Falling into fall

In case you missed it, the Fall 2009 season officially kicked off on the CW with "90210" and its sister in remakeland "Melrose Place."

And while the CW has spent millions trying to get people to watch, I'm betting "Melrose Place" won't be long for this world.

You can go to the nostalgia well once and get away with it but twice?

Seriously CW?

Besides the fans have already proven they xoxo "Gossip Girl" but time and the ratings will tell if they feel the same about "Melrose Place."

I hoped you liked what I have to say, because that's all the ink I'm giving it, because while I like trash like with the best of them, this is too low even for me.

Instead, let me point you to a really GREAT show. In fact it fills me with glee to recommend it.

If you're looking for a smart and funny new show, then "Glee" on Fox is it. The show is about a glee club in Lima, Ohio, and their struggle to be accepted among the student body. They've got big dreams and they that fame costs, and they're ready to start paying with sweat, song and comedy.

And while you may think you've been there and done that with the "High School Musical" franchise, let me tell you the kids on "Glee" will make those kids blush with some of the antics they pull. Still, it's a show I can recommend to the over 13-year-old set.

Younger kids might like the music, but trust me when I say this is a show for mature audiences only.

Last week, the first episode re aired complete with a Tweetpeet (where the cast sent Tweets during the episode) and a director's cut with extra scenes. If you thought that was funny, then I can proudly tell you (jazz hands and all) that this episode knocks it out of the park.

The season premiere picks up with the Spanish Teacher Will Schuester fighting to motivate the kids and keep the spirit of the glee club alive. And while I won't spoil much else than that, let me say that at the screening of this episode at Comic-Con folks were laughing hysterically, crying and even gasping as surprises kept coming fast and furious.

The show hits the right notes of drama, comedy, sadness and even some intrigue. In other words, life.

The show is from Ryan Murphy who created "nip/tuck" and if that show is any indication of what's to come on "Glee" then fasten your seat belts because it's going to be a bumpy and enjoyable ride.

Hello TV watchers. I'm baacck!
You'll notice that the Remote has been on mute for most of the summer because there's really been NOTHING ON TV. We had our bright spots and some not so bright spots. But over all it's been pretty bland.

That's NOT the case this fall. I think we might have a case of system overload as shows fight to compete for your time and attention. I think the biggest story of the fall is NBC's decision to scuttle the 10 p.m. hour of dramas and add "The Jay Leno" Show."

I'll be honest, Jay Leno isn't to my taste. I love his "Headlines" feature but that's about it. I'm going to tune in the first week when he has some pretty big guest stars like Rihanna (making her first appearance on TV since the attack from Chris Brown in February) and Kanye West.

My poor DVR is going to explode because some of my favorites are now facing off. Monday nights looks pretty weak to me, so I'll probably stick with "Heroes" since it's now on at 8 p.m. and then I'm done for the night.

Wednesday is going to be busy because I have "America's Next Top Model" and "Mercy" facing off. I love Tyra so I'm going to stick with a sista because, she's just too damn funny. "Mercy" looks like it's going to be the "anti-ER" so I want to check that out.

I've fallen hard for "Glee" and I just learned yesterday that "Law & Order SVU" is going up against it. I'm going to watch "Glee" and probably DVR "L&O: SVU" and watch it at 10. Lord knows what's going to happen when "Lost" returns for the final season in January, but I'll figure that out then.

Thursday has "Flash Forward" facing off against "Survivor" so I'll be watching "Survivor" live and DVR'ing "Flash Forward." On cable there's "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" and "Project Runway" but since cable repeats things umteen times, I'll just DVR both of them can catch them later or wait for the repeats.

Fridays, I'm going to jump on the "Smallville" train since I heard it was actually pretty descent this last season. Then "Ugly Betty" at 9 p.m. and "Southland" might be my Friday night at 10 p.m. show.

Saturday air a repeat of "Trauma" so I'll probably wait and watch it then.
Sunday is all about "The Amazing Race" and "Desperate Housewives" but I am curious about "Three Rivers" and "The Cleveland Show" but I'm still on the fence.

Over the next few weeks, I'll be blogging about the shows, the good, the bad and the soon to be cancelled. Until then, stay tuned....

"Project Runway" : All Stars

Tonight, the show I and many viewers thought they might never see again returned. "Project Runway" after almost a year long delay returned on a different night and a different station.

To whet our appetite, Lifetime showed us "All Stars" where the "best" of the past few seasons competed. We had Daniel, Mychael, Chris, Uli, Sweet P, Korto and Santino.

They had to create a mini collection and the looks ranged from the chic to the WTF?
Sadly , the WTF look is what Nina, Heidi and Michael wanted because Daniel won. =-( Korto, who was great came in second AGAIN and I wish someone would finally recognize her talent.

Is fat the new gay?

Is it me, or are has Hollywood finally discovered that not everyone is meant to be a size 2?
We've had shows like "The Biggest Loser" on TV for a while, but this summer brings us two more entries in the big and beautiful category.

"Dance Your Ass Off" highlights big people dancing in a ballroom dance contest. Think "Dancing With the Stars" with unknowns and plus sized people.

"More to Love" is basically "The Bachelor" with overweight people.
The problem with this is this, Hollywood goes in cycles. A few years ago, gays were all the rage as shows like "Queer as Folk" and "Queer Eye" and then people got bored and we moved on.

Now, we seem to be embracing fat people as entertainment. And that, I think is wrong.

If the shows are trying to teach us that "Hey, fat people are people too" then they are going about it the wrong way.
You can totally hear the pitches for these shows "Hey! Let's do 'The Bachelor' with fat people!" or "Hey, let's do DWTS with fat people."

I'd be curious to see if America is embracing these shows or if they are bored. The next few weeks will tell.

"16 and Pregnant" the finale

For the past five weeks, I've had a date with MTV. I haven't watched MTV in a long time (you know, back when they actually played VIDEOS) but I digress. Then I stumbled on this show "16 and pregnant" and I haven't been able to turn away since!

I feel guilty because this are real life situation, but it's like crack. I can't take just one hit. Over the past few weeks we've watched the destruction of Maci and Ryan's relationship. We've watched Farrah duke it out with her mom. We've watched Amber and her older boyfriend Gary mature into loving parents. We watched Ebony's dreams about joining the Air Force come crashing down, only to watch her boyfriend (now husband) get to live his dream of entering the Air Force while she has to stay home with the baby.

And last week, we met Whitney, who is 16 but seemed like 12. I think her episode was the most tragic of all with her, her boyfriend Weston, her mom (who was pregnant too) and her mom's boyfriend all living in her Grandma's (affectionally called Meemaw) all living into a double wide. (cue music from "Deliverance" now).

While clearly MTV ripped of "Juno" I think they ARE doing a service to their audience. Pregnancy isn't cute. It isn't Hollywood and babies aren't magically quiet all the time. They need care. They need love. They need ADULTS to take care of them.

Tonight's episode had Catelynn and Tyler trying to do the adult thing by giving the baby up for adoption. However, their parents want the teens to KEEP the baby. C and T's situation is more complex because both of their parents have had hard times. Tyler's dad has been in jail and Catelynn's mom flakes (I'm betting it's meth) and so they are grappling with what to do. That being said, catch this on the reruns because it's worth it.

I'm hoping that some teens will think twice before having unsafe sex.

There have been very few times that I've been speechless, the death of Michael Jackson leaves me with no words. I'm in shock and very saddened by his sudden passing. I'm betting most of you learned about the death of MJ from the Internet while a good portion learned via TV.

I was watching CNN and they were airing stories about this 70s icon death.. And then, it happened. Wolf Blitzer was told that MJ was rushed to the hospital and then suddenly Farrah's story became yesterday's news and MJ was front and center. MJ died around 12:30 PDT, it became a nonstop Michael Jackson fest on many of the major channels.

Videos for songs such as "Liberian Girl" and "Earth Song" were rediscovered by me. And even t hough the news stations have played "Thriller" into the ground I still stop and watch.

CNN has been covering the story nonstop while MTV wisely turned their programming over to MJ videos. While I'm sad, I think it's great that a new generation gets to rediscover the music. LA Reid said on the "Today" show on Friday that "It's time people turned up the music and turned down the chatter" and I think that quote summed up everything I was feeling.

I love Michael Jackson's music. I can listen to "Thriller" all day and not get tired of it. And while his life took some strange and dark turns, the music is still what matters.

I hope that when people look back, that's what they'll remember: music and maybe dancing.

"16 and Pregnant:" Farrah's story

It's official. I'm addicted to this show. It's a sad situation, young girls getting pregnant and not knowing what to do. I'm a little skeeved out about watching these girls have their lives taped and I wonder what benefit they are getting from allowing this to happen. Is it they don't want others to wind up pregnant? Or is it their 15 of fame? I dunno, but whatever it is, it keeps me watching.

This week, we meet Farrah who's pregnant by a guy she describes as "jealous and immature," and yet he's the babydaddy?? These girls are choosing real gems for daddies as witnessed by Maci and Ryan from last week's episode.

What I find fascinating, is that the baby's daddy only has is voice heard and never appears in the episode. I'm sure if you knew Farrah, you knew who it was but I wonder what he's doing now? I'm sure he probably was sitting at home when this episode aired tonight and his phone was probably blowing up from people calling him. Like him or not, he contributed half of the DNA and has some rights to the baby. Let's pray he doesn't use Sophia as a pawn to get Farrah back.

What's shocking about these girls too is that how shocked THEY are by others' reaction about their situation. Farrah was ticked that people were talking about her being pregnant. Like DUH!!! These are high school kids. Of COURSE they are going to talk about how this popular girl got pregnant.

Farrah also had a hard time at home too. Her Dad seems cool but it's her control freak mom that's an issue. It's clear that Farrah was looking for love and wound up getting pregnant but her mom and her icy glance of death probably didn't help matters any. She tried to control Farrah and look what happened.

The only humanity she showed was when she stayed with Farrah during Sophia's birth. Otherwise, she was a ice queen throughout the whole episode.

I'm hoping that Farrah can get a job and get the heck away from this woman otherwise, she might wind up like the grandmother from this book.

"16 and pregnant" the premiere

Confession: I used to be addicted to MTV. When the station first debuted, it was tons of music videos and VJs and fun. Now, until recently, I can't remember the last time I watched MTV. That may change because MTV actually has a GOOD reality show on called "16 and Pregnant." Unlike the sporadically airing "True Life" this show takes one subject and follows it: Teen pregnancy.

The show traces the last few months of the teen's pregnancy and how it affects her and her family. And then they follow the teen after the baby is here and shows how hard it is to be a parent.

The premiere episode featured 16-year-old Maci and her fiance Ryan ( who may be in the 19-21 year age range). At first, it's all smiles and giggles as the two set up a household for themselves and the baby but then as the due date draws closer, things change and it's not for the better.

Folks, Ryan is a douche. I hate to use that language but that's just the truth. He basically leaves all the caregiving to Maci and goes out to work, to workout and to hang out with his friends. Meanwhile, Laci and the baby sit at home or they are at her mom's house.

Maci will ask Ryan to change diapers or hold the baby and it's like THE. WORST. THING. EVER. for Ryan because he can't be bothered. Yet, he runs out and gets a HUGE tattoo of the baby's name Bentley Cadence on his body. I think Ryan likes the idea of being a dad but doesn't want to do the work that comes with it.

Maci, however, seemed to be going places. She was a cheerleader and was headed off to college and then she got pregnant. Now it's too late to do anything, but she seems to be embracing the mom role as she gets the baby ready and manages to go to school at the same time. However, I thought when she joined the dance team, that was a bit much because that was time she could have spent with the baby or working so that they wouldn't have to struggle financially.

The most telling scene of the episode was after a fight Ryan says to Maci "If it weren't for the baby, I wouldn't be here." The episode ends with her telling the audience that they were trying to work things out. Personally, I understand why she would because she wants the baby to have a father, but does it have to come at the expense of YOUR self esteem? I think that's too high of a price to pay.

The one thing that wasn't addressed is how she got pregnant. (I know the birds and the bees people so don't go there). Did birth control fail? Was this something they talked about and she went for it? Was it her not knowing she could get pregnant? I think that needs to be clearly stated. What's good about this show is that it gives an unflinching look at what it means to be a teen parent. I'm a 40-year-old man, and I can barely take care of myself. So taking care of a baby is out of the question for me, but I was amazed at how Maci managed to keep it together. However, I know I and practically every mom out there who watched was a little annoyed at how they let the baby cry for no good reason on occasion. I'm not a parent but it was horrible to hear Bentley sit there and cry and cry.

We also learned that daycare in Tennessee costs $650 a MONTH at the school that Maci attends. That's a LOT Of money and I'm glad they showed the financial aspect of why it costs so much to have a baby.

The show airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. and since there's NOTHING else on, you should give it a try. And I hope that this will make kids think twice before running out and having a baby.

Her life on the "D list"...

Some people love her, others hate her but one thing Kathy Griffin can do, is get people to talking. This season, Kathy is already off on a roll as the premiere episode features the one and only Bette Midler. However, the show seemed to be an hour long promo for Bette's show in Vegas.. BTW, the chorographer is the woman who sings this song and another gay icon.

The show kicked off with Kathy's quest for winning a Grammy. (She didn't win although the album For Your Consideration is hysterical).

And I guess as a crossover artist she's now got her sights set on a book due out Sept. 29.

We learn in the first few minutes that fan favorite Jessica her personal assistant quit and that Kathy will be spending this season trying to get A-list tips from A-listers.

She landed a gig with Bette Midler and Bette folks was very prudish and cold. I'm betting that Bette will watch and be shocked at how cold she looked. The cool thing about the show is that Bette apparently has Stevie Nicks on speed dial and as a gay guy, I squealed like a girl when I saw Kathy, Bette and heard Stevie on the phone. Heck if we had Cher, Whitney and Janet I think I would have died instantly.

But there were two moments that were the best of the show. a) Bette went with Kathy to the Fremont Street area to eat a fried Oreo and b) Bette and Kathy sang to a drunk 21-year old. However, a crack-ish looking woman kept mugging in front of the cameras! Hysterical!

Next week Lily Tomlin will give Kathy some advice and I'll be tuning in.....

Last week, I wrote about how I hate Spedi. I don't know if you've seen the drama.

So tonight I had to watch. It's 8:27 and Heidi is talking about being a missionary and started talking more and more about God and Jesus and it got old really quick. It also makes me think they are faking this new love for Jesus. Then Heidi started feeling ill and Spencer actually prayed over Heidi. It was hysterical! Along the way, Frances quit after Angela was booted. (How long did she last, one day?)

Are they crazy? Coco for Coco-Puffs? I dunno, but then we saw Spencer on a block hollaring for Jesus! And with that, I'm done.

Someone let me know how this ends....

"I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!"

I hate summer. Why? Because for a couch potato, there's NOTHING on to watch. For the past few weeks, NBC has been hyping, "I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!" and so tonight I bit.

OMG: Heidi and Spencer kills me. They are awful. They whined and complained from the moment go. She whined about bug bites and lack of hair products. And of course not being able to have sex with Spencer.

And Sanjaya is so adorable but I don't expect for him to be long for this game. Patti Blagojevich and Frangela are so random.

Now will I watch for the next three weeks? Not really but I gave it a shot...

The end of "ER"

Before I launch into my ode to "ER" let me say, I'm sorry to be away for so long. It's been a hectic few months and to be honest, there's not been a lot to blog on. No show this fall has been hitting it out of the park for me. Very few shows have been MUST see TV and to be honest I've cut back on TV viewing.

That being said, let me write about a show that used to be appointment TV for me: "ER."

I remember when I worked in Colorado Springs waaaay back in 1994, some co-workers and I worked nights but would sneak to look at the TV when we had a chance to watch the show. It was always on my VCR when I got home and I would watch at 1 a.m. when I left my job. The show was nothing like I had ever seen before.

The heart of the show was Dr. Mark Greene (Anthony Edwards) who was head of the ER. With him was good looking Romeo Dr. Ross (George Clooney) and his long suffering girlfriend Carol Hathaway (Juliana Margulies). Mark had a unrequired love with Dr. Susan Lewis (Sherry Stringfield). Young Dr. Carter (Noah Wyle) was the innocence of the viewers as we grew with him to watch the goings-on of the ER. Dr. Benton was the resident jerk (Eriq LaSalle) but had a heart of gold.

Over the years, a lot of our beloved castmembers left the show only to be replaced with new blood. And while some people hung on to the bitter end, I left the show about five years ago. When I heard this was the last season, I tried to watch but other things kept getting in the way.

But there was NO way I was going to miss the finale. And I'm so glad I didn't. The show was pitch perfect and reminded me of classic "ER." I'm so glad we caught up with some of our old favorites (kinda like a class reunion) and the last scene had me crying.

I never knew how much this show meant to me, and now that it's gone, I feel empty.

The highlights of the finale: A teen with alcohol poisoning rattles the ER.
Lydia (who I understand hasn't been on this show in a good five years) wakes the current ER chief the same way she did in the pilot.

Susan, Carter, Benton, Kerry Weaver and Elizabeth all return for the opening of Carter's new hospital. The biggest surprise was the return of Rachel Greene who now is a doctor herself.

The final scene had the ER dealing with patients from a massive explosion and everyone scurrying around. Carter looks at Rachel and asks "You coming Dr. Green?" which is what Dr. Green said in the pilot to Dr. Carter and it was there our "ER" journey began.

So long "ER" I will miss you.

"The Amazing Race!" and "Survivor"

I love February because it means the return of two of my favorite shows, "Survivor" and "The Amazing Race." By the looks at the premieres for both, it's shaping up to be an interesting season.

"Survivor" is in Brazil and it looks like it's going to be hot and very combative. Already, I don't like Coach and on "The Amazing Race" they have people who are yelling at each other. Steve and Linda I'm guessing won't last long.

We'll see what the rest of the season holds.

This season started out really good but it's been really difficult to watch at times because of the lies and excuses people use. It seems like the people who really, really need to be there are being eliminated. This time it was Carla and Joelle. I think had Carla chosen a different partner, she might have won the whole thing. I hope she takes what she learns and loses the weight needed.

First, because of DVR issues and human error I couldn't blog the previous two hours of the show so I apologize. Since the show is moving forward so am I. The gist of the last two hours: Tony's undercover working with Bill and Chloe (yay!) to track down someone in the new administration that's a spy. The first husband finds proof the that the first son was killed given to him by the girlfriend. NotMichelle tortured a suspect to get info and NotChloe aided and abetted it.

In this hour, Tony, Jack and some other sketchy characters gather to force the prime minister out of a safe room that he and his wife fled to when Tony and crew attack. Their lone security guy appears to be getting ready to be killed but then he gets a call from the FBI and they know the FBI is en route.

At first, hope appears to be lost but Jack figures out a way to force them out: ammonia! He concocts a solution to force them out.

Meanwhile Renee aka NotMichelle is having a battle with Larry aka NotBill. He orders her to come back in and she wants to make thing right by capturing Jack and crew.

Meanwhile the first husband is hot on the trail of information about the death of his son and he's confiding his thoughts to special secret service guy.

Back at gas central, the prime minister is ready to die but his wife (the always excellent Tonya Pinkins decides otherwise and she wants some fresh air quickly! She opens the safety door and Jack and crew seize them.

NotMichelle is outside and is quickly captured. The leaders of the plot to stop America from invading Sangala decide that she's unimportant and orders her to be killed.

Along the way, NotMichelle hurls insults at Jack and he takes them. When they arrive at the construction yard, Jack shoots her in the neck (it looks like they have a plan to keep her alive) and then they are ordered to bury her. Jack covers her with plastic and then she gets the silent clock treatment, or does she. If you listen carefully, you can still hear her breathing....

Wow....

With the exceptions of a few hours where I was working, I've been watching the Inauguration nonstop. My god, my god, I NEVER thought I'd see this day. I'm so grateful I'm alive to see an African-American man and woman as president and first lady.

To say the media has gone nuts over this event is an understatement. The coverage began on Sunday afternoon and it's gone nonstop. Throw MLK day in the middle and you've one of the best weeks ever.

For me, the most exciting moments are watching his young daughters Sasha and Malia who seem to be eating every second up of this. I know every little girl thinks their dad is cool but this, this must be sending them over the moon.

The best quote I heard all day: "We just want to be here to feel it. It just magic, it's magic.." said one white woman covered in Obama attire...

Tomorrow, the real work begins, but for today, hope is alive....

It's Inauguration Week...

It's time for me to come out the closet. I'm a Barack Obama supporter. While this blog is normally about the lighter side of TV, I'm caught up with all of the Inauguration coverage.

What's so wonderful is the diversity of coverage. I'm so glad that journalists are recognizing that he's the people's president and not just the BLACK people's president. I love the fact they while they are focusing on African-Americans and asking what this moment means to them. But they are also asking ALL people what this means.

It's a scary time to be an American. Foreclosure. Layoff. Staycation. Bank failures. Pension funds. Crash. These words are sadly heard daily and I have a feeling it's going to get worse but at least there's hope on the horizon.

I wouldn't want to be Barack Obama for all the money in the world because we're in bad times. But if we're in awful times, there's no other person I'd rather have leading us right now.

"24" 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

We start out with a bang and I mean literally.

An annoying teen is texting on a cell phone in Washington, D.C., and is being admonished by her dad who's driving her to I guess school.

Then BAM! he's hit by three cars. He's taken from the car by masked men firing guns (one is Tony Alameida, I'd recognize THAT voice anywhere). And the daughter is left screaming in the back seat. I'm amazed neither was hurt because it looks as if the girl got head side-on.

Two minutes, in, we see Jack Bauer, it's 8:02. Jack is testifying in front of a Senate committee and is all bad-ass. He's being asked about torture and prisoners. Jack sees through the B.S. and calls the lead Senator out. Jack says he did what he needed to do and the Senator can just suck it. Jack tells the Senator that he will complete his mission at all costs. Case closed. I heart Jack.

Then the lead Senator gets a whisper in the ear and some chick comes in and asks to take Jack immediately. He's handed a file and then Jack and this woman goes off to begin their day. It's only 8:06. The Senator says they're not done and they'll convene tomorrow at the same time (Meaning, last episode, we'll see jack back in the chair and that's how the day will end.)

The woman ID's herself as Special AGent Walker. Janeane Garofolo is talking to Agent Walker and then Janeane doing her best Chloe impression barks orders at a guy name Sean. (ooh, is this the CTU 2.0?)

A briefing is held in what appears to be held at NOT CTU and they already know about the abduction. The kidnapped guy is ID as a guy named Latham and apparently he can build something that's pretty bad.

Latham is fixing something that appears to be dealing with airplanes. He's been beaten pretty badly and he's in a room with a bunch of guys. We then flash to an airplane and some pilots appear to get bad information.

We find that Not CTU is actually the FBI and it's the field office. It's 8:11.

Agent Walker (first name Renee) is alone with Jack in a room. NotChloe walks up and kisses up the the lead agent at Not CTU about what's going on. They want Jack to help track down the guy behind the threat. It's TONY! And he's alive! And Tony's bad... bad to the bone.

She shows Tony's photo to Jack and Jack is in shock. He claims Tony is dead and they reveal the loophole about how Tony was rushed away and she tells him that Tony wasn't dead, his body was exhumed and it wasn't him in the grave. So this makes what, SIX times, Tony has cheated death? Does this mean Michelle might be alive too????

In the room full of guys, Tony steps out of the shadows looking fantastic. AT the airport, the plane takes off and Tony and his guys are shocked that the device that Lathan "fixed" doesn't appear to have worked. Tony asked him what he did and Lathan is shocked and bloodied.

Tony tells him to fix it now or else he's going to rub him out. It's 8:16 and we're off to commericial break!

At 8:21, at the White House, president Allison Taylor is watching the devastation of Sengala and the man behind it General Juma. (For more details see: "24: Redemption".)

President Taylor and one of her advisors talk and she reveals that the First Husband is sad because they lost their son. (What happened to him?? What he killed because of the sheningans of his pill-popping friend?)

President Taylor talks to the Joint Chiefs and says she's ready to take the country to war. At the dark dungeon, Tony watches Latham fix the device and is suspicious. The device appears to work now and the device looks at the planes across the country. At the Air Traffic Control, a black guy who looks is the brother of Vanessa Williams.

At Not CTU, they hear about the power surge they had and the plane that we saw taking off hits some bad air. (Anyone else thinks it's going to crash).

Jack and an analyist name Sean work together to see which flights took off. At the Joint Chiefs, President Taylor is meeting some static. She's taken out of the meeting to be told that all airflights are in danger. Homeland Security asks her if they can quietly decrease traffic while they investigate some leads, and it's 8:33 a.m. Who knew there were 3,000 flights in the air at 8:30 a.m.???

So let's recap: Tony appears to be eeevil. There's unrest in Africa. And terrorism in the air. We together? Good.

It's 8:39 and we see two men talking about the problems in Sengala. They are questioning her action. We discover, one is a reporter and the other appears to be the First Husband. Who knew the White House Press Corps had one on ones with White House leaders.

The First Husband is having his son's death investigated and it looks as if the girlfriend had money deposited in her account and that the first son had committed "suicide." We discover that the girlfriend works at a brokerage firm and his Secret Service Agent assigned to the FH says he thinks he's being taken advantage of. (My guess, FH will be captured or killed oh in say hour 10 but we'll see how it all shakes out...)

NotChloe is talking to Renee aka NotMichelle about the problem with the planes. NotMichelle is telling her to get a grip.

Sean and Jack find a break in the case and see that there's a guy who can forge documents needed to get tech. Jack tells NotCTU that they need to bust in and get the guy. Jack's past thrown in his face and tells the rookies that it's not his job anymore. NotMichelle takes the lead guy aka NotBill and tells him she's taking Jack with her. It's now 8:45.

at 8:49, Jack and NotMichelle had toward the bad guy's office. Jack gives San Diego a quick shoutout and we learn the background about the badguy. Apparently they got info from a guy that he and Tony delt with back in 1999. NotMichelle says that Tony's dirty and Jack says he believes that Tony is alive and that he's doing something dangerous and they need to find him. Various NotCTU agents arrive and NotMichelle and Jack heads in.

At the White House, aka, office of hope, President Taylor is getting information about the invasion of Sengala and then apologizes to the Secretary of State. (She dressed him down in front of the joint chiefs earlier).

Jack and NotMichelle arrives and Jack warns her and NotMichelle gives Jack orders (I'm laughing hysterically at this point) and Jack and NotMichelle asks to speak to the bad guy.

NotMichelle says that she's responsible for Jack and we see that the bad guy has some scarring on his face almost Joker like. He taunts Jack and about CTU being dismantled. The bad guy pretends not to know that Tony is alive. He has a fake Irish accent and NotMichelle flexes her muscle (BWAAAAHHHHH!!!) and falls flat on her face.

The bouncer gets his ass handed to him by NotMichelle and then Jack threatens him with a guy. NotMichelle tells Jack to do "Whatever it takes" and Jack threats to take his eye out with a pen!! The guy is then gunned down by a sniper and the bouncer is killed too. Jack gets a phone call and it's Tony!! He knows Jack is there and we are left hanging for hour 1!

And then uh-oh! The flight that we saw earlier gets bum information and we see Vanessa's brother and he's lost contact with the plane! We see Tony giving them bad information and OMG... it's 8:58!!! WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THIS PLANE????

Thankfully we only have a few moments to wait for hour 2!

At 9:02, we get a "Previously on 24" but who in the world would have forgotten what happened in two minutes??? We do learn the name of the FH and it's Henry. We learn that Roger Taylor
may have committed suicide but we just don't know what is going on.

It's now 9 a.m. and the plane is still up in the air and headed toward JFK. The FAA is trying to contact the plane. They hear Tony's voice and we learn that the FAA just figured out that they're being impersonated.

The pilot of the plane is suscipious and is worried. At the bad guy's place NotMichelle and Jack are looking for the shooter of the bad guy. NotMichelle tells NotBill that they have the guy surrounded. Jack points out that there's a leak in NotCTU and asks her how they knew he was there. It sets up that there's a bad agent. NotMichelle won't listen. Jack's been asked to surrender his gun and he;s being put in a vehicle, like a sitting duck. It's taking SWAT a long time to arrive. Meanwhile the shooter is stuck in the building trying to figure out a way out. The NOTCTU agents are in the lobby chilling. NotChloe is concerned about NotMichelle and NotBill tells NotChloe she's OK.

At the FAA, they are trying to figure out how to contact the plane. At FAA, they find their screens are locked. (Hopefully this won't happen in real life).

We then discover that two planes are now on a collision course. Tony calls the FAA and tells them two planes are on a collision course!!! Tony tells the plane to pull up and they barely miss each other. (The special effects look really cool ....) Thankfully, Tony isn't bad just yet.

Tony calls back to tell them that was a warning shot....It's 9:10 on the show.. but my DVR is saying 9:12? Hmm....

It's 9:16 and Jack looks sad in the car and the sniper is looking for a way out.

Meanwhile in a ship yard three dudes get out of a dark car wearing dark suits. They contact Tony's crew and we discover that they his hideout is in a boat!

Tony slams Latham into a gate and tells his henchmen to clean him up. At 9:18, we see the dark suited dudes and they talk to Tony. Tony is prepared to give them the module and Tony and the dark-suited dude talk about Jack.

Tony says he'll take care of Jack and dark suited dude tells Tony that he's being kept in the dark about their mission for a reason. (Is Tony undercover???)

Back at the Office of Hope, the press secretary is going to meet the press. The Office of Hope adviser gives the PS some info and she answers questions.

Elswhere at the Office of Hope, President Taylor meets with the Sengala Prime Minister (Why do all people from Africa in Hollywood have thick accents?) and she tells him that they need to get rid of Juma. They shake on it (NOOO, remember the last time the president shook on something.)

In the van of solace, Jack is congratulate by a not CTU agent and Jack pontificates on torture. Inside, a NOTCTU agent is being set up to be killed. The sniper had called Tony earlier but the agent apparently is working with Tony. He gets the guy out the building. Jack gets out of the car and spots the shooter because he doesn't have the same shoes that everyone else has.

Jack spots the guy leaving and suggests he and NotMichelle follow the guy. NotMichelle and Jack follow the guy and it's 9:28.

At 9:34, NotCNN reports about the near miss of the two planes. Latham is taken to a new hideout and Juma's first agent is ready to talk to President Taylor. and he has the device. At the Office of Hope, we learn that we are screwed. That the infrastructure of the U.S. would be hosed if they shut things down.

The presidental adviser is told that the FH is on his way to confront the girlfriend. The agent spills the beans and says he's worried about the FH state of mind.

The president talks about raising the alert level. (Does anyone pay attention to this?)

NotChloe tells NotBill that NotMichelle is gone with Jack. It's 9:39 and the sniper realizes that he's being tailed. NotBill is told by NotMichelle that she's following a lead.

NotMichelle feels bad that she lied and Jack tells her to stay with the program. NotBill asks NotChloe to do a Chloe task. NotBill wants to know where NotMichelle is and Jack and NotMichelle are hot on the tail of the sniper.

NotMichelle asks Jack how far would he have gone and NotMichelle is shocked at Jack's methods. Jack tells NotMichelle to shut up and leave him alone to work. If not, he's done.

It's 9:42. Oddly enough, this hour is moving really slowly....

It's 9:48 and the first husband and his Man Friday go to the office of where the former first girlfriend works. The Ex-First Girlfriend is shocked to see and agent there and is escorted to the roof of a building. It's 9:49. He asks to speak to the former first girlfriend and she pretends that it's been difficult for her to go on.

He confronts her with the facts. The first girlfriend lies and says the money is her aunt's money and she says that she moved the money to protect her aunt. She claims she's telling the truth and the FH grabs her. He says he's going to find out and gives her the old "God help you!!" line.

At Tony's hideout, the sniper is headed in his direction and he arrives at the shipyard. Jack and NotMichelle arrive and they get out. Jack sees the car par and NotMichelle gives Jack a gun. She tells Jack to engage and that she'll back him up. The sniper gets suspicious and is nervous. Jack beats the sniper and Jack knocks the guy out.

Jack and NotMichelle sees cameras and Jack prepares to take the camera out. Tony sees the camera go out and sends a man to go check it out. Jack and the sniper head on the boat and the sniper is sot. Jack shoots a bunch of people and then goes onto the boat.

NotMichelle see a computer and is too late to stop the files from being deleted. Jack is jumped by Tony and chases him. Jack tells Tony to stop and then fights with Tony. (I'm laughing at the bad stuntmen...).

NotBill arrives on the scene (hmm) and they have Tony in custody. Tony gives Jack a snarl through his bloody nose.

And it's 9:59!!! We have NO answers and we have to watch tomorrow!!! But so far, not bad...

Oprah wants you to live your best life...

Earlier this week, I blogged about Oprah and her weight gain. Today's show was about money and my girl Suze Ormand who offered these sobering facts.

* In this economic climate you should have eight months of money in reserve.
* You should have no credit card debt.
* You should not ever borrow against your 401 (k).

It's shocking to know how you SHOULD be living as opposed to how you live. And the other thing, no wants until credit card debt is paid off. At this rate, I'll NEVER get my flat screen TV.

Another January, another "The Biggest Loser." This season is tugging at my heartstrings already. This cast is the biggest cast they've ever had.

Already, I have some clear favorites. David and Daniel are my favorite. They seem like such nice boys and they have a ton of weight to lose. Daniel is the biggest player they've ever had. Carla and Joelle are two sassy best friends who also need to lose a bunch. Carla is the biggest woman they've ever had.

Ron has tried every diet ever and even stomach surgery and still can't seem to lose the weight.

Jerry is my favorite because he's the oldest and I want him to do well.

And now comes the big twist they threw on. The sent 9 people home! If their partner is still on the ranch, then they get to come back too, if not, they're done.

It sucked big time and was sooo unfair.

Today "The Oprah Winfrey Show" kicked off their live "Your Best Life" week. At first, I was rolling my eyes but decided to watch anyway. Today's topic is the "Oprah" standby: weight. Oprah was extremely candid about what brought her to her current 200 lb weight. (Sadly, that's what I'm TRYING to get DOWN to.)

And by the end of the show, I felt inspired. I realized that while it would nice be able to wear a size 33 waist, it's better to be healthy and have a strong heart. I also decided to stop focusing on what I don't have and what I DO have.

I know several people in my life would love to be able to run 1,2, or 3 miles and yet I do it. I know people who would love to be the size I am now. I know I want better, now it's time to do better.

New year, new stuff!!!

I was flipping through the channels looking for something to watch and then low and behold the TV gods answered my prayers. An all new "Desperate Housewives" was on and it was fantastic.

I had forgotten how much I missed this show. When last we left, Porter Scavio was on the run after being accused of starting a deadly fire. (In actuality, Edie's creepy husband Dave started the fire to cover up his murdering of his psychologist who surprised him in Fairview.) Leaving his twin Preston to pretend to be him and maybe take the rap for "crime."

Susan realized that Mike had moved on with Kathryn and so she spent this episode trying to decide if she was going to move in with Jackson. (In real life, the actor, Gale Harold had gotten into a nasty motorcycle accident, so they had to write him off the show for a bit so he could heal).

If you would have asked me a few seasons ago if Gaby and Carlos were still worth being on this show, I would have said no, but now, they've earned it because they've been fantastic this season. From watching her deal with his blindness and sudden restoration of sight, Gaby has stolen the spotlight from the other women. Tonight, Carlos got offered a high paying job that he didn't want because he wanted to help the blind. It brings up an interesting question: what's more important, money to help your family, or self fulfillment by helping those in in need? Gaby begged Carlos to take the job because she's been struggling to make ends meet and he now has a chance to make sure his family his provided for. It's also interesting this question was brought up now in this recession.

Bree had to fight off Andrew's future mother in law for attention. Bree wound up buying the happy couple a house (yay! More gays on Wisteria Lane!!) to keep them in Fairview.

And speaking of gays, Susan had a drunken night on the town with Lee. They attended the WORST. GAY. CLUB. EVER. Complete with horrible base music and the worst nondancing gay people in the world. They make me look like I'm Fred Astaire.

Susan thought she and Lee had done the nasty but luckily Lee told her they only slept together and that's it. Bob, Lee's partner, came over to make sure Lee had spent the night with Susan. But before Bob came over, Susan was telling Gaby about how guilty she felt sleeping with someone and she didn't remember. Gaby put two and two together and cracked up in front of Bob much to Susan's chagrin. It was one of the funniest moments of the night.

A not so funny moment came when Lynette found out that Preston knew where Porter was she hit the roof and begged him to come back. Unbeknownst to Lynette, Porter has taken refuge at her mother's house.

Lynette had Preston in the car with her and threaten to run the man over who threatened her family and her son was shocked that she'd go to such lengths to protect him.

At Edie's Dave had creeped her out with his talking to the dead and she asked him to leave

But here are some lingering questions: Porter is using a cell phone, can't the police track him down using his cell? Why haven't the police asked to see BOTH the boys together? I'm just saying.....

As we all know, there's nothing on TV. And there won't be until February/March when sweeps return. So usually the networks trot out bad reality shows (Remember Battle of the Choirs from last year?)

This year, Vh1 has "Confessions of a Teen Idol" where washed up TV stars try to get their fame back. The show includes Adrian Zmed and Billy Hufsey. I'm also looking forward to seeing what happened to Jamie Walters.

He-Man!

It's the holiday season and we TV addicts know what that means: Yep. Bad TV specials, bad reality shows and of course really bad reruns.

Thankfully, we won't have to sit through reruns this year because of Hulu.com. It was just named Web site of the year by the folks of the Associated Press. It's well deserved.

I know some people hate Hulu because of it's inconsistent nature and the commercials, but when it's on, it's on. This week, I squealed when "He-Man" and "Fat Albert" were unveiled. I grinned from ear to ear for a good 10 minutes.

If you don't know the story of "He-Man" here it is: Prince of a far away world discovers that a sword given to him has magic powers and transforms him to the muscle bound He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe. His pet talking cat is transformed and adventures ensue. Sounds corny but I LOVED it. Each show had some sort of moral and He-Man or one of the cast always explained what the moral was in case you were too dense to get it.

"Fat Albert" was about black teen-ager who was fat but had a heart of gold. He always did the right thing and hung out with a group of kids: Bill, the normal one, Russell, Bill's younger brother, Bucky, a teen with bucked teeth, Weird Harold, self explanatory, Mushmouth, a teen who spoke gibberish and Rudy, the cool cat with the bad hat. Together, they were the Cosby kids. It aired late Saturday mornings and I loved it because there were black kids like me on TV. I never understood how we could have pink panthers but not black kids on TV.

So while you're watching the dreadful "Momma's Boys," I'll be enjoying my Hulu.com

"Villians"

Craptacular. That's the way I describe this chapter of "Heroes." After such a promising start this chapter just meandered and lost it's way. Tonight's finale started out strong but logic flew out the window at the 30 minute mark.

Sylar terrorized the folks at The Company with HRG, Claire, Merdith and Angela trapped inside. HRG set the prisoners free (the Puppet Master, Iron Fist and the real Black Canary so Sylar could hunt them down bit by bit.

He injected Merdith with adrenaline and she couldn't control her ability.

Matt, Daphne and Ando all worked together to rescue Hiro. Ando got the ability to supercharge other people's abilities. So now he's the one with the power and Hiro is the one without a power.

Angela revealed that she knew who Gabriel's real parents were. And Claire got him with a piece of glass in the back of his head. Merdith would up burning down the company because she lost control of her abilities.

Nathan revealed himself to be a villan now and Tracy and Mohinder would up driving out into the dark together. Hiro destroyed the formula and Matt and Daphne would up together.

And now chapter four: Fugitives

It looks promising. Nathan flipped the script and agreed to turn the other heroes in, including Micah! So it'll be interesting to see how this place out.

Well say what you will about "Survivor: Gabon," it finally got interesting and STAYED that way.

The show started with the "Surivors" discussing the ousting of Crystal. I knew that in 29 minutes, that Kenny would be the next to go and lo and behold, Kenny got the boot.

Then, I knew that Susie would be the next to go but surprise, surprise, she won the final immunity challenge! Then I knew Bob would go but Sugar flipped the script and made him and Matty compete and Bob managed to stay in. During the challenge, you could see Susie cringe because she KNEW Sugar was giving away her shot at the million bucks. The jury's reaction was hysterical especially Corinne's because you could see the HATE she had for Sugar.

Sugar knew that jury wouldn't vote for her and Bob knew that he thought he had it in the bag, and I'm sure most of America did too.

I was rooting for Sugar. At four key times, she flipped the script and orchestrated the ousting of Marcus, Randy, Ace and Kenny thereby changing the course of the game.

Charlie asked why Susie and Sugar they should get the big bucks. Crystal was next and called Susie out on coattailing, She then said Sugar controlled Bob. And then asked why he voted Crystal out and Sugar told her the truth that she was a bully. Ken was next, and then asked why she deserved the money. Kenny then asked Sugar why he backstabbed him. Sugar cried and cried and thought he was a bigger threat. Ken said he didn't believe her. Ken then kept harping on their "deal." Ken said that isn't what he wanted to hear. Corrine was next. She asked Susie if she could have her vocal cord removed. Corrine wanted to see "Nasty Bob." He didn't do it, Corrine unleashed on Sugar and then gave her the bird. Those two won't ever speak again. Marcus was next and wanted Susie to be a positive role model. Sugar wanted to give money to lung cancer. Marcus wanted to know about responsibility about Bob and Bob said the opportuntity didn't come up.

And finally it was Randy's chance. Randy was mean to Susie. Sugar was next. And called Randy a jerk. Randy was ticked off at Bob and said he might be forced to vote for Susie because she didn't laugh. Matty was next and he asked why she deserved the money. Matty wanted to reveal what she did what was evil and said Kenny. And he asked Bob why they were more deserving and he said "I don't think they are."

And he was right. He barely eeked out against Susie. Sugar got no votes which was kind of shocking to me because I think she played a really good game.

Who's gonna win Survivor?

I thought this season of "Survivor" would be boring after watching the first few episodes. I was wrong.

The last six episodes have been on point and each tribal council has been better than the last. Last episode, Kenny got fooled by Bob and Corrine and his strategy was blown out of the water. Unfortunately, Corrine was a casualty, but at least she forced the rest of the group to see Kenny as the power player that he is.

Kenny scrambled and almost had Bob in his alliance but then after Crystal got mad at Matty and yelled, her fate was sealed.

Sugar finally played her hidden immunity idol, when she gave it to Matty so he could be saved. It was the most boneheaded and brilliant at the same time. It might win her favor with the jury and it might get her Matty's vote if she outlasts him.

The final five are Matty, Bob, Sugar, Susie and Kenny. The finale is Sunday. I hope Bob wins because he's a good guy and that I think is what is going to cause him to be ousted next. He'll be followed by Matty which leaves a Kenny/Susie/Sugar final three.

Susie will NOT win this because many will feel she didn't deserve it. That leaves Kenny/Sugar. Kenny has some friends on the jury but he enginnered the ousting of many of them so he might now win. Corinne HATES Sugar and now Crystal and Randy so they will NOT vote for her. However, the others might so I'm predicting Sugar for the win.

We'll see on Sunday.

I have a confession.
I broke up with "The Biggest Loser" this year and thought I had left it behind. But then about three weeks ago, for some reason, I got sucked by in.
I love the show. I love the fact that we get to see these people transform before our eyes. But in reality, these people could NOT lose this weight so quickly.
And, these people are basically sequestered in fat camp for about three months, they have no CHOICE but to lose the weight because almost every moment is spent exercising and eating right.
It was that fact that kinda turned me off the show. However, since I'm now fighting the battle of the bulge myself, it's best to pick up tips whenever I can.
We're down to the final four, Vicky, Heba, Michelle and Ed.
Vicky is EEEEVIL. Like the original "Mean Girl," and her understudy Heba engineered several people being booted from the show.
Ed was kicked off but managed to get back on when they brought the booted contestants back to compete to get back on the show. Since then, the two of them have been somewhat sickening.
Last night, we discovered that Ed GAINED two pounds during a weigh in to try to give Heba a shot at the final three. Instead, America has to chose between him and Heba to see who gets the third spot. That being said, Ed's dumb, but I think he should win this game. He's a great guy.
If not him, then Michelle should get the prize because she's worked her butt off and is just an all around great woman. I hope Heboppotumus falls face first in a cheesecake because she's AWFUL!

The Secret Millionaire

Fox Broadcasting hasn't been known for really good reality TV shows. Remember "Joe Millionaire"? Or "Married by America"? Well, they are at it again with "The Secret Millionaire."

The premise of the show: Wealthy people live undercover with the poor AS poor people. At the end of the week, they give away at least $100,000 of their own money to "deserving" people. The cameras are explained as a documentary about poverty. At the end of the week both rich and poor have their lives changed - for the better.

But this being Fox, shenanigans are afoot.

I watched last week and am watching tonight and I have to say, the show is entertaining, and that's how I'm treating this, as entertainment. However, there's a part of me that's saddened to see how people are living in the U.S.

After last week's show, you can bet I'll NEVER set foot in Imperial Beach ever. I've lived in San Diego and have been to I.B. maybe twice and after seeing the portrayal on this show, it looked like a disgusting mess. However, after asking around, I found that this show apparently showed only the WORST side of the area.

I also worry about Fox broadcasting that certain people in poor neighborhoods are suddenly the recipients of $100,000. It seems dangerous to me, but we'll see how this limited run show goes.

Does anyone care about "Heroes?"

Another week, another blah week of "Heroes." Thankfully, this tragically LONG storyline will be over and "Fugitives" can begin. Unfortunately, I may not be there to watch it.

The good this week: Bad ass Sylar is back. The bad: Elle is dead and burned. Goodbye Kristen Bell.
The good: Hiro reunites with his mom. It turns out she was the Catalyst. She passes it on to him. The bad: Arthur Petrelli steals it like two minutes later and takes Hiro's powers as well. And he tosses him over the side of the building and he's lost in time. (Maybe he'll meet up with Peter's squeeze from last season and rescue her.)
The good: Arthur Petrelli appears to be dead. The bad; We're not sure. We saw a lot of lights and blood but that doesn't mean jack on this show.
The good: Ando, Daphne and Matt all work together to get the last issue of "9th Wonders." The bad: Seriously???
The good: Nathan is a bad ass. The bad: A gayish looking Marine was injected with the formula with the Catalyst in tow and gets all Hulky without the green skin and unsightly muscles.

I'll call this section: burning questions.....
1) Why do they need this formula? Apparently they can already GIVE people powers. Meet exhibit a) Nathan and exhibit b) Tracy.
2) Who created this formula? And how is this tied to the big bad eclipse?
3) Shouldn't this back and forth in time cause some sort of ripple or time paradox that someone, somewhere will have to fix?
4) Why didn't daddy Petrillie take Claire's powers?
5) Why was the human lie detector on Elle's phone? And why did Sylar get it?
6) How many abilities can one person hold?
7) Now that Daddy Petrelli has taken people's powers and is now "dead" do the people get their abilities back?

My head hurts just thinking about it.

I hope they win!! (not)

Tonight is the finale for "The Amazing Race," and I have to say I'm glad this season is over. While I love the show, there's no one team I have a burning desire to see win.

Nick and Starr (pictured) have won half of the legs of the race but they just aren't nice people. Ken and Tina have bickered about everything and I want them OFF my TV set. That leaves the Frat boys Dan and Andrew who keep screwing up. They only made the final three because of a huge screw up of a stronger team, but I guess in the end, if you're in the finals, you're in the finals. I have a tendency to jinx teams so I'm throwing my support behind Nick and Starr and hope I stat true to form. Go team!

The show will return in February, and I hope they have a much better cast.

Flat screen or not flatscreen, now that is a question....

See this TV, yep, it's not mine. But maybe someday.....

So my friends JumptheSnark and Lekili and my friend Steve all have something I envy. It's purdy new TV sets.

I have a old TV. Like 1994 old. Like if it were a child, it would be a teenager.

It's still runs OK but when someone is wearing bright red we sometimes can't tell if they've been murdered because the red is bleeding so much. I'd like a new one, but I wonder if spending this money is worth it.
This might come back to bite me in the butt, but I don't think spending $1,000 or less will put us out in the poor house.

Then I began to think of the shows I'd really like to see in high def. This is the list I could come up with.

"24" Jump was kind enough to invite me to his house (We should do this again SOON) when he first got his TV and I had a blast! It was good to see Jack in high def and see things go down in CTU.

"America's Next Top Model". I'm inviting myself over to Lekili's house and to see Tyra in all her flat, high-def glory.

"Survivor". My friend Steve, his girlfriend Chris and I are avid "Survivor" fans. They invite me over to see the premiere and I buy them pizza from their favorite pizza joint. It's great to see the show and the backstabbing live and in great color.

Other than that, this is it.

So the question is: Is it worth it?

An ode to Kristen Bell

This season of "Heroes" has made me pull my hair out on more than one occassion. After a strong start, it petered out. But one good thing was the extraordinary acting of Kristen Bell. Y'all know how much I adore this young lady and her acting and from her days on "Veronica Mars."

She can act rings around most of the cast (Daphne I'm looking at you). And now because of a stupid plot twist, she's gone.

Poor Kristen, you're too good for this show and let's hope a movie career awaits you.

Last night during the LONGEST ECLIPSE EVER we learned that people got their powers back. I'm wondering if this was a reset for Peter? Mohinder almost reunited with Maya luckily we only saw her for a few seconds.

They keep trying to force Matt and Daphne on us but I'm resisting with all my might, this it totally not working for me so I wish they'd stop.

Hiro finally used his powers in a GOOD way so I was glad about that and he got to spend some time in a cool comic book store. I just want this storyline to be over.

Hear that? That's the sound of my heart breaking as the last "good" time was eliminated from "The Amazing Race."

Toni and Dallas were always kind, always thoughtful and just all around good sports. Unfortunately, Dallas made a game-killing error in the race and that got them Phileliminated. Poor Dallas, he couldn't count Stalins and Lenins and then he left their money and passports in the cab.

Then they didn't READ THE CLUE and had to restart. It was sad.

So I'm rooting for the inept frat boys to win because it would serve Starr and Nick right to lose and as well as the bickering Kenny and Tina. If the frat boys win, it would be the biggest win in the history of the race!

It seems like it's been forever since we've seen Jack in action. Tonight's "prequel" to season 7 (Can you believe it?) wraps up some loose ends and starts a whole new season.

At the end of last season, we saw a beaten and lost Jack Bauer who had to make a choice to sacrifice his love for Audrey so she could have a normal life.

We catch up to him in the fictional country of Sangala, Africa where he's found a refuge with a former colleague who's running an all boys school.

Jack has become close to one kid named Willie and his brother and appears to be somewhat happy. Unfortunately, it won't last.
In Sangala an evil general seeks to obtain power and he's using the innocent children as soldiers to help fight his war.

Meanwhile, it's inaugration day in Washingon as a new president, Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones) takes office. This war is landing right on her lap.

It turns out the war is connected to a Washington insider who's financing the war and when a friend of the first son uncovers the plot, he winds up killed.

Back in Africa, one of Jack's charges defies orders and goes to town and is almost captured when they are ambushed by soliders. As they attempt to flee, they're shot.

At the school, Jack is being hassled by the U.S. forces who tells him he needs to come back home and answer charges of torture. Jack offers to leave the school when he gets word that the children are in trouble.

The rest of the time is spent trying to get the children to safety at the U.S. embassy. Along the way, Jack is tortured and even manages to kill someone with his knees!

Of course, we know that Jack gets the kids to safety and the president is inaugurated but it's the preview to the next season that adds to the excitement.

Without spoiling, expect the unexpected!

Hope and heartbreak

Last night, the 8 p.m. hour on CBS and ABC was the strongest of the season as "Survivor" and "Ugly Betty" both aired the best shows of their respective seasons.

I've already blogged about "Surivor" (Randy YES!!!) and now it's time to talk about Justin.

The A-plot had Betty and Marc trying to fight to get a position for a training program for young editors. (Kudos for the writer for finally fleshing Marc out as a person with ambition and kudos for them for humanizing Wilhemena and boo on who ever is dressing Betty!)

The B- plot was how Willie is after Connor and finally deciding to give up.

But it was the C-plot which was the attention grabber for me.

A few weeks ago, Justin tried out for a play on Broadway and learned that a bully from school secretly loved to dance and wanted to be on Broadway too. They've been hanging out and it was clear that Justin was having feelings for this boy and it was also clear that the boy kinda liked Justin too.

But then, our friend peer pressure stepped in: Randy was spotted with Justin by his jock friends and they secretly mocked the two. And of course what happened? Randy dissed Justin and went back to the friends.

I sat on my couch and had my heart break because I KNOW that moment! I'm going to change names to protect the innocent, but years ago when I was in school, there was a guy who broke my heart in the same way.

He too was a jock and we discovered that we shared a love for comic books after I spotted him in the comic book store one day. Soon, it became our ritual to meet up at the front gate of my school and walk to the comic book store together. We discovered we shared a love of the same music, movies and more. He was my McDreamy back then.

Then one day, we were coming out of the comic book store and he was spotted by his team. The next week, I waited for 30 minutes and he didn't show. At school he avoided me. Finally one day, he tried to bully me in the school cafeteria and of course, NO one messes with TheRemote and so a fight ensued.

Needless to say, I got some punches in and so did he, but he looked worse than I (I don't advocate fighting BTW) and we never spoke again. Over the years, I never forgot him and although this may sound cheezy, I have a feeling he was watching and somewhere out there, we connected again.

I hope that ABC has the courage to not end the Justin/Randy thing because let's face it, kids are coming out younger and younger and while this show hasn't openly addressed it, it's clear that the whole family knows about Justin and doesn't care. I loved that Hilda told Justin not to EVER change and always be himself.

It's a lesson we all need to be reminded of from time to time.

Can you hear it?
It's my laughing hysterically in what will I'm sure go down as one of the BEST "Survivor" episodes ever!

But first things, first: I'm sorry "Survivor: Gabon." I was ready to bail on you but my lord, you came through tonight in spades!
The last few episodes were in a word: AWESOME as people are really playing the came and true colors are shining through.

Tonight was the annual "Survivor" auction and as usual, people were fighting for items such as chocolate, peanut butter and beer. Randy cleaned up with beer, spaghetti etc. And then he bought cookies for the tribe: it was here where "Cookiegate" was born.

Randy offered Sugar a cookie. She politely refused. He offered her again and she refused again. Then he proceeded to tell everyone he was the boss and alienated people.

Finally Sugar gave her cookie to Matty and that made Randy very sad.

Randy decided to seek revenge by being mean to everyone under the assumption that Bob found the hidden immunity idol. Unfortuantely he didn't know that Sugar had it and Bob trusted Sugar to show him his fake idol. (I did notice that Sugar didn't let Bob in on her secret that SHE had the idol. And isn't it odd that she's shown NO ONE the idol and they are all under the assumption that she has it?)

Later, after Ken won the immunity challenge. Randy then went off even more. Bob then gave Randy the FAKE idol and he and Corienne thought they had the upper hand.

Instead, THEY were the ones that looked like chumps. IN the words of Crystal "Goodbye and Go HOME!."

Earlier tonight, my friend Jump the Snarkwere at the day job and he told me that he had a few episodes of "Heroes" stacked up on his TiVo. (I envy him with his high end TV and TiVo but I digress...)

Ordinarily, I'd have tried to make him feel guilty but instead, I thought to myself, you totally can erase all of these episodes, read the recaps on move on with your life.

This season has been Bo-RING. Seriously. I know some people who've loved it, but not me.

After a great start, this thing has spiralled out of control. I'm not looking for the shark just yet, but let's say it's close by.

Here's what's wrong:

Payoff: I feel like I'm being strung along. There's no payoffs along the way and it's like they are throwing everything and the kitchen sink at this thing and still no good results.

Characters acting dumb: Let's look at Exhibit A: Hiro. I don't care about him. I don't care about his story. Why can't he and Ando be part of the action for a change instead of teleporting around the world. Surely there's an American branch of the big company he owns. Why can't he and Ando move to NYC and be done with it.

Claire: While I was all about Saving the Cheerleader, I'm now thinking: Who cares? And why is it, that she's the most important person on this show? Now she's the key to everyone having powers?

People you don't care about: Matt Parkman, I'm looking at you.

Lack of power development: People's powers should grow over time. Take this show. While the premise was kinda dumb, you did see them practice and learn about their powers and over time, they proved to be pretty formidable foes.

The next chapter is called "Fugitives" let's hope they don't mean the fans fleeing from the show.

While I like this show, it makes me furious. Why or WHY can't people read the clue!

Tonight, NOT reading the clue was almost the undoing of the Frat Boys.

And I kinda want them to win the race because they seem to be the everyman that does this. There are TWO Non-elimination legs left, I'm guessing one will be next week and the other the week after with the finale coming in December.

Tonight the two teams that participated in the fast forward had to eat some nasty sheep's butt and it I were on the race, it would be at this point I'd say. "We've lost. Take me to the hotel."

So who's left: Ken and Tina who've calmed down but I still hate her. Nick and Starr who I hate. and Toni and Dallas who I LOVE. So I'm rooting for them or the frat boys. Sadly, I think Nick and Starr might have this inthe bag.

I am way too busy.
I realized this today when I fell asleep this afternoon, while working on a project for the second job.
Along the way, I also realized that I've been neglecting this blog and that's sad because blogging makes me very happy.
Luckily, in the next few days, I'll be getting some free time as some shows are going on winter hiatus or just leaving the airwaves.
By far, my favorite show has been "The Real Housewives of Atlanta.". It also seems as America has fallen in lovewith the group too as they were featured in The Bible aka "Enterainment Weekly." along with some of Bravo's other stars. The finale airs Tuesday at 10 p.m and to show you how much I love this show, I'm going to RECORD "Law and Order: SVU" and watch "Housewives" instead.

My other favorite show has let me down. "America's Next Top Model." While I still love this show, I wasn't feeling this cycle AT all! I'm calling McKey for the win on Wednesday. I'm hoping to watch it at a friend's house on her flat-screen TV, that is if we can find the vermin who "misplaced it" at Fed EX.

Thursday night will free up in a few weeks. We're doing the merge on "Survivor" and it looks as if it could be anyone's game at this point. I have NO one to root for but I don't want this guy to win.

"Ugly Betty" is still on point and it looks as if they finally are getting back to what we loved on Season 1. Although whomever is dressing Betty needs to be fired. There's ugly and there's tragic. We clearly are into tragic territory.

Sunday has been getting better and better. I'm actually watching "60 Minutes" these days and then that bleeds over to "The Amazing Race" and then to "Desperate Housewives."

"DH" is back to Season 1 good. At first, I was skeptical with the five-year jump, but it appears it was JUST what this show needed!

Continuity shenanigans

Color me disappointed.
Tonight, "Heroes" tried to fill in the gaps in their story by having Hiro go on a spirit journey to discover what when on to bring them to the present day.

Unfortunately, they told a half-ass story and used some old footage to try to fool fans.

Tonight's story focused on the Petrelli clan and how Arthur wound up in that coma and how he fooled his family into thinking he was dead. It turns out that he had used his power on Angela and scarred her mind and forced his thoughts on her. (Mind rape?) Only when Linderman "healed" her she enacted a plan to take him down.

Meanwhile, we discovered that Meredith and Mr. Blue Flame (sorry, he's so minor to me, his name hasn't stuck with me yet) are brother and sister. Of course, this makes him Claire's uncle. (How many family connections are we having on this show?)
We discover that she was a bad girl and then was made an agent and then freed her brother and was caught.

She was set free once HRG's boss decided took pity on her when she told him how The Company "killed" Claire. Of course this takes place at a train wreck she caused and where Claire illustrated her powers of near invulnerability.

The main story was how Elle tricked Sylar into killing someone so that they could study how his power worked. Of course, this contradicted the WHOLE FIRST SEASON where they were looking for Sylar and how no one knew what he looked like and where he was. But of course, excuse me for continuity.

The episode ends with Daddy Petrelli getting the drop on Hiro and apparently absorbing his powers....

Episode Grade: D for DUMB.

Even Anderson Cooper loves "Housewives of Atlanta"

OMG. I freaking LOOVE this show. The drama, oh the drama!
I'm hyperventilating because of the drama.

This post is a few days late because the original airing was on Election Night and no WAY was I going to miss Barack Obama's speech.

So I caught the show this morning and even REWATCHED it tonight and was totally entertained.

If you're not watching, here's what you missed.

The war between Sheree and NeNe heated up as they both fought for Kim's attention. It looks as if Sheree won Kim because Kim was told about a song that NeNe sung in a limo about Kim.

Kim is under the delusion that she's a country singer but the girl can't find a tune if someone gave her a map with directions. She went to a voice coach under the recommendation of producer Dallas Austin who wants to record a song with her called "Tightrope." It's bad when the Kim's 6-year-old daughter sounds better when Kim does.

And speaking of the song, NeNe sang a hilarious song about Kim and her "career" as a country singer. Unlike Kim, NeNe can actually sing.

Lisa and Deshawn seems to be pushed to the side because they had next to nothing to do in this episode. Although I think Lisa was the one who ratted NeNe out to Sheree about the song and Sheree told Kim who was furious. So furious that she sent NeNe a text calling her a "low-rent bitch."

Other gems from this episode: Kim to audience "The voice coach kept nitpicking me and wanted me to learn the ABC of singing. What do I care, I'm a singer."

Kim to Dallas Austin: "She asked me how to spell cat and I said 'k-a-t."

NeNe's song: "I say I'm twenty-nine but I look eighty-niiiine....."

I gotta hand it to CBS. They know how to put on a good show. This season has had so many twists and turns that it's not even funny. Tonight's twist: Good food but no merge.

Yep. The tribes were all set to merge and instead they got shuffled. It really hurt Marcus because the problem was that he thought he was in control and instead the little people fought back and got him.

Poor Charlie is going to be heartbroken when he sees Marcus is gone. Over in Fang, Matty and Sugar fight to stay alive and Matty wins tribal immunity and spares himself from council.

Next week, more twists!

Madonna....

So last night, some friends and I drove up to LA to see Madonna in concert. The show was amazing!! Now, you might be confused and asking your sell: How does this relate to TV?

Well it sorta surreal as dozens of TV stars showed up for the show. I spotted: Chris Kattan, Ryan Seacreast, Jillian Michaels (holding her girlfriend's hand), Ross the Intern and Hayden Paniterre.

But the one who thrilled me the most: JD from "Workout!" I worked up the nerve to talk to him and I told him that he was the best thing on the show and he smiled at me. I copped a quick feel of his biceps, the boy is built like a rock!

One thing I learned: TV makes people look taller because I was shocked at how short a lot of these folks looked!

When Cycle 11 started, I had some early favorites such as Isis and Brittany but now they are long gone. My last favorite, Sheena, was booted tonight.

We pick up with the girls in Amsterdam and they have to run around the city trying to find their apartment. It's kind like this show.

Then the models had to go to skank row to model. McKey and Sam won the challenge and 50 extra frames although they didn't need it.

Then the women had to go on a ship and model and it came down to Elina and Sheen as the bottom two and poof! Sheena was booted. Poor Sheena. I wanted YOU to win.

Warning: This blog contains spoilers for the latest episode of "Heroes" read at your own risk.

This week the entertainment bible declared "Heroes" needs fixing.

After watching tonight's episode, I'm inclined to agree. This "Villains" storyline is a great big yawn. It started out with such promise but now, it's just getting long and boring. I'm ready for it to be over.

I'm not going to abandon the show but seriously, it needs to get its act together quickly. A quick recap: Daddy Petrelli's back and he wants power. After stealing stuPeter's power last episode he chains him and and asks him to join his quest. How stuPeter is going to do this powerless is beyond me.

Daphne Quick is assigned to go recruit Boring Man the mind reader and refuses. Boring Man's dad tells Daddy Petrelli that he should leave Boring Man alone and he gets his neck snapped. I guess we wouldn't like Daddy Petrelli when he's angry.

This spooks Daphne Quick and she and she agrees to kill Boring Man. After Mr. Fear arrives on the scene and appears to kill them both, it's revealed that Boring Man used his mind mojo to create realistic illusions.

Meanwhile, at Mohinder-man's lair, the Ice Queen and the Mr. America try to reason with him.

Mohinder-man grabs Maya and heads straight to Papa Petrelli who then takes Maya's ability and leaves her powerless. She's then sent away to live a normal life. But more imporantly she is off the show!!!!! YAY! HRG and Fire arrives and Fire warns Ice to watch Mr. America.

Mama Petrelli reaches out of her coma and gets Sylar to go rescue stuPeter. He does but along the way gets a beating from Mohinder-man and switches sides (or does he?)

At Wolverette's house, Spark arrives and she's lost control of her powers. Wolverette's family takes Spark down and she and Wolverette agrees to go to see if they can get their abilities fixed. Along the way, the two almost brings down a plane full of people when Spark's powers go haywire.

At Papa Petrelli's, Sylar sends stuPeter flying out of a window and Spark and Wolverette sees him. Wolverette grabs stuPeter and makes a break for it, while Spark heads straight in to get her powers removed.

Wolverette calls Mr. America and he and the Ice Queen arrive. They agree that Papa Petrelli needs to be stopped. In African, Dream Man, Hiro and Ando try to figure out a way to stop the shenanigans. The episode ends with Hiro going on a spirit quest and that's it.

I found myself very bored most of the time and looking at my watch, which is sad because I normally like this show.

My suggestions on how to fix this show?

1) Kill Peter. Yes, I said it. KILL PETER. He's pretty but dumb and while that may work with one-night stands, it's kinda dumb with superheroes.

2) More personal stories. I've been enjoying Claire's arc this season but she needs another power. Healing is cool and now feeling no pain adds to that. She's a vulnerable invulnerable person. I'd like to see her have superstrength or something to add to the mix.

3) Keep Mohinder doing the voice-overs but keep him out of the action. He's useless and worthless.

4) Pick one story and stick to it. NO more time jumping. I'd rather see how these people struggle to fit into society with these powers.

5) If you don't kill Peter, then keep Sylar as the bad guy and have them go at it every few episodes. If Peter is Superman, then let Sylar be Bizarro.

We get a two-week reprieve and hopefully the next arc: "Fugitives" will take the show in a different direction.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta

A few weeks ago while at at dinner, my two divas, Dana and Donyale, turned me on to a show that was set to debut on Bravo. It was part of the "Real Housewives..." series and at first I wasn't interested. I didn't watch the Orange Co. crew and could care less about the N.Y.C. women.

But, my friends countered, this is different. These women are crazy. After much hemming and hawing, I relented and agreed to watch. Now, all I've got to say is "THANK YOU." If you're into trainwrecks, then this is the trainwrecky-est as they come.

If you haven't watched, let's meet the housewives.

My favorite is NeNe. She's loud. She wears age-inappropriate tops (the girls look like they are going to escape at any second) and she's a hoot. One minute she's "axing you a question.." and the next she's your best friend. Out of them all, she's the most real and isn't afraid to tell it like it T-I-S...

Then there's Sheree who's NeNe's archnemisis. She's a bit more classy but also very conniving and very underhanded. She's also in the middle of a bitter divorce and thinks very highly of herself and looks down on people.

Lisa seems to be the most grounded of all of them. She's married to an Atlanta Falcon, Ed Hartwell, and has like 10 jobs ranging from a Realtor to a jewelry designer.

DeShawn is the country girl. This woman is the one who needed a nanny and a governess and a ton of staff to help her manage two kids (!) She's also butchers the English language and says words like "jewry" and "axes a lot of questions."

Kim is raising a lot of ire on message boards because of her horrible parenting and her lifestyle. She's got a celeb boyfriend "Big Poppa" who pays for everything. Many think he's married others think she's setting a bad example for her kids by spending her money on material things. In the premiere episode, she asked Big Poppa for an Escalade and she got to ride off in a fully-loaded one that day. She decided that she wanted to be a country singer and poof here's Dallas Austin .

We're three episodes in, but you can still jump on. TRHOA airs Tuesday nights at 10 p.m. on Bravo.

Heroes: Papa Petrelli is bad to the bone

"Heroes" is frustrating me this year. One week: AWESOME. The next week: DUD. This week: MEH...

I have to see where this chapter is going to lead but it seems very disorganized and it also makes me wonder if the writers are making all of this up as they go along.

This week, we met Papa Petrelli and it looks as if his power is to steal other powers by touch. Kinda like the Parasite. His first victim was Adam Kensi. Poor Adam, brought back for a few episodes and then POOF dust!

The one good thing is we FINALLY got a good fight between Sylar and Peter. (Peter won) and Peter finally got a clue and remembered how powerful he is. Now, Papa Petrelli has those powers because he absorbed them all from Peter. I don't know if Peter is powerless but lord let's hope so. I have a feeling he's been stripped of many of his powers but not his empathy power.

Nathan and Tracy went to see Mohinder only to be double crossed by them. Tracy almost takes Mohinder down for the count, but it looks as if they are recaptured. Let's hope Maya wakes up and uses her scary black eyes of death to weaken Mohinder so they can escape.

The best news of all: Ando is ALIVE!!! Last week, Hiro stabbed him but it was all a ruse. They not so dynamic duo then go to Africa to try to get the precog but he's one step ahead of them, even knocking Hiro out not once but twice.

Super Barbie (Claire) goes to try to rescue Meredith and they meet the puppet master. He nearly kills them all but Claire out smarts him and they subdue him.

Parkman tries to hook up with Daphne and she rebuffs him. It also helps that there is ZERO chemistry between them. And hello! What about Parkman's wife and his child out there?

More questions, less answers. Episode grade: B

The not so Amazing Race

I'm still hurt by the stunning Philimination of my geeks last week and almost gave up, but I'm glad I stuck around.

I have to say, this is the worst season so far. I want Terance and Sarah, the dumb divorcees and Starr and Nick gone. I have a feeling though that one of these teams will be in the final three.

Terance and Sarah seem to have found their groove and are working well together. The divorcees should have been booted last week but the geeks read the clue wrong and got hit with a penality. At least they had fun at the Elimination Station. (watch the video)

Starr and NIck are playing dirty and this week, karma paid them a visit. (more on that in a second)

Ken and Tina and the frat pack both tried to get to the fast forward but Ken and Tina beat them so the frat boys headed off to the road block. (Anyone thing these two will NOT be friends by the end of this?) At the road block the group had to pick a warrior who had a pattern on his face and match it to the one they chose out the box. Most teams breezed through this, and then they had to do another challenge where they had a choice of stomping kiwis to make enough juice to drink or sailing around a track in a wind fueled car. Nick and Starr were breezing through and then Starr took a nasty spill. She kept claiming she broke her arm and then GOT IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND DROVE AWAY! It was shocking. In the end, the blondes got booted because in a word, they were dumb.

Episode grade: B+

This week, the teams jetted off to New Zealand and were all on the same flight. Ken and Tina were lucky enough to get the fast forward

It's been a busy week, so pardon the late blogging.

Monday.
My mind is still reeling from the best "Heroes" episode in quite a while. So much happened such as four years in the future, Claire is a bad ass with dark hair. Parkman settles in with Daphne the speedster. Nathan and Tracy are the first power couple. But most of all Syler changed a LOT. He's a dad to a little boy named Noah and still is powerful.

After being confronted by Claire and crew he goes nuclear and destroys a whole town.

Wednesday
Was ticked that the BEST MODEL was kicked of "America's Next Top Model." Seriously, I was shocked, shocked, shocked and angry. The reason she got kicked off: lack of personality. Who the heck cares, just stand and look pretty. That's all it takes.

Just when I was recovering, "Project Runway aired. Freaking KENLEY made it to Bryant Park. She designs very pretty clothes but has a bad attitude. I pray that Leann wins.

Thursday
"Survivor" was a shocker. The Fang tribe finally did something right by voting off the right person. The episode was the one where "the game changes" Dun-Dun. Actually, they shook up the tribes and made the viewing much, much more interesting. Poor Sugar was sent back to Exile Island but who cares, she has the immunity idol from last week and poor Jacqui was sent home because the others didn't quite trust her.

"Ugly Betty" was funny as ever and we learned that Alexis pushed pregnant Christina down the stairs. In real life, the actress who plays her is pregnant but on the show, trannies can't get pregnant. We also learned that Daniel isn't little Daniel's daddy and that Hilda is still seeing the coach.

Not the nerds!!!!!

Is it me, or is this the most cutthroat season of "The Amazing Race" so far?

Seriously, Nick and Starr need to be taken down a peg. Terance and Sarah have serious issues and even Ty and Aja are getting into the action.

The only team that seems to be above all the pettiness is Toni and Dallas and they are my new favorite team. Mom Toni struggled but managed to make it to the end. Dallas is the bomb and whizzed through the challenge

Tonight the teams rode dangerous bikes through the Bolivia and wrestled in Bolivia but poor Mark and Bill misread a clue and that cost them the race.

Ken and Tina again won first place and that might be the team to beat. But Tina's scary eyebrows need to leave my TV quickly!

The divorcees have blood in their eyes after "The Sports Bra" incident where Starr tossed it over a ledge or something. I was laughing too hard to actually care to hear the details but seriously, can't someone go to Sears and get another one or is it that big of a deal?

Next week: There's trouble in paradise for Aja and Ty and Starr might have broken her arm! (Hooray,, um. boo....)

This season of "The Amazing Race" is shaping up to be fun. Ken and Tina won this leg of the race but Mark and Bill helped them and that might come back to haunt them.

My homegirls Marisa and Brooke need to get their act together seriously because they just kept doing stupid thing. Kelly and Christie are still there by sheer luck. They made two really BIG mistakes and yet they managed to pull it out but don't expect this to last.
Unfortunately, Anthony and Stephanie never got their groove and were Philiminated.

And now. let's talk about Terence and Sarah. These two need to break up like now. He's a jerk with a capital J and she's a doofus with a capital D and a dunce cap on top.

These two should not be a part of this game and instead should be on a therapy couch.

"Survivor," "Ugly Betty" and more...

Thursday nights at 8 p.m. is a battleground on my DVR. Two of my favorite shows "Ugly Betty" and "Survivor" go head to head. What normally happens is that I watch "Survivor" and then my partner gets home and then we watch "Betty" together. He likes "Betty" and is meh on "Survivor." So, it works out.

But, I might have to sneak and watch "Betty" without him because, it's just that good. We're on episode to on "UB" and the show feels so very Season One, but in a great way.

Betty has gotten her spunk back and she's not mired down in some romantic drama (unlike big sister Hilda who's sleeping with a married man). Daniel has gotten the boot from Mode and he's working for another magazine called Player which is a misnomer because it should be called Hoochies on Parade because that's what it is.

Betty wants back into Mode and away from Player but Daniel's pride won't let him do it. Meanwhile, the ever fabulous Wilhemina Slayer is the belle of the ball and is planning her launch party to celebrate her first issue of Mode.

Betty shows Alexis (Daniel's sister who's the Head Byotch In Charge of the Meade Empire) notes Daniel made on Willi's first issue. As you can guess, high jinks ensue and Daniel's back at Mode before the end of the episode.

Along the way, Christina (Betty's BFF who's the surrogate for Willi's baby. Daniel and Alexis's dad is the baby daddy) is injured.
Marc gets jealous when Betty becomes the No. 1 assistant and engineers Willi's takedown.
Marc gets a lullaby from his BFF Amanda. (The actress is great and they sooo need to use her character more)
HIlda Betty's sister gets stood up by the coach. Betty finds out about the affair and tells Hilda to walk away.
Justin (Hilda's obviously gay son gets confused about sports terminology) and we all have a great episode.

Here are some gems spouted along the way:

"No burrito for you" Marc to Betty informing her of her lunch date with Willi.
"Look at us, two women of color having a fancy lunch on the town. Isn't this fun, girlfriend?" Willi to Betty.
"And that blouse, it's heaven. Where did you get it? I love it" Willi to Betty followed by "No, you don't." Betty to Willi and finally "You're right, I don't. It's hideous, like driving through Ohio." Willi to Betty.
"I would never do anything wrong, ugly for morally suspect. That's what I have Marc for dear." Willi to Betty.

"Aunt Betty. You have to go back to Mode. Player gets me nothing. It's like I'm stuck at the bottom of the sandtrap at the bottom of the ninth quarter. Listen to me, I'm already changing!" Justin trying to reason with Betty to go back to Mode.
"Don't you think a doctor should do this or at least a nurse practioner?" Betty to Willi. "I'm so numb up there, I wouldn't know if you hit bone." Willi's reply to Betty.

"Betty, do you know why I hired you? I always suspected you're the brains behind Daniel Meade." Willi to Betty. "That's not true, Daniel's very smart" Betty's reply. "Yes, yes, yes, smart as a whip..." Willi's response.

"Get me some carrot shavings, I'm feeling very snackish." Betty in Betty's fantasy about being the next Wilhemina Slayer.

Survivor

Meanwhile over on CBS, the drama known as "Survivor" was unfolding. The Fang tribe was reeling after two losses in a role and I was thinking they were slowly going to be wiped out. Instead, they pulled it together and WON not once but twice!

One challenge had them fighting to stay on a pole and prevent being drug through mud, the other had them going down a Slip and Slide and assembling puzzle pieces. Fang sent Sugar to Exile Island where she looked for a hidden immunity idol. She found it and then told Ace that she had it (BIG mistake, it'll come back to bite her on the butt.) Ace was telling her that the Idol was "ours" to do what "we" want with it. Meanwhile, his enemy Paloma didn't stand a chance and she was voted out.

VH1's 100 Greatest Hip Hop Songs
I love hip-hop. While I'm not a die-hard as some of my friends, I like to think that I know enough about it that I could get by. And while VH1 and MTV have totally stopped showing videos these days, they are filling their airwaves with countdown shows and for some reason, I'm a sucker for them. I guess I love living in the past or something but anyway, this week they counted down the 100 Greatest Hip Hop Songs and for the most part, I agreed with the countdown.

It was great to see some old-school artists such as JJ Fad, Big Daddy Kane and UTFO. What amazed me was that I STILL knew the words to some of these songs.

Since it's VH1 you know it'll run umpteen times so make sure you check it out. Word up!

Tonight's challenge for the final four: design an evening gown inspired by flowers at the Botannical Garden. Let's just say everyine wilted on the vine because the dresses were horrible.

Jerell, Leanne and Korto all stuck together to show "She who has an attitude" who's the boss. At one of the most emotional runways ever, all the designers cried to let the judges know how bad they wanted it. Kenley threw Korto under the bus and in the waiting room, Korto called her out. In the end, all four get to make collections to show at Bryant Park but only three will compete. My money is on Korto, Kenley and Leann to make it to the end.

Did anyone else feel like this was the lamest challenge ever?

The girls had to make ill-fitting clothes work and McKey won the challenge.

Majorie while pretty has some serious self-esteem issues and she's a negative Nancy. She worked a lot of the girls nerves especially Samantha.

Then Tyra had the girls do a challenge where they had to pose as natural disasters of L.A. the problem was one of two of the disasters kinda sucked. Tidal waves? Snowstorms? In L.A.???

Clark and Joslyn found themselves in the bottom two and because of Joslyn's sunny personality, she managed to survive another week.

I'm kinda blah on this week's show but maybe it'll pick up next week.

Shuffling my viewing schedule

I made a big deal about how I was going to cut down on some TV viewing and give up some shows. "Chuck" was at the top of the list. Unfortunately, I got around to watching the season premiere and LOVED it.

Yesterday a colleague of mine at the day job were talking about how Monday night is jam-packed with good stuff. Is Monday the new night of "Must See TV"? I dunno.

Since I'm one person, working three jobs I can only do so much. That being said, "Chuck" is going to be moved to my Saturday afternoon or Saturday night show. That way I can watch and enjoy without the conflict.

My friends Jump the Snark and Lekili and I discuss TV but neither of them seem to be thrilled about "Chuck" so I'm safe there.

I'm going to have to move "The Biggest Loser" to a weekend show and just avoid spoilers like crazy. Last night, poor Jerry got the boot and it made me very sad.

I'm on the fence about "Law & Order: SVU" I LOVE the show but it's too intense at that hour. Last night, the case was about a teenager who was beginning to have thoughts about young boys. It was twisty and turn-y and ended up very sad.

I know the cases will give some people the heebiejeebies but let's face it folks, these pervs are out there and you could actually learn a LOT from watching.

So it looks as if my MUST WATCH shows will be: "Gossip Girl", "Heroes" on Mondays. Tuesdays, "Law & Order; SVU" (hmm, it just occurred to me, where's the first "Law and Order?"!

Wednesday: "America's Next Top Model" and "Project Runway" (until it goes off then "Stylista"0

Thursday: "Survivor" and then "Ugly Betty" (although I'll be watching it at 9 p.m.)

Friday, open. Saturday, open Sunday : "The Amazing Race," and "Desperate Housewives."

And speaking of "DH" Sunday's premiere was awesome. The quick recap: We've jumped five years in the future. Lynette's twins are out of control (surprise!). The other two seem to have fallen off the face of the earth. Gaby is fat with two fat kids and a blind husband. Bree is Martha Stewart 2.0. Katherine is jealous of Bree and Susan seems in "flingville".

Edie has moved back with a new husband who's the central character in this season's mystery. He wants revenge on someone, but who? My guess: Susan and Mike. It seems they had a bad car accident and a woman and her child were killed. They broke up because Susan felt too guilty while Mike didn't feel guilty enough. I think Edie's husband is the husband/father of the dead woman and her child.

But we'll see what happens.

Gossip Girl

After last's weeks shocking turn of events, we pick up with Blair's world rocked by the ascension of Serena as queen of the girls and Serena now in byotch mode.

Dan is still invisible boy and Jenny is dodging school to avoid the Sisterhood of the Traveling Evil. Blair thinks she's got a way to get her throne back by getting the girls second row seats to Fashion Week but that's until Serena is spotted in Women's Wear Daily with a socialite named Poppy.

Blair targets Jenny after Jenny helps rearrange the seating chart for the show. Jenny is in the doghouse with her dad and with the girls at school.
At Fashion Week, Blair tries to exercise her authority but is shut down by Jenny, Eleanor and Serena.

Jenny prepares to get the models ready to go but Blair has sabotage her. Meanwhile Dan and Chuck are languishing in jail after Dan punches a guy out while defending Chuck's honor. Chuck had insulted a woman by implicating that she was a prostitute.

Chuck drops a bombshell while in a holding cell with Dan: His mom died while giving birth to him. Chuck gets out of jail and shows his human side by offering to having Dan released too.

At home, Chuck's dad and Lily are reunited and Chuck's dad had it destroyed.

Jenny comes up with the idea to have society girls to model Eleanor's clothes and it actually turns out great. Serena keeps showing her human side and not wanting to hurt Blair's feelings. Poppy tells Serena to be amazing and not to hide her light and go for it. Serena is talked into doing the show and Blair gives Serena a dress to wear ( I wonder if it's Jenny's) and Serena is the hit of the runway. Luckily she knows how to model. And I'm right: Eleanor sees that a dress on the runway is not hers and we're off to commercial break before we see what happens next.

Jenny begs Blair to leave her alone. Jenny tells Blair that she wanted to be HER friend and wante HER to like her and Blair feels this small.

Chuck is at jail and sees that Dan was haning with him for a reason. At Lily's Bart drops a bombshell about her past and she's thrown for a loop.

At Fashion Week, Eleanor learns that Jenny's dress is getting headlines. Jenny begs Eleanor to take credit. Blair jumps on board and Eleanor comes out a winner. (The dresses are fug).

Jenny igs daddy at the Fashion Week show and you can tell hell is going to break loose. (Meanwhile, practically EVERY commericial during the break was for this movie!)

Dan calls his professor and he bails him out. Dan tells his professor what Chuck's secret and decides not to use the story.

Serena tells Blair to get a clue and a war is on. I think I like Serena 2.0.

Jenny and her dad get into it and Jenny tells her dad that she's NOT going back to school.

And we're off until next week.

Yay! My show is back!
The Amazing Race aka TAR kicked off tonight and again, they casted well. Here's who I'm rooting for: The comic book geeks Mark and Bill. because I want them to show that geeks rule!

I'm also OK with Aja and Ty and Toni and Dallas.

I don't like : Terence and Sarah. She's OK but he's a major piece of work. He's too needy and she's too busy trying to make friends. A quote from Terance: "She's talking to the other teams instead of connecting with me. I needed to be held." Seriously dude, get help now.

Ken and Tina aka Mom and Dad. Ken's OK but Tina rubs me the wrong way. Luckily I think they'll be gone soon.

Smallville is good?

Last week, I watched "Smallville" just to see the Justice League in action. I accidentally taped it for this week and decided to kill some time and watch.

I was shocked at how GOOD it actually was. Of course, I have some quibbles with the show. If you haven't watched in a while, we've finally LEFT Smallville (mainly) and are in Metropolis. Clark has just started with the Daily Planet and Lois is already a "seasoned" (try to contain your laughter) reporter.

Chloe is finding herself but is engaged to Jimmy Olsen. I have no idea where Supergirl is ( she was the big deal last season but so far, nothing) The episode begins with a Lois dressing Clark down and then dressing him up for his first day. An explosion rocks the building and Clark helps people who are victims of a bus crash.

It turns out that one girl and an explosive power she can't control. In the comics, she's this character.

Meanwhile, Chloe has attracted the attention of a hot paramedic and he's kinda brood-y in a hunky sort of way.

Tess, think Lex 2.0, is trying to track down Lex and thinks Clark might know something. (Lex disappeared during a battle with Clark in the Fortress of Solitude). The short version is that Lois and Clark do reporting shenangians and get the story about Plastique and get bylines.

Chloe becomes more attracted to the paramedic and the episode is pretty much over.

That being said, it has a ton of potential, and I'll keep watching for now...

Why reality TV is the best.

This week two of the best reality TV shows came back: "Survivor" on Thursday and tonight "The Amazing Race." If you're not watching these shows, now is the time to jump on.

A lot of my friends give me "that look" when I tell them I still watch "Survivor" but I don't care. This season is shaping up to be one of the best yet because we've got some really crazy folks on this show y'all. But before I go into it, you should know that this season is shot in HDTV and it's amazing.

My friends Chris and Steve let me come over, eat pizza and watch and my lord, I want to just move in with them. If I could afford one, there would be a HDTV in my home. The color, the definition, just amazing, amazing, amazing.

Luckily, we got rid of the biggest nutcase early: Gillian. This woman was shrill and walked around with elephant dung. That's all I'm saying. Wait, one more word: EWWWWW!

Charlie is gay and is feeling on some Marcus who says he's straight. I'm thinking "Bi" myself. Apparently everyone else is keeping their eye on Marcus because the Net is burning up with photos of "little Charlie" which slipped out of his shorts while they were running to do a challenge. I won't post a link because after all this IS a family blog.

Randy is an ass. I'm sorry, just straight up ass. I'm hoping he'll get booted. The gods must not be feeling him either because he got injured during the first night there by a sharp branch that cut his head. He got two stitches and while I'm talking about that, can we stop all the grossness on this show? Seriously. We don't need to see him get stitched up, just tell us about it!

Another thing though that I DO like is everyone running around in their underwear. Some people like Ace and Matty might have legions of gay fans drooling everywhere.

I know my eyes will be glued to the screen for now.

As for tonight, I can't wait to see how our geeks Mark and Bill do. You can read a really good story about the duo here. I bet the two will appear at next year's Comic-Con signing autographs.

Ken and Tina might be worth watching because Ken is from San Diego and a former Chargers player.

Other than that, until I see the show, I don't have an opinion on anyone else but you know I'll be watching.

The good: Korto won the bad, Kenley is still a bitch. Seriously, I hate to use that word to describe any woman, but this chick is crazy.

Tonight's challenge: design for the designers. The twist, each designer had to create a look inspired by a genre of music.
Suede did Jerelle for a rock n roll look. Jerelle did Kenley for pop. Kenley did a horrible hip-hip look for Leanne, Korto did punk for Suede. Leanne did country for Korto.

The designs were hysterical. Korto looked like a hot mess. Suede looked great. Jerelle was kinda bland. Kenley looked OK and Leanne was hysterically bad.

LL Cool J guest judged and I was sad we didn't see as much of him. Kenley sassed Tim and then sassed the judges and inexplicably remained ON THE SHOW! Suede was auf'd.

I can't wait for next week because EVERYBODY was crying in the previews!

So long...Hannah and Isis...

This week's episode was about walking and fierceness. Miss Jay has the girls show up at a bowling alley and have them walk in high! heels! It reminds me of that hooker heel challenge a few season ago were some girls got injured.

At a runway show, poor Hannah had the worst walk ever. During the second challenge, the models had to shoot in the pool with NIgel as the shooter. Why is it, that he seems to always catch these girls half naked Seriously, it's a little pervy...

Mr. Jahy shows up with a black tank top and a white shorts that looked like he just came in from the gay pride parade. Some girls did well like Annaleigh and some had a hard time. I was shocked Elina didn't well because her eyes is what draws people in.

You could tell early that Isis was in trouble because she was getting the "I'm Going Home" edit.

"Heroes" the premiere!

So my show is back and it's better than ever. I saw hour one at Comic-Con back in July and so here's how the season starts:
In the future, Peter is running from something and then confronts Claire who attempts to shoot him but he teleports out to the past. It turns out that Peter is the one who shot Nathan last season in an attempt to stop Nathan from telling people about the people with special abilities.

In the present, Peter is teleported away and FuturePeter takes his place. Meanwhile, Sylar is after Claire and is terrorizing her at home. In New York, Mohinder hides Molly somewhere safe (translation, we can't have children on this show) and he and Maya try to work on discovering how the Heroes get their abilities.

Nathan is healed and then goes to a church spouting off how he was saved by an angel. It turns out to be wait for it.... Linderman!

Sylar captures Claire and steals her abilities. But he also tells her that she's immortal and CAN'T die. (I still think she's related to the guy from Feudal Japan that Hiro put into a grave. ) And now that he has her ability, he's immortal too. (This I think will come back to bite him in the butt!) He also steals HRG's case files and sees the villians locked away at The Company's prison.

Matt gets wise to FuturePeter and is teleported to the desert and is miles away from anyone. Meaning, without minds to read his power is worthless.

In Japan, HIro learns it's his destiny to protect an ancient formula and it's stolen by a blonde speedster (LAME).

He teleports in to the future where he sees himself KILLED by Ando who has a superpower of his own, a red lightening bolt. And then Ando takes the formula for himself.

Hiro sees the world ending before his eyes and teleports himself back to present day.

In Washington, a Nikki lookalike appears to be the trophy wife of a congressman and they have their eyes set on Nathan. In New York, Mohinder injects himself with a formula to make Heroes after he takes some from the DNA of Maya aka "Black Eyes of Death".

Mama Petrelli confronts FuturePeter about where CurrentPeter is and she reveals her power: She's a precog and dreams of the future. She tells him that a different fate is unraveling and that he needs to go back.

IN a maxium secrutity facility run by The Company, we learn that Peter is locked away in the body of an inmate and it's WEEVIL from "Veronica Mars"! Can we hope for a Francis Capra/Kristen Bell reunion???!!

And that's just in hour 1!

Hour 2, has Claire's mom cleaning up the house and Claire tells her that he stole ability. Claire's mom asks if he raped her and she tells him no. Claire discovers that she can no longer feel pain and that scares her because now she doesn't feel human any more.

Meanwhile Mama Petrelli sees a stabbed Hero, a killed Matt and Cliar being attacked and HRG killed along with Peter. Meanwhile Adam and Nikki and the villians from the past attack our Heroes.

Future Peter and Mama Petrilli talk about the Butterfly Effect and how you screw with time, you get hurt. Mama Petrelli tells Peter that because of him Sylar stole Claire's power.

A shirtless Mohinder shows Maya his new power and he's very aggresive and very Spider-Man like. (Groan). He tells Maya that he's a better man and promises to take her powers away. He then kisses Maya and they fall into bed quickly or shall I say the nearest desk top.

At the Company, Elle and Bob talk about how they can stop Syler. Bob cuts Elle down again and she's ticked.

Hiro is worried about what he saw with Ando and hires private detectives to look for the super speederster. Her name is Daphne and they get her name and address.

Ando wants to go and Hiro is hesitant. Tracy Strauss aka Nikki 2.0 try to talk to Nathan and try to lure him back into politics.

Nikki 2.0 wants Nathan appointed as a Jr. Senator for N.Y. A reporter looks at Nikki 2.0 and guess who it is: William Katt, aka The Greatest American Hero!!!! The cameos are out of control on this show.

Meanwhile Claire is back to making tapes and stands in front of a moving train and Future Peter rescues her just in time.

Peter learns that Sylar can heal now. Peter now realizes that it was his fault and Claire wants to learn to defend herself. Nathan meets Nikki 2.0.

Nathan calles Nikki 2.0 and tells her he knows her in a Biblical sense. He tells him that her name is Tracy Struass but she's going to be called Nikki 2.0 in this blog.

At the Company, Elle sees Bob dead and has a gun. She tells HRG that Sylar is in the building and gives HRG the gun. He shoots Slylar and shoots him in the brain. He then heals in front of them and is angry. He then knocks him out. Sylar goes after Elle. He then shows Elle that he stole his dad's power. Elle then blows herself up with electrity and knocks Sylar back. And then DAMN it's a commerical break!

After the break, we see Elle has survived and Sylar is knocked out. But the other prisoners escaped including Peter. At Daphne's apartment Hiro tells Ando that he killed him in the vision.

FuturePeter reveals who he is to Nathan. He then tells him that he screwed things up and that he needs Nathan's help to make things better.

Nikki 2.0 confronts the reporter but not before Nathan tells her that he's on board. Nikki 2.0 is upset after she sees a video tape the reporter shows her and freezes the reporter who then cracks into a million pieces. Whoa!

At the Company, Elle is ticked and Mama Petrelli is there and she's running things. She tells Elle that a dozen inmates were freed and Elle is kicked out by Mama Petrelli. Sylar is locked up (yay!).

Mama Petrelli tells Elle to get out. Poor Elle and worst of all, no reunion.

Hiro takea a medal of hers and he wants the formula. She puts a knife to Ando's throat and he's cut but not badly. Hiro puts a tracking device on the medal so they can find Daphe. At Mohinders, after he and Maya have slept together, he's having adverse effects to his new powers and he's skin is breaking out into nasty legions. ICK!

Matt is finally found in the dessert and he's hearing the thoughts of a turtle or so he thinks. He's rescued by a bushman and he asks if he knows Britney Spears (ROFL!!). Matt learns he's in Africa!

He then tells them that they should use Sprint (product placement much?)

The African apparently has the abilities to paint the future (channeling Issac! maybe??)

At Claire's house, she hears her dad and is glad he's back. He tells her that he's going to hunt down the villains and apparently no one else in the house can hear him.

At Nathan's he's playing chess with Linderman and apparently no one else can see or hear him. (I'm wondering if Nathan is possessed? Or does he have a guilty conscious?)

We learn about the villains, Knox, a flame thrower, Jesse, the German and they are on the loose. We learn that a dozen of them are loose and he wants to bring them back to justice.

Claire wants to learn to protect her and Claire's birthmom moves in. As if fire could really help.

Future peter teleports into Sylar's cell and Mama Petrelli tells him to get current Peter back. Current Peter is along with some thugs whose killing people to steal their ride. A poor woman is burned to death and Peter goes along with them. We see some abilities, the German can maniuplate metal and the flamethrower shoots blue flame.

Angela goes to Syler and drops a HUGE bombshell: She's HIS mom!!!

Consider my mind blown!

National Stay at Home Week

This week, ABC is rolling out "National Stay at Home Week" in an effort to get more people to watch TV. Unfortunately, it's not going to work out the way they want.

Tonight, they kicked off the week with "The 60 Annual Emmys" and it was kinda boring. Oprah kicked of the show looking radiant and boobalicious (I was scared her girls were going to escape her dress) and then the four contestants for Reality Host came out to host the show.

I wish I could say I was going to blog the whole show but I got bored after the second award. Plus when I heard that Josh Groban was going to sing a medley of TV theme songs, that was the deal breaker for me.

Tomorrow: HEROES!!!! I could just die waiting. I saw the first hour at Comic-Con, I've done my own mini countdown and now the big day is here! I could care less what's on the other networks because it's all about all about NBC.

Tuesday, I'm trying to hang on to "Fringe" but I think if it doesn't pick up I might dump it. My guilty pleasure is "The Biggest Loser." Now, if i can just stick to my own workout program... I'm also anxiously, awaiting the return of "Law & Order: SVU."

Wednesday, it's all about "America's Next Top Model." Enough said.

Thursday marks the return of "Survivor: Gabon" and they are going to do a two-hour program. "Ugly Betty" returns Thursday and so that will fill up my night.

The rest of the week doesn't thrill me so I might actually go out or not.

Tonight was one of my three favorite episodes of "America's Next Top Model": make overs! This year, Tyra didn't do too horribly but some she missed the mark. I wasn't feeling McKey's short do, or Sheena's highlights but some were wonderful such as Elina. She got a red frizzy do and it works. Of course there were some tears and some WTF moments along the way but overall not too shabby.

Some girls in this episode Analeigh and Britney were in trouble from the get-go. I don't know why it is but it seems by week three some people's confidence goes out the window. What they should be thankful for is the exposure, who cares if you win, you'll still find work if you're good.

I'm getting suspicious about the lack of screen time that Isis is getting so that makes me think that a) she's gone soon or b) Tyra wants to milk her later.

This week, the challenge was got go to Wal-Mart (Is product placement out of control on this show or what) and they had to do an impromptu look and a commerical. Hannah won which was great but it wasn't memorable.

The photo challenge was a "Sports Illustrated" esque swimsuit photo. Some girls rocked like Marjorie and Lauren-Brie while some just kinda wilted. They hated Analeigh's but I thought it wasn't that bad. Isis looked horrible to me but they let her slide. In the end, Brittany was sent packing and Analeigh was spared.

Next week: The runway!

On "Project Runway" the designers had to create an outfit for women who had recently graduated from college with guidance from their moms.

It was a great challenge but some people (cough, Suede, Kenley) made it all about them. I'm digging Korto every week, I want her to win sooo, soo bad.

Some people are growing as designers such as Jerelle and Lee Ann, while others are like wow. In the end, Joe was shown the door after his hideous 80s wear fell flat.

I'm glad Jerelle beat Kenley ( hate, hate her) and that his look will be featured in "Elle" But note to Jerelle, you're looking too "Men on Film: "these days.

The biggest loser

When this show first came on almost four years ago (can you believe it?) I thought it would last one season tops. Now, it's still going strong. Each season, I swear that I'm not going to watch this show, but it's addictive. You want these people to succeed. In many ways these people are me.

I say to myself, if I were at fat camp and all I had to do is workout every day, I'd lose weight too. Unfortunately, that's a pipe dream. Losing weight is HARD work. If it were easy, everyone could do it.

That being said, I'm loving the contestants this season but for some reason Jillian has drunk a side of byotch with an evil chaser. I mean this woman is yelling and screaming at these people. And not in a good way. She's telling them they are going to drop dead unless they lose weight, which might be true, but LORD.....

I'm rooting for Jerry. He's one of the fattest men and even the doctor said he's one of the sickest person on the show. I'm scared for him, but I believe he can do it. I wonder why they let him on the show.

Jillian lays out his future, if he doesn't lose the weight, he's going to die. It's full on drama and I'm going to be watching to see how this turns out. Their drama was so bad, that I can't even get into the rest of the contestants. Although I'm rooting for the Red Team from S.C. and was sad to see Green team go.

This week's disclaimer: I wasn't interested enough to see the second episode of "90210." As interesting as it was, it's no "Gossip Girl." Once you've sampled the original, others can't compare.

This week, we have Nate struggling to balance being a himbo to a royal and a boyfriend to sweet innocent Vanessa. Serena and Dan are outed in their secret relationship and Chuck Bass is moping around in his bachelor pad trying to bed random chicks.

Jenny is working her butt off at Eleanor's as Laurel's slave. Blair is trying to bed down her Prince Charming but he's not too interested. Dan and Serena is confronted by overdressed 12-year-olds in a park. who read about it on Gossip Girl.
It's good to remember they remember there's a blog attatched to this show.

Blair goes to Brooklyn to invite Nate and Vanessa to a party but it turns out so the Dutchess can get a better look at the competition.

Serena goes to Chuck Bass's bachelor pad and Serena accidentally gives him the idea to use "Blair as sexual Drain-O." At Eleanor's Jenny is caught altering the dress and Eleanor fires Jenny.

Nate is out on run and discovers Blair's plan. Nate cancels and Vanessa talks to Dan about her problems with Nate. Dan's dad gives Vanessa some really, really BAD advice to make her show up at the party.

Chuck shows up at the party to try to seduce Blair. Unbelieveabley, Chuck gropes Blair at the party and no one seems to notice. (!)
As Dan and Serena leave for the party, there's a hint of a brownout (hmm, could the get stuck in the elevator). Ne-Yo's "Closer" plays in the background and then the lights go out in NYC.

Dan and Serena are stuck in the elevator (she looks fashionable in Chanel) and Vanessa after seeing the Dutchess and Nate. Vanessa observes that she didn's sign up for a creepy love triangle with "him and someone's mom..."

Blair stands up to the dutchess and the dutchess throws Blair's relationship in her face especially the part about them not having sex.

Dan learns the Serena's name carries power and Jenny and Eleanor collaborate on a dress where she says "It looks like a pilgrim at a funeral" Vanessa convinces Nate to end the relationship.

Vanessa and the Dutchess face off. Blair is up in her darkened bedroom and Chuck takes advantage of the situation. Jenny and Eleanor talk more about design and Jenny tells her that Eleanor's dress made her want to design. Dan and Serena get into a stupid argument and Serena tells Dan that she forgives him. Somehow, they can't get past their differences and it looks as if they are broken up for this episode. (The Dutchess says something that drives Vanessa off.)

Chuck and Blair are caught by the Lord (not the one in the sky) and she's embarrassed. The Lord punches Chuck and ten embarrasses Blair at the party. Vanessa tells Nate to stay with the Dutchess and apparently she's not embarrassed to be seen at a teeny-bopper party. Blair and the Lord make up and Chuck is ticked.

Jenny's Dad shows up with a date and Eleanor tells Jenny she's still got a job and tells Dan and his date to get them sandwiches.

In the elevator of drama, Dan and Serena break up (AGAIN!) and they realize they love each other but can't be together. Chuck tries making out with another girl but it isn't working and Dan and Vanessa talk on the rooftop about their broken hearts.

Vanessa reveals that the Dutchess said that she would go to the FBI to drop a dime on where Nate's dad is. (Byotch!).

Hopefully, she'll come down hard.

Fashion Night

At the day job, we've dubbed Wednesday nights as "Fashion Night" since two of the best shows on TV "America's Next Top Model" and "Project Runway" air back to back. I was sad to see that Project Runway is going to end on Oct. 15 and I imagine when "ANTM" is done, my Wednesday nights will be free.

Last night on "ANTM" Benny Ninja returned to show the girls to "pose outside the box." Some where great at it while some, like Isis (shock!) and Nikeysha struggled. (When this challenge was over, I knew those two would be in the bottom two.)

Later at the house, the girls did the traditional "let's-all-jump-into-the-pool-and tell-all-our-business-moment" that's aired each season. We learned that Sheena has hoochie in her blood and can't get it out. (I hope she wins, if not, I see a stripper pole in her future). Elina and Clark did the "I-kissed-a-girl-and-I-liked-it" moment. Elina informs us that Clark has really soft lips. I wonder what her breath smells like because this girl is constantly talking trash. Isis was backing into Hannah and she held out her hands to push Isis forward. Suddenly, she became branded a racist.

I was stunned because to me, it looked as if she was trying to preserve her space in the pool and Isis didn't see her. If you watched you noticed Isis didn't trip, but Brittany, Sheena, Joslyn and Nikeysha were outraged.

It's nice to know that they are accepting of Isis now but wow, did they have to take Hannah down this way?

At a challenge, they all had to use their poses to try to sell a purse of a purse designer I've never heard of. (They were ugly purses anyway).

At the photo shoot, the girls were to climb on a ladder attatched to a hot air balloon but luckily the wind was high so they did it on a fork lift.

Elina, Lauren Brie had AMAZING photos. Seriously. Like the best ever in the history of "ANTM!" I think part of it was because they were close to the ground. I wonder if they had REALLY used the hot air balloon how they would have turned out.....

At judging, some of the girls looked bow-wow-wow-yipee-yi-yippe-yay ROUGH! What was Isis wearing? She was tore up from the floor up.

Nikeysha and Isis were in the bottom two. Nikeysha for lack of class and tact and Isis for lack of confidence, luckily, the right one was spare. Next week: MAKEOVERS!!!!!

There are no words to describe my anger at the judges during last night's "Project Runway." Were we watching the same garments? Seriously, I've had problems with their decisions last night, but this was just wrong.

The challenge had the booted designers of this season returning and having them pair up in a team challenge. They had to make a garment based on a zodiac sign of one of the team members. Some teams worked well together, while others exploded. Terri and Keith had to work together on a garment and Keith had an attitude from the beginning. Terri had a "i'll just do it myself" attitude and I think that was her undoing. Her garment looked OK and it had some snap but she rejiggered it after talking to Christian from last season and I think THAT is where she made her design mistake.

The other travesty of the evening was Kenley and her attitude. I pray that she's booted and that it would take her down a peg. There's a fine line between confidence and arrogance and she's been arrogant since day one. I love how the editors have slowly let us see the arrogant side of her this season. At first, I was a fan, now I want her gone.

Poor Blayne was teamed with Stella and it was the most hideous thing I think I've ever seen go down a runway. He too was eliminated. Next week: Designing for old teachers. Hooray!

"Fringe": The pilot

A disclaimer: I saw the pilot back in July at Comic-Con. (If you don't go, you should REALLY check it out. Tonight, I rewatched and it confirmed what I knew back then: This is a really GOOD show.

Of course it comes from JJ Abrams who knows how to create good shows. See "Lost" and "Alias" and of course "Felicity".

"Fringe" starts with a plane in a really bad electrical storm. Lightening is striking and the plane is jostling everywhere. A nervous passanger is sweating profusely and injects himself with a substance. He then tries to go to the front of the plane and a flight attendant struggles to put him back in his seat and then she sees that he's infected with a virus that makes the skin transparent and what's worse, it's spreading through the plane.

The plane lands safely and all aboard are dead. Agent Olivia Dunham is assigned to the case after struggling with Homeland Security Agent Phillip Broyales. They try to figure out what's going on with the plane. Dunham is keeping a secret, she's having an affair with another agent. After her boyfriend, Agent Scott, is hurt, she looks for the one person who can help him. That leads her to mad scientist Dr. Walter Bishop and his son Peter.

Peter is in Iraq brokering shady deals when Olivia asks for his help in getting his father to share the information needed to help Agent Scott. The Trail leads to a powerful company, Massive Dynamic, and it's liason Nina Sharp who as a secret or two of her own.

Bishop then tries some "fringe" science on Olivia to allow her to get into Agent Scott's head to see the face of the person who injured him. After the guy is captured, we learn that Agent Scott is actually a DOUBLE AGENT and a bad guy. He's killed and Dunham is offered a her own team to investigate paranormal activity. Meanwhile, we learn that Massive Dynamics has claimed Agent Scott's body and that he can be questioned after being dead for five hours!

That being said, the show seems to be a gorier version of "X-Files" and a little "La Femme Nikta" involved.

I'm onboard, for now. I hope you will be too.

Gossip Girl

After last week's great start, "Gossip Girl" continued its reign as one of the best shows on TV. Although, I'm getting a touch worried because this week it started veering into soap opera territory.

Spotted: Nate Archibald trying to raise money to keep his family in the style they are accustomed to. Sadly, he's become a himbo for a duchess.

Spotted: Chuck Bass having a heart that beats only for Blair. Unfortunately, he's not interested.

Spotted: Vanessa's heart shattering after being stood up by Nate. Too bad she doesn't know that he's almost broke and he's in way over his head.

Spotted: Serena and Dan making out almost the entire episode. This is getting really old.

Spotted: Jenny Humphrey only in one scene and doing almost nothing. Actually this IS a good thing.

Spotted: A face off between Blair and the Duchess. It ends in a draw when Professor Himbo Nate slipping her his candlestick in the library (yeah, I went there).

Spotted: Nate and Jenny's dad having a midlife crisis. Fortunately it's passing when he realized that he's missing his kids lives.

What I'm watching for the fall

Last week, the Fall TV 2008 rolled out with "Gossip Girl," "90210," "Prison Break" and "America's Next Top Model," and over the next few weeks more TV shows will be competing for your attention. After reading through the entertainment bible and after careful consideration from the thoughts and opinions from my friends, here's my line up.

Sunday:
"The Amazing Race," "Desperate Houseswives" to be watched live. To be DVR'd "Family Guy" and "The Cleveland Show."
Why you should watch: "TAR" is one of the best reality shows on TV. It's like traveling all over the world without leaving the comfort of your home. Plus, host Phil Keoghan is the sexiest reality host on TV. Last season, "Desperate Housewives" got its groove back with the addition of Dana Delaney to the cast and this season is the five year jump, so I can't wait to see what happened in-between.

Monday:
"Gossip Girl," "Heroes" and "Prison Break" (in the winter "24"). I'm dropping "Chuck." To be DVR'd : nothing. Monday is going to be the busiest and best night of the week as "GG", "Heroes" all fight for that teen-age, hip, cool audience.
"GG" is this generations "BH, 90210" only with Prada and Kate Spade instead of shoulder pads and tube skirts. "Heroes" had an awful last season. The writer's strike probably didn't help things but it just seemed as if it lost its way. Then, we managed to see hour 1 at Comic-Con and was blown away. So I'm in for now, but it's on probation. I skipped a great big portion of "Prison Break" last season but I managed to enjoy the premiere last week so I'm in again, but it, too, is on probation. I'm a little concerned about the writers of "24" delaying production but I'm sure they will get back on track. I was this close to DVR'ing "Dancing with the Stars" to see if Cloris Leachman or Susan Lucci would break a hip but decided that it wasn't worth my time.

Tuesday:
"90210" (on probation), "Fringe" "Law & Order SVU". To DVR: "The Biggest Loser: Families." I got hooked on America's trendiest ZIP code last week, but we'll see if they can still deliver the heat in week two.

As far as "SVU" as long as Mariska and Christopher are on, then I'm watching. I love their chemistry and although the cases can be a big gruesome, it's still worth watching.

Wednesday:

"America's Next Top Model", "Stylista," "Project Runway" to DVR: "Deal or No Deal". Tyra is a superstar in her own mind. But the girl can model her butt off. The Tyra wannabees always come with their share of drama. This season we have a transexual and an Asian woman who might win the whole thing. The rest, I'm kinda meh on . "Stylista" is from the same producers so I imagine it'll be some of the same over the top drama we're used to. There are no words to describe the wonders of "Project Runway." And while this season may not have the dramatic characters we're used to, this is a strong group of designers. I'm looking for Korto, Kenley and Terri to be in the final three but I could be wrong. "Deal or No Deal" may actually give away the blasted $1 Million now.

Thursday
My 8 p.m. hour is extremely competitive!! I'm watching "Survivor" live, DVR'ing "Ugly Betty" to be watched at 9 p.m. I would LOVE to catch Smallville this season since they will be featuring the Justice League and the Legion of Superheroes but I can't watch everything. And I'm adding an old friend "ER" back into the mix. I left "ER" when Dr. Romano got his arm cut off by a helicopter only one season later to have another helicopter land on him and kill him. It had become tired and too soap-opera-y to me. But now, I'm hooked again by watching old episodes in the gym in the mornings.

Friday: What I'm watching: Absolutely nothing. There's noting ever REMOTELY interesting on this day to me. So I might use this evening to catch up with the shows I missed during the week.

Saturday: The same. Absolutely nothing.

How Stella lost her groove: "Project Runway"

This season of "PR" is rocking a little less now that leather/biker chick Stella got Auf'd. It's sad too because she was showing potential. This week's challenge: Creating a look for Diane von Furstenberg.

Some people did an excellent job. Kenley's one piece dazzled although she had to fight for it. Korto, I think should have pulled it out, but alas, nerdy Leeanne pulled out another win and is emerging as the one to watch.

Jarrell, Blaine and Teri all got a pass and it came down to Joe and Stell and poor Stella was given the boot.

Episode grade: B+

America's Next Top Model

And so we're off. Tonight, Cycle 11 (Can you believe it?) of "America's Next Top Model" began and based on what I saw tonight, it's going to be one heck of a season.

This season's theme: The future of modeling. And they rode that theme to the hilt as Tyra and the Jays (Mr. and Miss Jay) were all dolled up in silver clothes, bad wigs and tons of make-up. It was hy-sterical. I don't mean to be cruel, but after Tyra told us all to kiss her fat ass I backed off on her weight but these clothes she's wearing isn't doing her body any favors.

I 'm loving Sheena an Asian girl who is straight up hood, Marjorie and Jocelyn, who's auditioned 30 times! (Did anyone else cringe when she said she was from "Lucky Louisiana" especially now?)

I hate Clark and I'm on the fence about Elina because she seems very predatory.

Isis is the best of the bunch but sadly, she won't win because she's a pre-op transexual.

This week's challenge, conveying different issues in the world today. Isis rocked her photo and some people's photos were a little crazy. Saleish errr... Neikesha argued with the judges and that's a no-no and found herself in the bottom with Sharaun. But luckily, she had class enough to she was sorry to the other girls.

Episode grade: A+

"90210" : The Pilot...

After all the promos and weeks of waiting, we finally got a peek at "90210." Was it worth the wait? Maybe.

Here's the good: The show is edgier. (In the first 10 minutes, a girl gives a boy's privates a mouth hug in the parking lot), and it deals with today's issues.

The producers were also smart enough to cast Jennie Garth as the guidance counselor of the school to have a tie to the old show and Nat is back as owner of the Peach Pit. (yay!). They also brought Shannen Doherty back as Brenda (note, it's very clear she showed up for the paycheck and nothing else).

Here's the bad: There are way too many contrived situations. For example, one girl has drug habit and needs money. So her rich friend happens to walk away from her purse and the purse contains the money needed.

Dixon is African-American. His family is white. Not ONE character on the show reacted with shock and surprise. No one questioned why this white family has this black child. What is this "Webster?"

The show is disturbing to me because ALL of the actresses are way too skinny. Doesn't anyone eat in "90210"?

The first episode is about the Wilson family from Kansas moving into the ZIP code to take care of their boozy grandma. (Actress Jessica Walter is wonderful in this role). The family, wide-eyed Annie (Shenae Grimes), her adoptive African-American brother Dixon (Tristan Wilds) and parents Harry (Rob Estes) who's the new principal of West Beverly High and wife Debbie (Lori Loughlin) have a hard time adjusting to how people do things in California. At school both Annie and Dixon try to make friends quickly. Annie falls in with spoiled, rich Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) and quickly learns her friendship comes with a cost. And Naomi's boyfriend Ethan (Dustin Milligan,) who's torn about who he wants to be. Annie also wants to be friends with Silver (Jessica Stroup) a quirky outsider who has a YouTube-like broadcast that most of the school watches. (hmm, shades of "Gossip Girl" here?). And Silver happens to be Kellie Taylor's (Jennie Garth) younger half sister.

In the two-hour premier we have hook ups and break ups, two blasts from the pasts, a baby who was given up for adoption, porn and more.

While the show isn't as sweet and sunny as the original, it might be worth adding to your guilty pleasure list. Some of the actors are a bit green and some have had better roles. For example, AnneLynne McCord set the screen on fire as Eden on "nip/tuck" and here she's barely smouldering. I know you can really go for it on cable but this is just dry and uninspired. She look bored instead of saucy and that's a problem for the hot, rich girl on this show.

Some storylines I'm not invested in yet such as the girl who has a drug problem. She indicates that they can't pay the rent, but she spends $200 on drugs? It doesn't make sense. And finally, this seems like "Gossip Girl" lite. If I were the CW, I'd put this show on after "GG" and they'd have the teen/young adult/female/gay audience locked up.

Prison Break

OK. I hopped off the "Prison Break" train last year because the story got too convoluted and crazy. But after watching tonight's episode, I'm back on board.

We had the return of the presumed dead Sara. The demise of the prison break tattoo. The arrest of all the major players and then the reuniting of the gang. This time, they are going to bring down The Company AKA the big bads of the last three seasons.

But my favorite thing: cannibalism. Yep, T-bag ATE the guy who he was crossing the boarder with. And of course, there was this bad joke "What's the matter man, you eat some bad Mexican?" Um, yeah.

Despite that, it was still fun to watch.

Why I love "Gossip Girl"

After a long and very boring summer, the fall has finally arrived! Tonight, "Gossip Girl" returned and it arrived with guns blazing.

Fake romances, reunions and a bone lace dress made for an interesting episode. We kicked off the season with the end of summer in where else: The Hamptons. Serena and Nate are in the middle of a fake romance. She's mourning her breakup with Dan. He's shaking up with a married woman. Meanwhile Chuck Bass is entertaining himself with the local talent while missing Blair.

Blair spent her summer in Tuscany waiting for Chuck who never arrived and she's po'd. Back in the city, Dan's been hooking up with chick after chick. Young Jenny's been busy at an internship with Blair's mom (imagine that!) and making pretty dresses.

The Head Bitch in Charge at Blair's mom's company is too caught up in herself to see Jenny's talent and uses her power to make Jenny miserable.

But all of this changes during the White Party. No, not THIS one!
Chuck wants to get back with Blair but she's got a new boy toy with a secret. I thought he was totally gay but learned that he's actually a British lord which makes Chuck very, very sad.

Jenny makes a splash at the White Party and even catches the eye of a rival designer and that in turns makes the HIBIC at the design company finally notice her.

Nate pines for the married woman and he and Serena tries to make her jealous and it works. So much that they plan a secret meeting.

Blair and Chuck almost connect but Chuck can't say I love you. But Serena and Dan reunite and that's what's important to me.

Has "Dancing With the Stars" jumped the shark?

A disclaimer: I've never seen a single episode of this show. That being said, I might have to watch this season. Seriously. I want to see how far down the D-list this show can go.

Personally, I think it's finally jumped the shark with the inclusion of Ted McGinely. If you don't know who he is, trust me, you've seen him repeatedly. For some reason, this man has made a career of joining shows that are on their last legs and I think this show might be on it.

This season's "stars" include: Lance Bass (who I used to like but now, not so much), Kim Kardashian (who is famous for no reason except for a skanky sex tape with Brandy's brother) and Cloris Leachman who I was shocked to find was still alive. (Any guess on whether Mary Tyler Moore or Valarie Harper might be on next season?) And of course, my fave: Susan Lucci. I was so wondering why Toni Braxton was on the list since she has a well-known heart disease problem. If she keels over, would that make good TV? I don't know???
I also have issue of WHY Lance is with a female partner. He's gay people! Couldn't America handle seeing him dance with a dude? I think so. Plus it's a DANCE competition! I'm surprised that GLAAD hasn't jumped all over this one.

This week, my life got thrown for a loop again as changes were announced at my day job. I'm wondering when this is going to end so I can go back to life as I know it and I'm also wondering how much longer can I continue. That being said, depending on what happens, this blog *might* have to go on hiatus. (I pray not, but we'll see). Meanwhile, I'll continue as long as I can.

I'm going to admit it. I'm going to check into "90210." After all they've been bombarding us with commericials for weeks now. Curiously, they haven't sent out tapes to TV critics which makes me nervous because that says to me that the show either a) stinks or b) stinks.

However, I thought the first show a) stank and b) stank but there was a trainwreck-y quality about it. Plus add the back stage drama of Shannen Doherty and that made me watch more. Both Shannen and Jennie Garth are cameo-ing in this version but alas, Tori Spelling is not.

The new premise has a new family moving in and trying to fit in with the Snobs of Beverly Hills and because this is the 2008, they have a black adoptive son. While I find this wrinkle interesting, couldn't they have, oh, I don't know, a sucessful black family LIVE in Beverly Hills? Black people along with Asians and Latinos DO have rich people in their race so it wouldn't have been so much of a stretch.

Of course it would have been cliched to have the black family a) a rapper's family, b) a former athlete's family c) an actor's family so I guess this is the best they could do.

I also think the CW is making a BIIIG mistake by not putting this show immediately after "Gossip Girl" because it's the SAME audience. (Which if you're not watching GG you are sooooo two years ago.

It's time for the "Amazing Race"!!!!

Toda the cast of the latest installment of "The Amazing Race" was revealed. On first glance, this looks to be a good crew. I'm so glad CBS didn't give up on this show. For me, it's like traveling but in the comfort of your own home.

The race is grueling and stressful and I'm always amazed at the people who do this. My partner (and soon to be husband) tried out with our nephew last year but alas, no call back.

My partner would be great at it because he's good at solving problems and has an analytical mind. I wouldn't be because I tend to fall apart at stress and have to much of a fear gene.

But trust me when I say, I won't miss an episode!

War is hell...

This week, "My Life on the D-List" took a serous turn as Kathy took time out of her quest for the A-list to bring a little joy to our injured men and women.

Think what you will about Kathy, at least she took the time to care. That's more than a lot of celebrities do living their lives. I was shocked to learn, however, the length of time the men and women have to spend at the hospital. Can you imagine having a body part blown off and having to spend days, weeks and even months in the hospital while the rest of America is at Starbucks having a latte?

I'm not a flag waver but I am so proud of America and how these people put themselves on the line so I don't have to worry about being bombed at Ralphs or having to wake up to screams as my village is being decimated by enemy soldiers.

I know a few people in the military including Mr. Wong and I have to say the next time I see him, I'm just going to hug him and thank him for all he's done for me and for our country.

But back to "MLOTDL," Kathy spend the day at Walter Reed Hospital and while the hospital has had it's share of problems the side we saw were people being well care for and being nurtured back to health.

My heart broke when one guy who had both of his lower limbs blown off after decades in the military said he had a bad day the day before the visit and didn't sleep well because he had phantom pains in his limbs.

You could tell that Kathy was barely keeping to together and finally broke down out of sight of the guys. I think it's at this moment we've seen her at her most human. Most people see KG as this shrill attention starved harpy but for me, I saw her fighting to give the residents of Walter Reed at least one good day.

It's Bravo so "MLOTDL" will repeat so catch this one if you can.

I'm beginning to question if the folks at "Project Runway" are making the right decisions. Tonight they sent one of the best designers home because they questioned her taste.

This week's challenge design an outfit for Brooke Shield's character on "Lipstick Jungle." The designers had to pair off and Jerele and Stella IMHO had the best design of the evening. But where did they finish? Second.

And is it me or is Michael Koors being extra bitchy with a side of tool? No. Discuss.

Next week: Drag queens!

Us Weekly revealed that one of the contestants in this season of "ANTM" is transgender. I honestly don't know how I feel about this. On one hand, I'm glad Tyra is giving people an opportunity to model but on the other, I wonder if this will open doors for others really, or will this be just "great TV."

America, while progressing, still isn't the great melting pot that it claims to be and I wonder if this poor girl's dreams will be crushed on national TV just for the sake of good TV.

I don't know but it's another reason to watch.

My friend Jump the Snark has been after me to watch this show. I tried and couldn't get into it. Of course, now that we're about to hit the final season on Sept. 2. I'm interested. Everyone I know who watches the show raves on it. Of course, I'm going to give it a try and if I like it, I know he probably owns every season so I can catch up that way. With the day job getting more demanding and the second job to start any second, my time is going to be limited but I will give it a shot because a) I trust him and b) it looks like great TV

On the weekends, I usually have CNN on in the background but lately, one journalist has had me sitting up and taking notice: No, it's not Anderson Cooper but it's Rick Sanchez. He's brash and some may find him boorish but I like his style.

He's been running these reports called the League of First Time Voters which he talks to people who are just deciding to vote for the first time. Today he had journalists from the Unity 08 convention (unfortunatly we have NO idea who these people were or how they were selected) and they pretty much said next to nothing about how they were voting or why they were voting.

Oh and if you're interested, Sanchez is on Facebook, Twitter and MySpace (for real!)

Another legend gone: Issac Hayes is dead

It makes me sad to annouce that Issac Hayes, (Shaft, Chef) is gone. Cycle images.

Today the second job kept me pretty busy and so I didn't have time today to really watch the news. I had the Olympics on in the background and so imagine my shock when I heard that Issac Hayes had died.

The irony, Bernie Mac and Issac had JUST finished this movie which is scheduled to be released later on this year.

Again, both will be missed.

Saturday brought some sad news. Bernie Mac died at the 50 years old! I wasn't a fan but loved the first couple of seasons of "The Bernie Mac Show." I loved the way he addressed the camera with "America, blah, blah blah...." and it was so entertaining.

The show used to be in syndication and I caught a few episodes but it was never appointment TV. He's going to live a hole that can never be filled.

The Olympics started on Friday and we sat and watched the Opening Ceremonies with our jaws hanging open. It was simply one of the most amazing sights we've ever seen. From synchronized drummers, to people floating through the air to people lighting up and dancers forming characters on one of the largest pieces of papers known to man.

It was amazing, breathtaking and awe-inspiring all at the same time it wasn't until the Parade of Athletes until I became bored. History is going to show that this probably was one of the best opening ceremonies ever.
