why is the CW doing this to us??? And then I realized, that Veronica isn't as much see TV as it used to be, but it was my comfort, my joy, my hope on Tuesday nights.
Not since "Buffy" have I been so addicted to a show. And I remember at the Comic-Con this summer, it was a wait to get into the room. Folks adore this show and my lord, does the CW actually have anything worth replacing it? Yes, folks did watch "The Pussycat Dolls," but can they substain THAT show for years?
I don't want to cut and run and will watch the show to the last frame, but I blame the CW for this. Evertime I turn on that danged station, they are hawking "America's Next Top Model" (a disclaimer, I watch that show too) or "The Search for the Next Pussycat Doll" but I don't see VM commericals.
I knew we were headed down the wrong path when the network demanded shorter mysteries instead of a season long mystery. I knew when they took the show off on "hiatus" that it was a bad sign. And when we saw the last episode, it felt very "series" finale, instead of mystery finale.
I pray that if they do officially cancel the show, that at least we'll get some resolution. I'd like to see Veronica finally MOVE THE HECK ON from Logan and they become friends. I'd like to see Wallace and Veronica spend more time together. To me, they were the core of the show. Two outsiders who become friends and strive to do and be the right thing. As I type this, the episode "Betty and Veronica" springs to mind. In that episode, Veronica goes undercover to find a missing school mascot and it's revealed that she secretly has been baking cookied and slipping them in Wallace's locker to support him as a jock. When he confronts her about it and says she's not into the whole "school spirit" thing, she says, to him that he is and that's what's important. Later in the episode, she actually goes to a game to support him. Another tender moment is later in the season, Veronica FINALLY comes clean about her rape and she goes straight to Wallace's house when she needed to talk about it.
I pray this isn't the end of the Neptune gang but I'd rather them end it on a high note than drag it down.

Is this the end for Veronica?
Yep, you read right. Today I've come across articles in Variety and USA Today both saying that Veronica is once again "On the Bubble." While this hasn't been the BEST season of the show, that would be Season 1, I feel like it deserves another season.
And I'm not alone because here are others who agree. The folks at www.televisionwithoutpity.com are organizing a campaign to save the show. I find it shocking that EW and others haven't done articles to help the show. Heck, this week "Ugly Betty" managed to score a cover.
I'm also hoping that the PTB at the CW will recognize the cultural imporance of this show. It's like the younger and just as smart sister of "Buffy." BTW (Saturday, March 10 was the 10 year anniversary of Buffy." (GAWD, I'm getting old).
I'm going to launch my own personal campaign to get everyone I know to watch the show. Wish me luck.

Ding dong! Rob and Ambuh are GONE!!!!
Readers, I wish you could have seen me five minutes ago. I was doing the happy dance. I would have done a backflip but I was scared that I would hurt myself.
I don't know how many of you are "Amazing Race" fans but the king and queen of nasty were eliminated tonight! Rob and Ambuh are gone, gone, GONE.
These folks lied and lied and lied and karma came back and bit them in the you know what! I cannot believe how happy I am. It's like I won the lottery but I'm still poor. But back to the story, it all came down to a the Racers sorting through a mailbag and looking for a letter addressed to them. Rob is NOT the best detail person as witnessed earlier in the episode with him misspelling Phillipines as Phillipeans. I laughed a good five minutes on that one.
Some of you may say the race will now be boring because these two dominated most of the legs, but I think it'll be more interesting. If I had to wager, I'd put money on Uchenna and Joyce and Danny and Oswald. I'd also wouldn't count the OGGs (Old gay guys) out.
I pray the Beauty Queens are the next to go though!
Tomorrow, I'm headed over to Jump the Snark's house to see what REAL TV is supposed to look like in HDTV.

Why do we trust America to vote? Seriously.
I just got finished watching tonight's episode of "American Idol" and shock doesn't EVEN begin to describe what I'm feeling.
First a disclaimer, I haven't watched for the last two seasons because of what I considered bad voting and shenanigans of the producers of the show. But I was coerced back in and so I'm hooked for the season. Tonight two of the worst singers FINALLY got the boot!
But that's not the shocking part. Jared and Sabrina - who both CAN sing- got cut. I'm floored. Jared is a super hottie but unfortunately I fear was tooo cheezy for America. Sabrina was robbed. Plain and simple ROBBED. I think when Simon said out loud that he thought another contestant should go that it was the undoing of Sabrina because this girl (cough, cough Haley) was saved.
The tragedy of this is that the Top 12 singers get to go on tour when the season ends, gets paid and gets to build a fan base. I hope that Timbaland, Brian McKnight, Missy Elliot or SOMEBODY was watching so that her career can be saved.
What is AMERICA thinking????!!!!
Are you watching "America's Next Top Model?"
If not you are really missing some of the BEST hours on TV. For real tho. This week, we went back to school and were treated to Tyra's interpretation of Rhoda Morgenstern. Her stylist needs to be fired. Who wears headwraps in 2007? Seriously, she looks like she's ready to go work for "Have A Nice Day Cafe."
The right girl got cut this week, (So long Samantha) but I'm worried for the season. NONE of these girls seem to have that IT factor. And I like they have plus sized models but both of those girls need to step up their game.
My show is boring.
What's going on with "24?" This was the most boring episode of the season. I think the writing staff is taking a break and the interns have taken over. While it's OK, but to me it's not up the normal quality of the show. I guess after having bombs go off and folks tortured with drills, it's kinda hard to top that.
I miss Veronica
This week the search for the next Pussycat Doll aired. I admit, I watched for about 5 whole minutes. I couldn't take it anymore. Sadly, people stayed for the whole show because it scored like gangbusters. I fear for "Veronica" Plus today I read on the TV Guide website that Piz is being courted for the "Grey's"spinoff. Unless he's getting written off, it's NOT a great sign.
I (heart) Heroes.
IcannotbelievetheyaregoingtomakeuswaituntilAPRIL!!! (I know it's one word, but that was the sentiment that was expressed by me and my fellow Heroes watchers. "Lost" should really work to hire some of their writers because they have stolen the good juju from them. I watched "Lost" last night and was bored silly. I'm thisclose to giving up on that show for good.

Can you learn from reality TV?
The other day I was at work and someone mentioned that they were watching old episodes of "The Golden Girls" and I said I practically owned the whole series.
She said that she tried to watch something on TV but there was nothing but dumb reality shows. I was a *bit* peeved and told her about great shows like "The Amazing Race." She said she could watch that but not "Survivor" and "I Love New York."
I couldn't argue with her.
But I don't agree with her either. Let's face it, there is a LOT of trash out there, but there's some good too.
Here's what I've learned from reality TV.
Cheaters: While I don't catch every episode, I've picked up a few clues from this show. The premise: somone suspects their spouse/partner of cheating. A detective crew is sicced on them and then they investigate. Nine times out of 10 they are cheating. They are then confronted and wacky high jinks ensue.
Here's what I learned, (Not that I have a cheating heart, I've been in a relationship for almost five years now!).
Inspect all new knicknacks that show up in your house. Their favorite things it to put hidden cameras in homes and these cheaters are stupid enough to bring their new lover home. And the camera is rolling as they start getting busy in full view.
Don't go to "Applebee's" for some reason, a LOT of these folks take their dates to this place.
Don't kiss in public. NO kissing at the door or at the car. Go inside the OTHER person's house and don't stay longer than 5-10 minutes.
Hotels are NOT your friend. The clerks can rat you out if they suspect you're cheating. (Seriously)
America's Next Top Model: Tyra, I am your TV slave. But here's what I've learned.
Know your angles. You never know WHEN or where you're going to be photographed so always be prepared.
Anything is possible, don't doubt yourself. YOU are your OWN biggest enemy.
I Love New York. Even ghetto girls need love too!
Survivor: It's the ultimate in office politics. The key to getting along is to NOT have too strong of a personality but being true to yourself. You also need the RIGHT people supporting you in your endeavors while NOT selling out. (I'm still mastering this little gem).
The Amazing Race: There are beautiful places in the world besides the good old USA. Also, in competition, the only person you should trust completely is your partner and sometimes you both have to take risks.
Well, that's it for this week, today is my honey's b-day and we're off to celebrate!

Do you know the news?
Yes! Two posts in one day. Don't get used to this but I digress.
I've stumbled across this "Frontline" documentary about an industry that's near and dear to my heart: journalism. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/newswar/# is the link to the series but it goes into detail about how journalism isn't *quite * dead yet and how folks are using the Internet to get news. It also talks about blogs and how people mistake opinion for news.
Interesting stuff. You CAN watch the whole series online so check it out.

What is going ON with American Idol?
I normally post on Sundays but I HAD to post tonight.
I just sat through an excruciating hour of TV. Tonight, Nick, AJ, Aliana and Leslie were kicked out. While Sundance, Sanjaya and Antonella all lived ANOTHER freaking day.
I stopped watching this show a few years ago because the problem is, it's NOT a singing contest, it's a popularity contest. And that is the difference. Sundance, Sanjaya and Antonella have OK voices, but they are NOT great singers. Seriously.
Sanjaya who is a cutie is getting the teen-ager/grandma votes and that's what's keeping him alive. Antonella might be getting the Paris Hilton boost since lewd photos of her surfaced on the Internet. (Wanna bet that her friend who auditioned with her *might* have something to do with it, or someone who knows them both?)
Sundace is charming and depending on the song, he can sing. But does he deserve to stay? NO.
I wish I could bail but it's like a trainwreck, I've got to witness all of the casualities.
And since I'm blogging, here's the week in review so far.
Monday
I am in "Heroes" heaven. All hands on those who got teary-eyed at the last five minutes when Claire said goodbye to her Dad? I was a sobbing MESS! For real.
Hayden and Jack acted their asses off and they both deserve accolades for this.
Meanwhile over on "24," it's plodding along but it doesn't grab me as it used to. I'm still loyal to Jack but I have to say that unless stuff starts moving along, I'll be DVRing it and watching "Heroes" first.
Tuesday
Is the shark circling around "Veronica Mars." We found out that Tim the TA killed Dean O'Dell and the reason was to set Professor Landry because he didn't give him a recommendation. It was very anticlimatic and very boring. After the shocking death of Lamb, I expected more this week. But alas, no.
The problem with this show is that it is veering away from the characters we know and love. (Wallace and Weevil are basically extras with a few lines every few shows, Mac is lovely but we don't see her nearly enough. I still don't have a "feel" for Piz or Parker as people.) Another problem is the MOTW (Mystery of the Week) has gotten waaay too easy. It's almost "Murder, She Wrote" bad. And when the show returns on MAY 1!!!!! It'll be standalone mysteries. I fear this may be the last season we'll be visiting the folks over in Neptune. And if it continues to sink in quality, then I'd rather see it gone.
Because it's been a crazy week, I'm behind in my viewing on "Lost" and "Law & Order, SVU." I'll catch you all up in a few weeks.
One of my friends who's addicted to "The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency" points out there is a TON of male nudity or half-nekkid men on that show. I'm going to have to catch up during a marathon to see what I've been missing. Plus, the moved the show to Tuesday nights away from "Lost."

Oprah! Oprah! Oprah!!!!!
Yep. I saw lady O today. It was amazing!!!
We left San Diego at around 3 a.m. and I managed to get us there around 5:30 a.m and the waiting began. And we waited, and waited, and waited and waited.
Finally around 7 we managed to get on a bus. And then we waited and waited and waited. Then we got inside the Kodak theater and we waited and waited more.
By this time, I was tired and hungry but my excitement kept me fueled for a while.
At 10, Oprah made her appearance the audience went WILD! I'm so not kidding. And for the next 45 minutes we laughed, we laughed, and laughed some more. The show is a well-oiled machine and the time flew by.
And now here's a few things about Oprah you probably don't know: She has a potty mouth. She dropped "bitch" and "ass" a few times.
* She's also very, very particular. She recounted this story about how Gayle wanted some monkey bread and how tired she was. I'm amazed that she and Gayle are still friends. She's also very bossy.
Despite all that, it was worth EVERY second!

The Oscars!
So I'm like two hours into the Oscars and I have issues.
1) WTF: Eddie Murphy got robbed.
2) Ellen isn't as funny as I had hoped.
3) SOFUD (Save us from ugly dresses)!!!!!!
4) Countries have risen and fallen in the time the show has gone on!
I had taped all this Oscar stuff in the hopes of giving you this brilliant blog about how wonderful this show was going to be but it's really, really dull and I'm debating on whether or not I should flip over to "The Amazing Race."
Yep, it's THAT boring.
And now, the week in review:
Monday
I've decided I'm going to invest in sleeping pills. Why? Because I get too worked up about "Heroes," "Prison Break" and "24." Last week, I was up until 2 a.m. wondering what's going to happen to Jack now? Will Linc and Michael finally get to Panama? And OH. MY. GOD! Simone was killed!! (Yay!!)
Tuesday
We're getting close to solving the mystery of "Who killed Dean O'Dell?" And this seemed to be the WEEK OF SHOCKING DEATHS!! Because Poor Sheriff Lamb bit the dust. How I'll miss seeing him in the credits each week! And that sucked that he got bumped up to a series regular only to be killed. Now, I'm worried about Wallace and Weevil because he got more screen time than they did.
Wednesday
"Lost" you've lost me. That is all. I don't want to see another Jack flashback and now I won't have to because I'm giving it ONE more week and then I'm done. For real.
Thursday
"Surivor" is getting bor-ing. I thought it might be exciting this season but unless something dramatic happens I might have to read online recaps or something.
Sadly, there was no "Ugly Betty," and no Justin. =-(
And now, I've got to go to bed BECAUSE I'm GOING TO SEE OPRAH!!!!!!!!
Look for a blog ALL about it later on this week!

What! Is! Your! Identity!!!
So on Friday night, I was sitting here watching "1 vs. 100" and saw a scroll saying that NBC was looking for contestants for a show they aired back in the fall called "Identity."
I thought, what the hell, I'll try. I had tried out for "Deal or No Deal"
and didn't get on. So I did it.
Six. Count'em SIX hours of my life I'll NEVER get back. It was long. It was tiring and it was mis-er-able.
I should have known this was going to go sour when on their sheet giving the details about what the day would entail, there were typos GALORE. Words like "too" instead of "to" and "you" instead of "your." A bunch of us in the line were laughing at how bad it was. And of course it's bad when you misspell the name of your OWN show.
When I arrived, there were about 60 people there, by the end of the afternoon, there were around 180. It was quite obvious this group was ill prepared to handle that many people. Thank GOD it wasn't like "Price Is Right" or "DOND" because we would have NEVER gotten out of there.
The tryout was to get two photos of you taken and then be taped saying what you would do with the money. The casting director was this old crone named Laura who looked as if she cast the play where Lincoln was assassinated.
And I was forced to sit by a guy with bad breath, a woman who KNEW everything and this woman whose elevator didn't quite make it to the top. This woman was SCARY. And CLINGY. Her eyes looked as if she were holding on to her sanity by a slim thread. Her tryout was hysterical. I mean she screamed and did the typical : WOW!!! I'm SOOOOOOOOOO GLAD to be here!!!! I'm sure folks in Alaska heard this woman. I pray they don't select her, I don't need to EVER see this chick again.
My tryout was OK and she gave me the comment "GOOD ENERGY!!" and I believe she was interested. I don't even care if I get on the show, but hell, at least I tried.
The week in review
Sunday
Last Sunday's "Desperate Housewives" was one of the best of the season. That ending was so OH! MY! GOD!! fine that I can't wait until 9 p.m. Mike causing Orson to fall off the side of a parking garage was shocking. I pray that Orson is dead because that whole storyline annoys me.
Monday
The "Heroes"/"24" battle is heating up. Both shows are my MUST SEE NOW TV. I don't sleep well on Monday nights because I'm up thinking about what's coming up next. Of the "Heroes" bunch, I really care about Claire and Hiro. The rest I can take or leave. I want Nikki/Jessica dead. I pray she's the one who dies tomorrow but my money is on MrMuggle'smama aka Claire's adoptive mom. And where is Claire's brother? This week, someone is supposed to die and someone is supposed to fly. What the heck that means, I dunno.
Over on "24," I'm getting a bit tired of the dysfunctional Bauer family. And the violence is getting to be over the top. So far we've seen Jack bite out the throat of a terrorist, a terrorist stabbing another in the knee and last week Morris being tortured with a drill.
Tuesday
Oh "American Idol" I AM your BITCH. I don't want to be, but I am. Paula is batty, Simon is mean and Randy, who knows WTF he is saying but I love him anyway!
And on NBC I'm totally addicted to "Dateline's: To Catch a Predator." I've seen the scenario a gazillion times already. But each time, I'm shocked at who shows up at the house looking to molest a child. I mean c'mon folks, if you have to sneak and do anything in life, then you're doing the wrong thing. It's just that simple.
Dear TPTB over on "Veronica Mars": Thank you! BEST mystery of the week so far! LOVED that you made it a two-parter! I have no idea how this one is going to end! But I'm also ticked because you faked us out with the 5 minute appearance of Wallace!
Over on "Law & Order: SVU" things seem to get back on track. And it had a special guest star who's acting I've admired for a while. Oh "Everwood" my Monday nights are colder without you guys. I miss you sooo much!!!
Wednesday
"Lost!" IS! BACK!!! At least that's what the promos have been screaming. And I'm happy to say, that it is and it isn't. "Lost" needs to be fixed. The first thing they need to do is to move it from 10 p.m. It's waaay too late to be watching something this intense. The storytelling is great though. I'd suggest that they move "Lost" to Tuesday's at 8 p.m. There's very little there and it might be it's best bet to get some of the viewers back.
Thursday
"Ugly Betty" and "Survivor" are facing off again. This season of "Survivor" hasn't grabbed my attention yet. Meanwhile, the fashionista in me is loving ever second of "UB." Last week's when Justin gave a one-boy re-enactment of this play was the funniest thing I've seen on TV in a while.
"Survivor" has thrown a few twists in the game but these folks are bo-ring. I hope it picks up after the merge.
Friday
Have you watched "1 vs. 100?" If you haven't you need to. It's AMAZING and stunning at how stupid people are. I mean really, really stupid. If I were there, I'd be winning millions. I think they intentionally choose stupid folks. I hope these people are at home cringing at how stupid they look. Sample question: "Which one of these is a single celled organism?" Choices were: A) a squirrel b) An ameboa c) Calista Flockhart. Do you know the woman actually needed to use one of her helps??? I'm NOT kidding. Stooooopid!
Saturday. If you haven't seen this skit then you are missing the best of "Saturday Night Live." "SNL" has stepped up BIG time! It's like hysterically funny this season and it hasn't been that way in such a long time. It's worth staying up late on Saturday nights!
And before I go: Do you know about "The Secret?" If not, then you've either not cared or been under a rock. The high priestess of the media aka Oprah gave her blessing to "The Secret." Basically, it's this: if you want better things in your life, you have to be open to it. If I were this guy I'd sue because he got ripped off. We'll see if "The Secret" and its followers can truly change the world. I do.

Is there such a thing as too much TV?
My co-workers and I agree: This IS the best TV season ever.
Seriously. I remember a few seasons ago there was NOTHING, and I do mean nothing really worth watching.
Now there is something to watch every night with the exception of Saturdays. And I think that's a shame.
Some of my fondest memories as a kid was watching Saturday night TV with my parents. I loved "Mary Tyler Moore" and the other Saturday night shows.
Today's TV folks have pretty much turned Saturdays into crappy TV night and reruns. What they ARE forgetting, is there are a LOT of people who elect to stay home on Saturdays and are hungry for something to watch.
I'd love it if Saturday was reality TV night. Or if they showed "classic" TV shows from their vaults. I know there's TV Land but it sure would be a nice surprise to turn on the TV and see "The Best of Buffy."
Or here's a thought, all family original programming. I've been enjoying the "Golden Girls" on DVD.
But back to my original question: Is there such a thing as too much TV? Maybe:
I know on Mondays the "Heroes"/"24" battle is getting fierce because both of the shows are in top form.
Thursday is getting tough because "Survivor" looks interesting. And I love "Ugly Betty" because it's great to see a show about normal people. I LOOOOVE Justin, Marc and Amanda. The truly are the funniest people on TV.
I've been sucked in to "American Idol" this season so I have to see it play out. Some of the Top 24 suck. Like for real. But I have to see who's going to come out on top.
Even Friday the game shows are good: I love "1 vs. 100" but the folks there are stupid. The questions are soo easy that a fifth grader could answer them. (Which reminds me, I'll be blogging on the new show on Fox "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?" I sure hope so!

American Idol: Hollywood
What is UP with this show? Apparently, I'm deaf. I must be because a bunch of folks they sent home tonight actually sounded decent. And some, you could see the train wreck coming a mile off.
I feel sad for the Obviously Gay Teenager Matt. He wanted it so bad and it was sad they way he alluded to his mom never hugging him, or loving him. I was rooting for him, but when I saw him sing, it was kinda bad. Really.
It was also intering to see how they went about selecting who stayed and who left. And lord, can someone shoot Ryan Seacrest please. Waaay too dramatic. Waay too much drama.
But I'll keep watching.

Anna Nicole and other TV foolishness
If you haven't heard, poor Anna Nicole Smith is no more. If you haven't heard, you've been under a ROCK because it's been on all the FREAKING time!
I'm sitting here on a rainy, blustery Sunday afternoon and CNN, Fox and everyone is discussing this woman and how she died.
Anna Nicole Smith was a train wreck waiting to happen. We all knew she'd be dead someday but we didn't think of it happening this soon. My theory is that herbabydaddy is her son. I know, but it IS possible.
And now the week in review on TV.
Monday
OK, Mondays at 9 p.m. is the HOTTEST hour on TV. Jack is back and "24" is off to a great start. So far this season, we've seen L.A. nuked, we've seen Jack's dysfunctional family including his dad killing Jack's brother.
Over on "Heroes," we got to see Hiro's dad. A.K.A Mr Sulu 2007 model. And Claire meets her daddy and it's none other than Nathan! It's not too shocking because the stupid promo folks practically did everything but shout it was Nathan!
Tuesday
Yes, I've jumped on the "American Idol" freak show wagon.
Paula Abdul is on drugs. There I've said it. Girlfriend has serious issues. It's like appalling it's so bad. If she's not careful, she may be booted. And speaking of BAD: Some of the contestants are delusional. Go to YouTube because they have a gazillon clips of the cracked up and crazy contestants.
Veronica Mars.
We all need to start praying now. Veronica Mars is having an OK season. Not good. Not great but just OK. I fear that OK may NOT be enough to get a Season Three, which is too bad.
Here's what's going wrong:
1) Too easy MOTW. I'm no detective, but the Mystery of the Week is getting so easy that third-graders could possibly figure out whodidit. I mean seriously, it's getting "Murder, She Wrote" bad. (Remember how in MSW that it usually was the first or second new person she met was the killer)
2) Not enough of the folks we love. Wallace is an extra for the most part. Weevil just drops in and out. Mac has been on two and a half episodes the entire season. Even the new kids Parker and Piz aren't featured enough. I miss the Wallace/Veronica moments from Season One.
3) Too much LoVe. They're together! They're apart! They're confused and I'm bored! I'm like crap or get OFF the pot already! It's so very "Dawson's Creek" and not in a good way.
Wednesday
"Lost" is back. I was kinda meh on it, but then I decided to tune in and now I'm hooked. Juliet is the bomb and I want to know more about her. But I'm sick of Kate. BTW: "Lost" is on the cover of "Entertainment Weekly" again! If they could give "Veronica Mars" a cover, they might see an uptick in the ratings. "Lost" has had, like 1,000 covers already!
The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency
This show has gotten so good it's not even funny.
JP who many people might remember from last season's "Survivor" signed up to be part of Janice's modeling agency. And then the folks from "Instinct" magazine came a'calling. JP had to come out on national TV and I'm quite concerned that this was all a set up.
A celebrity blogger said that JP was spotted with Reichen in West Hollywood and then a few weeks later they wanted him to be on the cover of their magazine. The moment where he had to come out troubled me because I know what the feeling is like. It truly is a life changing moment, but I don't know if I could do it on National TV.
Thursday
Survivor is back. Only this time, it is waaaay different. Instead of both of the tribes roughing it, one tribe is living in the life of luxary with a couch, a toilet, and even silverwear! The other is roughing it on the beach with next to nothing. Another twist is that the hid the hidden immunity idols near both camps to that folks will have to be stealty to go looking for it. It's too early to tell how this is all going to turn out, but one thing I do know. I hate Dre/aka/Dreamz and Rocky because the both annoy the crap out of me.
Ugly Betty
Since I last posted, this show has worn a gazillion awards. I'm glad too because it's one of the hidden gems of the season. Mark, Amanda and Justin all seem like friends of mine. And of course Betty. I loved (and figured out) the twist with Alex/Alexis early but it was great to see it play out.
Friday
My new secret addition: 1 vs. 100. I need to BE on this show. The questions are so easy!! But it shows there are very stupid people in the world. Watch sometime, and you'll see what I mean.
That's it for now, I'll be updating this on Sunday afternoons so make sure you come back and see what the Remote holds for next week!

The return of American Idol and other random thoughts
Before I begin, thanks for reading. It's been too long. My computer melted down and then I forgot my password but I'm back with a vengence. Let's see what the remote holds these days.
I'm sitting here watching "American Idol" and unfortunately, it's cringeworthy yet again. I don't get this show. I know we need to see some of the freaks audition but Jesus H. Christ! I swear they find the absolute worst people ever to audition for this show. What I'd like to see is a better mix. Show us a freak or two but show us the people we're going to be watching for the next 18 weeks.
If one of these folks will truly be the next "American Idol" then show me them when the were nobody and let me follow them. Ryan Seacreast annoys the snot out of me. I can't wait until we get to the finals. It's amazing how many folks out here can't sing. One thing's for sure, I can't wait to see how this turns out.
Veronica Mars
Yay! My show is back. Boo, they are going to make some changes. I hate to say this but I'm getting this sinking feeling that this will be the last season of our favorite female detective. I liked last night's episode but the MOTW was about a monkey???! Hello! Dean O'Dell is dead, let's get to that and leave the monkey alone. I was also dismayed that we didn't see hide nor hair of Wallace. I miss WaVe.
I Love New York.
Yep. I'm watching this. I didn't watch Flavor of Love but lord this thing is a hot mess and I'm loving EVERY second of this! New York is soooo ghetto and all of her men are crazy. I have to say I love her mom who's just as crazy and ghetto as New York too. Plus you gotta love men named Bones, Pootie and my fave: Whiteboy.
Heroes
When I was a little boy I used to pray for superpowers. Invisibility. Invulnerablity. ANYTHING. Alas, no radioactive bugs bit me. My parents were my parents and I got nothing. Luckily, through "Heroes" particularily Hiro, I get to live out my fantasies. I love the fact that he's the only person who's HAPPY about having powers. I used to hate Claire but she's also my favorite. Monday's episode showed me that this is one tough cookie and I think in the end, she's going to be the one that takes down her "dad."
Ugly Betty
I LOVE this show. It gets better and better. I have to give myself kudos for calling the Alex/Alexis twist. I figured it out when they discovered that Faye really did die. But what the heck happened to her body. I suspect that in the beginning, it WAS Faye but they switched the story midstream. I'm glad though that America Ferrara got a Golden Globe. It shows that ordinary people put in extraordinary situations can do well. Yay America!
The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency
I love Janice! She is crazy and I love every single second of it. Later on tonight JP from "Survivor" is asked to be on the cover of Instinct. Based on sighting on other Web site, he does!

That one bad episode
You know how every season, your favorite show seems to hit a bump and then rebounds?
Tonight's episode for "Heroes" seemed to hit a bump for me.
So many obvious questions that didnt' get answered. For example, Peter's FB Simone sold a painting that Issac did about Claire. They're trying track down the painting but why didn't Peter just ASK Simone what the painting looked like?
If she's an art dealer, she wouldn't send stuff out into the world without knowing what it looks like.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say Mr. Linderman is actually Sylar. He's too involved in this story for us not to have seen him yet. Of course, they could be still casting the actor.
Micah's powers were displayed tonight. It's still murky exactly WHAT he can do. He operated a broken phone but I don't know if that means he's a techno mutant or that he can make his mind do anything. Hopefully, further exploration of his powers will be seen.
They gave Niki's alter ego a name "Jessica" which I'm not too wild about. A bunch of other stuff happened but it just all seemed off.
Desperate Housewives
One show that didn't suck this week was Desperate Housewives. Be.st show in a LOONG time!
All the actresses were on point and I think this episode should be submitted for the Emmy reel.

Can Monday nights get any better?
As Whitney Houston might say: "Hell to tha naw...."
I just got finished watching what I think is the best night of TV on air these days.
Between "Prison Break" and "Heroes" the night if full of adrenaline.
On tonight's PB, practically everybody got captured. The Nasty T-Bag, the stupid LJ and Linc.
We learned Malone's secret - he killed the last guy who escaped him and buried him in his OWN back yard. Now that's DEEP!
And on "Heroes" we learned that Niki is a bad ass, but D.L's badder as he took $2 million and his son. IT rocked!!!
I don't know what I'm going to do when "24" returns. But I'll worry about THAT then!

You take the good, you take the bad...
And no, that's not a plea to buy this DVD. Unless, of course you want to. =-)
This week was pretty bad in TV land.
Let's start with my favorite "America's Next Top Model." If you haven't been watching, the girl who SHOULD have won this season was booted. And mean, OLD, Tyra was the one that helped her go. It was a kick to see Fabio on the show but he's looking a little long in the tooth. (GREAT body though).
With Brooke gone, I'm throwing my support behine CariDee.
I'm still in shock about Jeffery winning over on "Project Runway" and there still are NO WORDS.
The three bright spots of the week: "Heroes" , "Veronica Mars" and "The Amazing Race!"
"Heroes" keeps getting better and I'm telling everyone I know to watch this show. Hiro is my favorite character and Claire aka cheerleader lass aka OMG, she healed from THAT???!!
The writing is crisp, cool and fantastic. They need to up the ante on the special effects though.
As far as VM, I think I need to write a note to Rob Thomas.
Dear Rob,
I am one of Veronica's biggest fans. Could you bring my show all the way back please and not give me glimmers here and there? Tuesday's episode was closer to the Veronica I know and love. Last week's episode I'm going to put under the "one bad episode per season" file. You've used up your bad episode early but that's OK. The rest HAVE to be good.
Kisses....
P.S. More Wallace. More Weevil (but keep him away from the crafts table because boyfriend is F-A-T but still kinda sexy). More Mac. Less LoVe and Less MOTW. More progress on the rape mystery is needed.
TTFN
And the Amazing Race got sooo good in the last five minutes. THANK GOD Sarah dumped Peter!!!!

Things I hate about the new TV season ...
There are so many things I absolutely love, love, love (Heroes, Ugly Betty) and things I secretly adore (America's Next Top Model, Project Runway, Dateline) and things I can take or leave (Grey's Anatomy, The Nine) but there are a few things I absolutely, positively hate!
Opening credits
This season, both Veronica Mars and America's Next Top Model both found the need to change their credits. They both suck. And they take the life out of the show. In Veronica's case, the credits just seem to angsty and not fun. In ANTM, I could do with out the "look how cute I am" that Tyra seems to be saying to the audience. LOVE the shows, HATE the credits.
Too much on at one time
My poor DVR died a week ago. Luckily, the cable folks came out to rectify the situation. I know I'm putting it in overdrive by watching a lot at 10 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. With Nip/Tuck, SVU, MTV's True Life, Project Runway (that ended yesterday thank God), The Nine it's no wonder it didn't burn out sooner.
Let's face it, these shows don't ALL need to be on at the same time. Spread the wealth. NOTHING is on Saturday nights. When I was a kid, Saturdays were filled with great TV but now the programming folks don't care. But there are a TON of people who stay home Saturday nights or don't go out until at least 11 p.m. so why NOT give them something to watch?
Same show, different people
I really, really tried to like the new woman on Law & Order SVU. But she's NO Mariska. She's too harsh, too mean. I'm trying to like the new characters on Veronica but I prefer more Weevil, and Wallace and less Parker and Piz.

It's been a while...
Apologies. For those of you who've been reading this blog, I apologize for not posting for a few weeks, but we've worked out the technical difficulties and are ready to roll!
Veronica Mars
I'm sitting here awaiting the start of the third episode of "Veronica Mars," and in my opinion, this season is off to a good start. I really like the new characters of Parker and Pez. I knew from the second episode of last season that I didn't like Jackie.
The rapist mystery looks to be a good one and I've got a sneaky feeling that we've seen the rapist already. I like that the magic of Veronica is back but I HATE those new opening credits. I understand the reasoning, new point in life, new opening but I kinda liked the chalk drawings and the song by the Dandy Warhols.
Heroes
I am this show's B-I-T-C-H! From last weeks jaw dropping cliffhanger to this week's, it's been awesome. Some friends and I were debating on what we would do if we had super powers. Would we really take the law into our own hands? I'm thinking in certain instances, I would.
I love the Hiro character and Claire becomes interesting to me week after week.
The Nine
I missed it last week. I'm going to catch this weeks and see if it's still worth watching.
America's Next Top Model
LOVE this season! Although I can't find a girl to root for. And tomorrow night it looks interesting with someone coming out of the closet!
Project Runway
Michael had BETTER win. Period.
Survivor
This week, it looks as if they are pulling out the two-people-must-be-booted off stunt. Let's hope Nathan and Cao Boi makes it through the cut.

The best TV season ever?
I put a question mark in the header but I really am believing that this is the best TV season in years.
Every night, there's a TON of stuff to watch and even more on the cable outlets. I'm busy trying to catch up on stuff I haven't had a chance to watch.
As I type this I'm "watchlistening" to "Studio 60" from last week. My BFF David says I should give this show a chance so I'm trying. Today I told him I was going to dump it but he said to try and so I told him since he hit me with the sledgehammer of reason, I would. I'm not digging
Amanda Peet. She's totally unbelivable as a network head. A better casting choice might have been Heather Locklear. But since Heather has been a show killer lately, "LAX" anyone? maybe it's just as well.
I have dumped Brothers and Sisters because Calista Flockhart is just too scary to watch.
"Kidnapped" might be falling to the side too because of better choices out there. Like "The Nine."
My new faves are "Heroes" and "Ugly Betty" . The niephew on "UB" makes it worth watching.

America's Next Top Model and Project Runway
Wednesday night has been dubbed the "big, bad, night of fashion" at my house. With "America's Next Top Model" and "Project Runway" we love both shows.
Last night, (sorry for the delay) both had some of the best episodes EVER. On ATNM, we learn that Monique is a true bitch because she lost a challenge. We also see that Anchal is ghetto fabulous and basically shows Monique that if she doesn't start any "sh", there won't be any "it."
We also see that haircuts and dye jobs can be traumatic for many people apparently. Jada loses it as her precious locks are cut. She gets this super cute Halle Berry style cut but doesn't see it. Monique cries because no one has ever seen her without her weave. (Another Web site has deemed her Menique, but I'm going to call her the Bitchiest of Then All and call it a day.)
In the end, we learn that Megan can't cut it when a bunch of weave that moves (not kidding here) and gets "lost" in photos. It's sad too because she had such a compelling story about her mom saving her during a plane crash. I also love how they tossed in that she was a lesbian, much like Kim was two seasons ago.
What I totally hated was: The twins being in the same name card. They are TWO people, people, let them have separate ones. And I really, really hate the new opening with Tyra. ICK!
Project Runway
Michael Knight is my secret TV boyfriend. Last night, I was worried about my secret TV boyfriend. This week's challenge was having the designers create their own design for the opening of Elle magazine. This freaked everyone out because each of the designers took a different approach.
But first, let's boo Uli for STEALING Nazri from Michael!!!! They had perfect chemistry and she took it. And apparently some mojo wore off since she won the challenge. She did the same print dress as usual, but this time she made it short. YAWN!
Laura did what she does (YAWN). And Jeffery did something different but it didn't work. And Michael's design sucked. I think Nina truly saved his ass.

Obscessed with Oprah and Veronica
I have a confession. I absolutely love, love Oprah. My DVR is set to tape the show daily. I know I watch a lot of trash but I know that every show I come away learning something from it.
Right now, I'm getting a kick out of watching a road trip with her and her best friend Gayle King. Gayle crackes me the hell up. She reminds me of me. She likes to sing in the car. She knows a LOT of musci and TV. If I weren't gay, I'd probably be the perfect man for her.
Veronica Mars IS smarter than me.
It's ONE week until the Veronica Mars premiere and I cannot wait until my show is back on full time!!!

Heroes!!!!!!
I had the pleasure seeing the pilot during Comic-Con in July. Tonight, I rewatched and got goosebumps again.
The cast so far: Claire the cheerleader who appears to be indestructible.
Nikki the stripper who's power is a bit hazy right now.
Hiro who can teleport and bend time
The brothers, whose names I forget, appears to share the power of flight.
And Isaac, the drug addicted artist who paints pictures of the future.
I'm hoping this show will find an audience. It's really that good!

NBC has brought their A game back this fall
With so much to watch, I finally got around to watching "Kidnapped" and "Studio 60."
I've added both to my MUST WATCH column of my TV list. Of the two, I like "Kidnapped" because it's going to make me think and pay attention. Jeremy Sisto plays Jack Bauer-lite who an ex-FBI agent who's trying to rescue a teenager. Although, it's only the first episode, they left me wanting more.
"Studio 60" is pretty smart but my only complaint is the dialogue moves too fast and I had to rewind to catch several lines.
Tomorrow, "Heroes" debuts and I hope that viewers will embrace it like I did.

I can now stop watching Celebrity Duets.....
because the artist I was waiting on sang first tonight.
Patti LaBelle proves why she's had a long career as she practically blew Jai Rodriguez off the stage. Much like she did with Christina Aguilera and Mya a few years ago when they sang Lady marmalade. Although, I didn't like that little purple number she had on.
Lucy Tuneless must be sleeping with one or all of the judges because she sounded HORRIBLE and they praised her like she had a voice of an angel. Little Richard is hysterical!
Hal Sparks lucked up with Dee Snider from Twisted Sister and gave an OK performance and is YELLING. AT. DAVID. FOSTER. that alone should get him booted this week.
Cheech Marin got Al Jarreau sounded like a dog and a cat got into a fight and neither one won. Little Richard cracks me the heck up.
Alfonzo Ribero got Chaka Khan!!!!! Patti, Chaka on the same show??? I've died and gone to heaven....
And Patti got to sing again but unfortunatley, Wayne Brady sang with her. Give me a break....from heaven to hell in just a few seconds....

America's Next Top Model
My God I LOVE this show!!!! The gang is back! Tyra and her chic/ghetto fabulousness. Miss Jay and her diva/wackiness and Mr. Jay who I know his hair is going to fall out because he bleaches it sooo much.
The new girls are going to be the ultimate drama queens. I was sad that my homegirl from Columbia, S.C. was kicked off the show. I know she was better than that old, ass Melrose girl.
I am sick of all the black women being edited to look like byotches though. I loved Jade last season but sense a bloody bitch battle going to happen between Eugenia/Monique really soon.
I love Anchal the Indian woman and Becky the blond. The twins annoy me because they don't act like individuals. I pray it isn't a battle of the twins at the end.
I think my new favorite phrase this season is going to be "work it out" because Tyra says it all the time!

The Oprah factor
So I've just got finished watching the second day of the Premiere week of Oprah Winfrey's 21st season.
Oprah has in two days took me through a lot of emotions, she made me laugh and then took me to anger. She had me beaming with pride and then had me wondering what the heck was she doing.
The first day was Oprah and Gail's roadtrip across the country. It was hysterical. Oprah has fully embraced the whole celebrity thing to the T. She went to Las Vegas and was treated like a "normal" person who had the troubles of checking and getting lost and stuck in traffic. She snapped at Gail alot because Gail made the unreasonable request of listening to music while driving.
It appears Oprah is a diva in her own mind and she likes things HER way or no way at all.
On the second day, Oprah had me beaming with pride because she questioned former Governor Jim McGreevy about his whole coming out process and she left no stone unturned ranging from how he told his wife, to why did he marry the woman in the first place.
It's moments like this where she shines as a journalist. (Some may argue that she's morphed into television personality status but she DOES display those interviewing/journalism skills when needed.
Deal or No Deal
I admit I am hooked on this show. It's like one of the most simple shows ever, but I so enjoy it. For those who are not familiar, basically you pick a suitcase and pray you have the top amount. Then you pick other suitcases to eliminate other amounts off this board. Then there's the Banker. He tries to buy back your case for a lesser amount to get you out the game.
So far this week, folks have won $675,000 and $701,000. Me, I'm wondering where do I sign up?
The 10 p.m. hour
Is it me, or are there too many good shows on at 10 p.m.??? Tonight, I'm faced with watching "Law & Order:SVU" and "Nip/Tuck". Luckily, I have the power of the DVR but some folks don't so choices will have to be made. I also have to decide which do I watch "live" and what do I watch the next day.
"Nip/Tuck" is so magically delicious, so I'm all about it. SVU might have to wait a day. In fact, now that I think about it, 10 p.m. is going to be busy every night: Mondays : Studio 60, Tuesday SVU and Nip/Tuck, Wednesday Project Runway, Thursday: Six Degrees, Friday, Law & Order, Sunday: Brothers & Sisters. (You'll note, I left Saturday off because Saturdays is now a wasteland. If I were some network, I'd take a risk and put some really good family programming that night, but that's just me.)

The Amazing Race: What a twist!
There's a reason "The Amazing Race" has won so many Emmys. It's just that good.
Sure they've stumbled in the past (Family Edition) anyone and early in its run, it was almost cancelled a few times, but I think it's gotten better.
This season, we have some interesting teams: The Muslims, the models, the Alabama women, the Beauty Queens, the folks from Kentucky, the triathletes, the Cheerleaders, dad and daughter, the gay guys, married couple and the Indian married couple, the Asian brothers.
They all got off to a good start but Phil Keogan dropped a bombshell early. He said that this game would be different and it was.
At the end of the first leg, the Muslim team was eliminated! Everyone was shocked beyond measure, and if this is the way the game is going to go, then we have another exciting season ahead.
My favorites so far appear to be the Indian married couple because they look to be having a good time. I'm liking the cheerleaders too. The dad and daughter couple appear to be interesteing. You can tell he still has issues with her being a lesbian. I'm digging the couple from Kentucky as well. People are going to underestimate them. The women from Alabama are getting on my nerves. They bitch and moan a little too much for me.
I don't like the fighting couple they will be on my nerves really quick. The gay couple appears to be a bit snotty. But we'll see...

So long WB....
This afternoon, the WB will be rerunning some of the shows that put them on the map. I will miss the station because for a while, it was a huge part of my life. "Buffy, ""Felicity," "Angel,""Charmed" and even "Dawson's Creek" were all a part of my regular TV viewing. I stuck with Buffy, Felicty and the women of "Charmed" until the bitter end.
We had some good times. Buffy in particular was MY show. I remember watching it from the first episode and only missed ONE episode in the entire run. I always wished I could be part of the Scoobies but then realized I was by being a loyal viewer.
Felicity captured my attention because of the whole exploring college and finding yourself. While the last season was not so good, the first three years rocked.
Charmed was great in the beginning, then jumped the shark when Shannen was fired. It then picked up steam and really lost it. Last season, should have been the LAST season.
Angel held my interest but I came and went with that show. When it was good, it was awesome. Dawson was my secret TV boyfriend for a while but then when they moved to college, I left them alone. And the last episode was a huge disappointment.
With that, let's hope the CW can build shows that have such fond memories like these.

Celebrity Duets: It's like crack....
I'm beginning to think that twice a week isn't enough. I need my fix and luckily, it's on.
The big mystery? Where did Little Richard go? To the psycho ward? To rehab? To an assistance center? I dunno.
Tonight's show was bad, bad, bad. I don't know where to begin, OH, let's just start with Wayne Brady's Green plaid vest, purple shirt or black pants. It's like color has exploded. Plus, he didn't have the body to pull off the vest. I'm no size two, but still, I know not to squuuueezzeeee myself into something that's inappropriate.
The group singing needs to stop. It was awkward and just awful. Plus they need to choose song that some people's voices can actually handle.
If this gets a second season, I'd like for them to actually have people who can really sing or at least carry a tune. My partner keeps pointing out that Jai sounds like a "background" singer and not a real singer. But, I gotta say, it takes a LOT of guts to put yourself out there for the world to see.
Jesse McCartney hasn't had a hit in like, what, three years? But he still got people screaming for him. And did you see the girls bum rushing the stage??? It was nice of Wayne to plug Jesse's album as well.
Alfonso and Denice sang well but I couldn't concentrate because of the unfortunate gold number that Denice was wearing. It looked like she was headed toward Studio 54 and got lost. But it was upercute that Alfonso and Denise color coordinated though. Wayne also reminded everyone that the Carlton Dance would be done if Alfonso made it. That alone makes me want to pick up my phone to see him do it.
Dionne Warwick, pulled out one of her old outfits from her days as host of "Solid Gold." and she and Lucy Tuneless also color coordinated. Lucy looks flawless but the voice is flawFUL. And Lucy, please, please, find a song you CAN sing! Wayne says they got a standing ovation, but I swear I only saw five people stand up.
Poor Hal Sparks got stuck with "Mr. Roboto" which I was glad to hear because I think I was like in eighth grade last time I heard this song. And get this, Hal was singing the robotic part at first, I was thinking it wasn't fair, but luckily, he came out to sing some. He's still YELLING AT ME!! Stop. YELLING! HAL!
OH, and I see they used some of the budget to get the stage to move. Marie looks like she smelled something at the end of Hal's performance.
Hal Sparks was in the bottom three!! The voting is rigged. There is NO way that Lucy Tuneless got the most votes out of everyone! Unless they have one heckuva sound system on the East Coast.
Carly announced that she's going to be seeking a musical career. Let's hope tonight's performance when she sees it will dissuade her of that.
BTW: America agreed because she got her booty bounced!

Dateline, Primetime and those other news shows...
I have a confession. I'm addicted to the "news" shows.
Last night, I ate up the latest "Dateline's: To Catch a Predator." While these shows claim they are doing a public service, let's not be fooled. It's ALL about the ratings.
I don't know what amazes me more: That these sick men keep showing up to molest children, or that reporter Chris Hanson hasn't been shot yet. I keep waiting for some guy to pull out a guy and blow him away.
NBC keeps churning out these shows as a "public service" but notice they NEVER come out during non sweeps months or months were they need a boost. At first, the shows were informative, but now they keep milking them for everything they are worth. It's shocking to see what type of men show up, some of these men look like everyday ordinary people and it's scary to see that they show up to molest these kids.
Tonight, I'm watching "Primetime" and they are "exposing" that girls can be mean. Wow. Sho-cking. Girls can be mean? Duh.
It's also kinda sad that this is so important that this takes up a whole hour.

Celebrity Duets: Or when bad actors sing....
This week, we're scraping the bottom of the pop barrel so far.
Lucy Lawless was paired up with Dionne Warwick. They both sounded dreadful. Like two cats were scratching their vocal chords trying to claw their way free.
Alfonso Ribeiro was paired up with Denice Williams and both sounded great! Carley Patterson sang with one-hit wonder Jesse McCartney and both managed to warble out the song. Hal Sparks seemed to enjoy his tune with a singer from Styx.
Cheech Marin, if there's a God, the public will finally vote you out tomorrow. He sang "Ain't No Sunshine" with Aaron Neville. Aaron Neville was squeezed so tightly into the ugliest suit ever. It's amazing his voice could come out. I'm an Aaron Neville fan, so I'll pretend this performance didn't exist. Maybe AT&T will disable his line so he can finally get out of his competition.
Jai Rodriguez sings with Taylor Dane and it sounds like bad karoke. Jai hits more than a few bad notes, and Taylor sounds bad, bad, bad. What's scary, some of these "professional" singers are actually on tour at casinos and stuff, so at least this show will save you the $40 you might pay for their shows.
Marie Osmond decided to take her "I'm a bitch pills" today because she raked everyone over the coals. Marie, honey, you haven't had a hit this century so you really, really might need to be a little more constructive and a little less um, bitchy.
Poor Little Richard is crying out for help but no one is listening. The man is senile. Or drugged so heavily, he thinks he's reliving his glory days. David Foster looks bored. And if he's not bored, he's sneaking into Marie's "I'm a bitch pills."
Wayne Brady needs to be fired pronto. He's a clown and adds nothing to this show. But the real entertainment are the F-list celebrities they are totally paying to be seen in the audience. This week we were treated to Kristy Swanson and John Walsh who's so totally NOT America's Most Wanted. Nope, I lied. When Marie Osmond and Wayne Brady was singing. David Foster was directing the crowd and Little Richard looked dazed and confused. And his bad wig needed help.
Can someone adjust Richard's medicine? Please? Please? I predict this is Carley or Cheech's last night.
